  1. That stupid song about Havana. It gets stuck in my head every time Heart play it and being Heart they only have 10 songs on a loop so I heard it a lot :mad::mad:
  2. Good spot! That MID4 looks very like a ford probe from the front...
  3. In 2014 I took 16 Canadians around Scotland on a tour for 2 weeks. It was a really good time, but as part of the trip we visited many many distilleries, Glenturret, Talisker, Oban, Edradour to name but a few... I never liked whisky until that trip, we had so many tasting sessions and so many of us bought a bottle for the road, that now I can drink it quite happily. The alcohol is clear when first distilled and its the aging process in the barrel that colours it, Different barrels give different tastes, smells and colours (just like tom said above) but it goes further than that; the type, construction, material and what was previously stored in the barrel all affect the taste, smell and colour. So for example, using a cherrywood barrel, that previously had a Spanish wine in it will taste different to using an oak barrel from the states that had a bourbon stored in it. Also bear in mind the type of grains they use and even the freshness of the spring water changes it all! Out of the 12 distilleries we visited, I learnt that I dont like blends, only single malts for me and that my favourites are Edradour 10 years and Talisker 25 years (although thats £250/bottle!). I prefer my whisky on ice with a splash of water... Going on a few distillery tours is well worth it, you get to see how its made and the differences between each place/company and of course the tasting after! The definition of a scotch was changed in 2009 (many of the distilleries were very strong feeling about this as there had been cheap scotches being made around the world and flooding the market) As of 23 November 2009, the Scotch Whisky Regulations 2009 (SWR) define and regulate the production, labelling, packaging as well as the advertising of Scotch whisky in the United Kingdom. They replace previous regulations that focused solely on production. International trade agreements have the effect of making some provisions of the SWR apply in various other countries as well as in the UK. The SWR define "Scotch whisky" as whisky that is: 1) Produced at a distillery in Scotland from water and malted barley (to which only whole grains of other cereals may be added) all of which have been: - Processed at that distillery into a mash - Converted at that distillery to a fermentable substrate only by endogenous enzyme systems - Fermented at that distillery only by adding yeast - Distilled at an alcoholic strength by volume of less than 94.8% (190 US proof) 2) Wholly matured in an excise warehouse in Scotland in oak casks of a capacity not exceeding 700 litres (185 US gal; 154 imp gal) for at least three years 3) Retaining the colour, aroma, and taste of the raw materials used in, and the method of, its production and maturation 4) Containing no added substances, other than water and plain (E150A) caramel colouring 5) Comprising a minimum alcoholic strength by volume of 40% (80 US proof)
  4. We are going to another one this year if anyone is interested: Sherbourne Castle meeting on (i think) the 15th July. Maybe we can round up a few Zeds?
  5. I didnt know about it until my dads friend mentioned it. We had planned to drive back to Sussex that day, but delayed it so I could go burn some petrol
  6. Yesterday, I met up with my dad and friend in his TVR for a meet and drive around Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire. Was really good fun! Car was one of 5 other jap cars (out of over 100 cars) and got many looks and comments! It was a nice cruise out, just shame about the weather! Leaving the car park was good fun. Loads of people were lining the pavements around Stur and it felt like starting a gumball rally! Lots of people taking pictures and cheering. I gave them a couple of revs and a wheel spin or two
  7. I grew up on rock and metal. For me, Tool has one of the best drummers out there and they come up with gems like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiR1hmpk-x4 A perfect circle is another good band created by the lead singer of Tool: Nothing beats my other favourite band, 2nd best drummer ever: I have one of the widest collections of music and love trance, this is by far the best dance song ever made: Motown is excellent for a chillout session/party and this is one of my favourites: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CycTQ29ikAA And finally one of the best bands ever with one of my favourite songs, close your eyes, whack it up to 11 and pretend you are flying:
  8. we went to the place where that was filmed out in spain, was cool!
  9. Hello, I am looking for an OEM gearknob in good condition. Im also looking for the front door cards that have the holes and gaps for the door mounted seatbelts finished in the grey/purple-ish vulgalor. I think this is what I am looking for: good condition preferred of course!
  10. This. Def this. I use these guys for brakes on all my cars, I get the disc drilled and grooved and coated in the silver protection stuff.
  11. I know its an odd thing to advertise on a car forum, but you should have asked as im selling a ROG AMD RX580 8GB graphics card at the moment!
  12. Mine was bought 4 years ago and is still on the shelf due to not having the glue and paint!
  13. Merry Christmas to all my friend on here, to the people I have met, I hope to see you soon. To the many I have not, I hope to meet you!
  14. Ill be up for an IOW meet. I was conceived over there while my mum and dad were running Sandown YHA, so have always been attached to the place. Let me know when it will be and Ill let you all see my new red car
  15. I never had a problem with it and apart from one day its the only snow ive seen this year!
  16. Amen to that, Many a time ive needed something to get me home and Halfords have stocked it. Admittedly I have to re-mortgage, but its there on the shelf in a time of need
  17. Ill be up for it. I have a choice of which car I can bring too!
  18. My indicators did this (stayed on permanently, until indicator stalk was used and then they would flash in the correct direction) and the MOT tester failed it as: Nearside Front position lamp(s) incorrect colour (1.1.A.3e) Offside Front position lamp(s) incorrect colour (1.1.A.3e) I had to re-wired them so they weren't orange all the time and he passed it
  19. :oops: awkward! :oops: :whistling::whistling::whistling::whistling:
  20. Im sure that black car is the one I went to view a few months ago in west sussex. It was imported into the uk 11 years ago, but was never registered for some reason. It was in pretty good nick, had a misfire and smoked a lot, but it hadn't been started for years. I made him an offer, but he said the wife of the guy that owned it (he died and she was selling all his cars) was sending it to a charity to turn it into a track day car. It had done 40k KM or something really low. it just needed registering, an mot and the misfire sorting. The engine bay was spotless. He was selling a red one at the same time, I saw that one too, it had gone very very pink
  21. That's the one! I went to Nissan today and after explaining to the spotty 12 year old at the spares department what a 300zx was I was finally told the pipe is only in Japan, no stock in Amsterdam, and will cost £48 + vat l, could be up to 6 weeks to arrive too. I have the part number so will search the internet, see if I can get it cheaper.
  22. Happily driving home at midnight after work the other day and just happened to check my o/s mirror as at the same time the glass fell out! I watched and heard it bang down the side of the car! Nissans really like doing the unexpected, I should know this after 3 years of ownership really... On another note, my black one is sulking. I used the red one for 8 days to run it in and get used to it, then used the black one for 2 days, on the 2nd night it split a pipe on the back of the engine and dumped all its coolant (People may remember my trip to Europe last year...). Luckily I was less than a mile from home, so nursed it home and next day got my tame mechanic to look at it. Its fine, just needs a new hose, however apparently the hose is shaped like a double-S and weaves its way around the back of the engine, so I need to get one from Nissan as he cant supply it. I think ill have to use the black one more, just to make it feel more loved.... Is this the same with kids?!
  23. or 30mph and a wall  The wifes TT has an engine warning light due to a failing o2 sensor, that was an advise. My old audi 80 coupe had an abs light and that was a fail.
  24. I did indeed. I think I have a bumper somewhere, but cant remember what state it is in or if it red or pink. thanks for the offer, but ill let you know if i need it!
  25. Adrian flux were pretty bad when I was with them and at the end of the year my renewal quote was £300 more than I had paid with them the previous year! Thats why I shopped around and went with lancaster. My renewal with footman james is coming up soon, so ill see what they are like!
