Alic Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 I figured I'd put my thoughts here on what priorities i think i should have: For starters I plan to do the cam belt next spring since i have no knowledge of it being replaced. Then repair the dents and cracks in my Impul bumper  in March/April (and pass my driving test of course :D) and do the small things like replace broken plastic in prep for it being done. Screw everything back together in my shortie so I can see what mechanics needs to be done to it and what it's missing. Then there's the summer, with 8 week holiday  : Respray to white. Might get the interior done by Mondo. I'd like to get a manual conversion from lee but it might have to wait till 2017 as its not essential. Then some miscellaneous things like lights from Andy, Et viola, This should make a really clean car, but I'm almost certain that I'll uncover some more things to do when i start digging! Of course advice is appreciated but i don't want to do more than i can handle :) Quote
Pebkau Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Hi Ali I would put a fluid change and service in there with the Cambelt change. I would suggest do all the belts so you know they are done. it won't cost that much more for a full belt kit. Looking forward to seeing it in white Quote
Alic Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 Thanks Martin, I am going to do a full service with the cam belt change, new oil, filters, coolant etc. About the belts i'm guessing an OEM kit such as: https://conceptzperformance.com/Cart/description.php?II=1001 and then buy a timing belt on top? would cost about £100 yippee  but i suppose i have to expect it. Richie K Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Hi Ali, doing the cam belt usually entails changing the water pump and tensioners while the belt is off, I think the full kit and fitting could be nearer to £450-£500. Like all of us here, that list will grow exponentially:yes:. But you are right, sort out the main things, engine, brakes etc, you can tinker away at the small stuff when you have the car running sweet. I'm trying to do it all in one go, I've spent a few years collecting bits and pieces both engine wise and asthetically, now that I have most of the stuff, I'm starting with the engine overhaul and then progressing to everything else, I want a respray also but it won't be 2016, I've been told I can get a respray for €2.5k but for a full bare metal job with it looking like it just came from the factory, I'm looking at a total spend of closer to €5k. Take your time, save up to get things done properly and tip away at the smaller bits:thumbup1: Quote
