  1. Mondo's SOOOOOOOO right. Just think about it like this. With your PC you see no change to it's performance when you renew your antivirus software, but you wouldn't not do it. Think about what RPM actually means, now think about how many times a second your engine has to do something and now ask yourself do you want to use an "old" something. We've all been there but that is £50 well spent and as I said when you step back afterwards and think "I did that" you'll have way more than £50 worth of smugness.
  2. That will be one of those jobs you will get an enormous amount of satisfaction from. Just take it slow and photograph everything. Maybe even do a thread :thumbup1::thumbup1:
  3. Do you mean this sticker? The problem is that the car was first registered in the UK on 27 May 2003 and I just can't see a UK garage using a Japanese sticker.
  4. Hi Ali I see from the massive response you generated from this I'm coming to the party a bit late. I guess you've come to the conclusion the right thing to do is replace the belt by now. Just to make you feel a bit better about it, when I bought the car I was told it had been garaged and forgotten about for nearly 8 years after a failed attempt to steal it. If that is the case I seriously doubt it was replaced 5 years ago, it probably was 10,000 km ago, but most likely when it first came into the country, which I think if memory serves was 2004. I reckon you may have read a 4 as a 9 on the sticker. I had a belt go on a V6 Vectra and it £1100 in parts alone and that was 2001. It really isn't worth the risk mate.
  5. This has popped up again just down the road from me . I have absolutely no money at the moment due a nightmare December/ January. This seems quite cheap if the shell is good http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C697459 Just wondered if it might be of any interest to anyone :thumbup:
  6. sorry should have said the private plate isn't on it anymore, but I'm not sure what reg it is now
  7. Not me mines in bed in the garage. However there was a USAF guy trying to sell a red one a couple of weeks ago it could be him. He was trying take it back to the States, but was struggling. No MOT been off the road since January, a few engine mods, but running rough. He said there was a problem with a turbo. It was a UK car. There ends my knowledge I'm afraid
  8. We're trying to careful with money this year
  9. cool really pleased for you mate

you should practise spraying on the spare bonnet that you have the tip with spraying is the smallest imperfection will show, sounds obvious I know, but at no point can you say "ah that will do" it is very rewarding when you get it right though

put it on ebay its worth 25 to 30 quid
  13. I always stick to premium tyres and I would rather buy part worn premium than brand new budget. I have in the past searched 7mm (what ever brand and size) on eBay and been really happy with the results. However here is a top tip. Garages get an over rider discount based on the number of tyres they order (more they order cheaper they get) If you are friendly with an independent garage they will usually match the cheapest price online or not as it counts towards the discount. So even though they make little or no money on them it helps them out. The case of wine I buy them at Christmas normally saves me several hundreds through the year.
  14. This was in the local news exactly the problem you are talking about MyHermes idea of a safe place http://www.eadt.co.uk/news/delivery_driver_suspended_after_christmas_gifts_left_on_driveways_are_stolen_1_4344936
  15. oooh oooh oooh look what I just found!
  16. Do we think Nos could do anything with that? :w00t:
  17. Hi Ali I would put a fluid change and service in there with the Cambelt change. I would suggest do all the belts so you know they are done. it won't cost that much more for a full belt kit. Looking forward to seeing it in white
  18. That is a brilliant photo It looks like it's been drawn by Pixar
  19. It's all in the way you say it Ali I got caught when I first was on here, I made a few comments I thought were funny, which probably would have been had they had been spoken, but the written word is different. There are no inflections or body language to go with it. "Phutumsch did his with '89 spec just so you know. it doesnt look like the halo will fit flat on the 99 as the high beams are slanted. I maybe wrong, just a heads up" "I've seen Phutumsch do it with 89 spec lights. It doesn't look like the halo will fit on the 99 spec to me. How does he manage that trick then?" Same statement written two different ways one runs the risk of stepping on people toes and the other will get you some interesting info you didn't know. I think most people on here are impressed by your age and determination. I know I am and I wish I'd bought a car at 16 to restore. It was me that said you need to join the forum when I sold you the car. Everybody on here wants to help everyone else in a shared interest and that is all that comment is. Just trying to help you not wind people up by accident. Gaz had a similar conversation with me when I managed to get both my feet in my mouth at the same time. Keep asking but read everything before you post it, just in case. :thumbup1:
  20. Bloody hell that was quick it's normally a few minutes before you're rude about my scoop!
  21. Ok I know it wasn't strictly speaking today, but here is the videohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCrYnYB40xg&feature=em-share_video_user for the light painting of my car the other night.
  22. I don't want to sound condescending but get someone in who knows what they are doing it looks easy but it isn't you need to lead work the join so it doesn't leak it shouldn't cost too much but if you have no experience do not try it yourself (yep I did have a go and my mate laughed for a month but he did fix it) #
