  1. I think you are over complicating this, its merely an example of hammer mechanics. He has adopted the attitude of F lipping heck U nder no C ircumstances can anybody K now that the W heels I bought don't fit under T he arches properly
  2. You are a star! I'm going to say a tentative yes please. Steve works nights so I'll let you know later bud.
  3. Not been on here much for a while but WOW
  4. Right its evening and more folks around so I'll post something to shamelessly put this thread back on the front page  Quick recap for those who can't be bothered to scroll back. My shorties engine is toast, not too much of an issue for me as I have another but Shanksjacks was going to have it (if it was good!) so he's a bit stuffed now. Just wondered if anyone out may have a working TT engine they might be prepared to part with. Sorry Mods if I should be placing a wanted ad but I am just asking on behalf of Steve at this stage. Quite happy to do an ad if that's the way forward
  5. Thanks Richie Steve's engine is hydro locked as well so I'm having a mooch around to see if I can find a good one for him. We think his block is cracked as he's got oil and water mixing in the cylinder. My block bizarrely may be ok so worst case scenario there may be a build option there, but it all tots up the money sadly.
  6. Yep sadly It's proper weird I drove it 20 miles without a glitch to get to the garage stood outside listening to it run with Adam ( mechanic ) and we both said its just a misfire, no funny noises just lumpy running. Pull the plugs for a compression test and holy crap! I suppose its testament to how bullet proof these engines are normally that it still ran having suffered a catastrophic failure.
  7. Right - so finally she comes out of my garage fires up runs on 5 as I expected and we trundle down to the friendly mechanic. My master plan being that the engine out of my car will have its misfire sorted (definitely absolutely certainly an easy fix because it is absolutely definitely certainly electrical). Shanksjacks on here (Steve) will have that lump in replacement for his which is hydro locked for the second time and engine with all the goodies will come out of my other car and into the red one. I know its been years since I broke it! No compression at all on 6, bits of piston welded to the plug and 3 other plugs partially melted. As per the title OOOPS! Now I have a good engine for mine, but this has left Steve high and dry. Does anyone out there have a good spare twin turbo engine they may want to part with. We obviously have more than enough of everything else between us. Steve is a really nice guy and I'm gutted for him so just having a punt to see if I can help him out. And of course Hi to everyone and I promise to stop being a lurker and post pics when she's running again.
  8. Sounds good Loads has happened this year but finally started playing again The shorty should be back on the road in a week or 2 Over the winter I'm looking to swap engines and pull a few bits off the purple one Then break it or sell as a project (need to get down to one really) What I want to do is make the red one quick so I'm hoping for about 550BHP out of the forged engine. Then ideally I'd like to buy something as standard and as good as possible and just sit on it as I don't think it will be many years before they go up
  9. Hi Alic how's the impul going? and interesting read that
  10. Hi Jeff The compulsory strike off notice is due to failing to file the company returns on time. File the returns and indicate your intention to carry on trading and its simply cancelled. It does seem a bit strange that they have had 2 raised in the same year. Probably nothing sinister (I missed filing a return one year and got one) but worth seeking clarification Hope that helps
  11. Just phone him up and say Martin recommended him He's a really decent guy and he will be totally honest with you. I know him because his brother is one of my best friends and my solicitor
  12. My advice is give Adam Flynn a call at Fast Test in Claydon If you mention my name Martin Cartwright he will swear but he is bloody good and knows his way round these cars
  13. Hmmm not sure I said that lol Although I have a suspicion that there is a beast beneath when its sorted mate
  14. Hi Alic Check the paperwork you had with it, I seem to remember paperwork for an after market ECU and some other bits as well. If you post on here exactly what you've got I'm sure someone will have some ideas. I changed the box on your car before I MOT'ed it, we flushed it refilled it and it ran beautifully. We did also swap the torque converter, so that wasn't from the old set up either. So it does sound like something else is going on there. Gutted for you mate, but keep plugging away and it will all come right in the end. I don't see how you can kill that many boxes without much mileage.
  15. I like these! Do you reckon you can do these for me Si
  16. Thank you Jeff I can't afford a new RS7 sadly , but in the real world the bi turbo diesel is a great vehicle. I was going for the "Get out of my way peasant" look when it comes up behind you with the styling. It's a great drive, well finished off and makes a fantastic noise. Not a brutal as the Beemer which I miss a little. So I sense a remap in the near future. Although the second Zed will be on the road next week so I'll get my "aaaaaaaaarrrggghhhh" fix there I suspect
  17. Hi Mate Adam Flynn at Fast Test in Claydon is where one of mine is right now. 01473 832680 Really nice and a very knowledgeable man Mention my name (Martin Cartwright) he will moan about me I'm sure. He a good friend and a proper petrol head. Can't recommend him highly enough.
  18. That's what I like about people on this forum! :tt2:
  19. Well the 335D BMW is gone Opted for a bit of a marmite car this time Audi A7 black edition Hope everyone is well on here. I haven't been around for a while as loads going on, but the purple thing now has an MOT so the Zed addiction continues
  20. Hi Mate Nice looking car, I'm not too far away either as I'm now nearer to Stowmarket. The garage I use for my Zed is in Claydon and Adam knows his way round these if you need any help :thumbup1:
  21. Just occasionally you see something which just gets funnier every time you look at it
  22. Here's a thought for you. We will soon have a new and unelected PM, the opposition is in complete disarray. There is the possibility that the new PM will call a snap general election as Labour are in such a mess on the assumption that victory is assured. The Liberal Democrats meanwhile have quietly announced that their election manifesto is essentially to remain in the EU regardless of the referendum vote. 16 million voted to remain, which is more than have ever voted for the winning party in a general election. Interesting times.
  23. Obviously this is the hot topic of conversation at the moment and it is so huge it is difficult to avoid talking about it. We had some friends over last night, and after agreeing that fisticuffs was not the way forward we had a discussion that raised a couple of interesting points I felt. I will reiterate my previous post where I said we live in a democracy and I am grateful for that and the fact is I was out voted and I respect that. So the following is not sour grapes more points I felt were worthy of some thought and discussion. My friends voted out by the way, one is adamant that he made the right call, the other is now not so sure. 1. It seems in the media that many people are coming forward and saying "ooops". I appreciate you only see what the media wants you to see. However the suggestion was floated that the information is available to contact everyone who voted and allow them (only them) to participate in a second "are you sure" vote. 2. Annoyingly this wasn't my comment, "if you require some dental work done you don't go to your mate round the corner, you go to an expert. So why did we not allow the experts to make this decision?" 3. The petition that everyone is signing ( states that if the turnout is less than 75% and the majority is less than 60% of the turnout the a second referendum should be held), and it was set up nearly a month before the actual vote! Only has any democratic meaning if more people sign it than actually voted to leave as other wise it's just the "remain" camp trying to overturn the process. As I said I just thought these were interesting points that were worth posting, my personal stance is I was outvoted in a democratic process so I accept that and now want to make the new situation work.
  24. Just read about this. We work hand in hand with the French border control people and we are at the moment allowed to carry passport checks and police our border in Calais in conjunction with the French. Hence the migrant camps over there. The French Government have suggested that on leaving the EU we should man our own borders at the point of entry, Dover. So if these migrants manage to get on a ferry and get to England, we then refuse entry, but we can't send them back to France as they are not French citizens, and France will refuse them entry. So we could potentially see the migrant camp in Calais move to Dover. Irony - Not just something that is metallic!
  25. Some very well worded and thought out posts on here from both sides. I posted earlier with my take on the situation and I just wanted to add to my comment about it being the wrong thing to do to trust the public with this decision. The fact of it is that the majority of people who voted will have cast their vote for just one or two reasons. Those reasons will be different for different people and will vary from the immigration question through being dictated to by a another Parliament through to what subsidies are received and so on. This is such a big decision and affects so many facets of everyone's lives that no individual can possibly have the big picture. Yet we were invited to vote as individuals. I personally voted to stay in, not because I believe the EU is great, but because I believed that as no one really knows what will happen it was just far to big of a gamble to take. Imagine having your mortgage or rent money for the next year in your hand and then placing it on a 100-1 outsider. It could be incredible or you could be in real trouble. I just got the feeling that we were preparing to take that kind of bet with a country. Personally I do believe it will get worse before it gets better. HOWEVER! We live in a democracy, one man one vote, and regardless of my personal thoughts I was outvoted and I respect that. Whinging about it won't change it. So we now need to focus on moving forward, because mistake or not we have made that decision and now we will make it work because we have to. I just think we need to move forward with our eyes open and understand the massive potential implications of this vote. And yes there is a real possibility that eventually we will be better for it, but it is going to take a long time. There we go I'll now put my soap box back in the cupboard:thumbup:
