I don't use facebook either, haven't done for two years now. This is the place to learn about meetings, items for sale and general chitchat. Agree with this, I have developed my car skills from not knowing which end of the spanner to use to being able to replace my entire suspension thanks to this forum. In my mind the £20 is well spent, its 5p/day or the cost of a mcdonalds latte a month...

Simply Japanese 2018
I would like to apologise that My friend and I didn't make it either. We were watching the BBC weather radar all night, then checked it again at 4.30am when we should have got up to meet and leave in convoy, but it was already torrential here and decided against. I don't really do car shows due to work and what not, but simply Japanese is always circled on my calendar, even Alexa knows it! I am gutted that I didnt make it, but well done to those that braved it! Not sure i like the carbon wrapped GTR or the slammed mx5, the datsun sunny seems retro and cool though! It annoys me because I spent most of the day before washing, polishing and caressing mine and my mates car to get them shinny and ready and it was all done in glorious sunshine! Then it started raining during dinner... oh well roll on next year with sun and heat...maybe get Stephen organising the weather again

Rear brake disks - stock
I have found them excellent. They seem better on the wife's TT but I think that's because they are bigger. When you brake there is a slight moaning noise from the rotor grooves as the pad is touching them, but with the windows up you don't hear it and i don't mind it anyway. maybe getting drilled only would stop the noise?

I also pay for the silver coating and paid about £270 all in i seem to remember. My wifes TT has them too.

Simply Japanese 2018
Will be coming along the A27, M27. Leaving Eastbourne at 5.45 if anyone from folkestone/Dover way wants to meet at the Polegate roundabout petrol station. We should be at Arundel by 6.45 for people who want to join on the way? We can pause at Arundel services just off the fake A27 junction before going through Arundel...

£628 for tickets to Japan... waiting for my holiday request and the wife to say we can afford it... then it will be rugby, shinkansen and car auctions...

World Cup
Englands modus operandi: Play well for 35 minutes, score. Come out at half time completely different and fall asleep. Get caught napping and start drawing, fail to up their level, start loosing. forget that it is a knockout and not a league game, pass the ball a bit. Realise with 5 mins to go that they are loosing...loose. Its been the same for as long as I have been alive. A few things I will take from this world cup: A lot of cheating from many different teams, mostly south american. The level of ref'ing has been pretty bad and bias VAR was useless...I suspect on purpose so they can have an argument for scrapping it. England players should have salaries slashed and national team training doubled. National team should out rank anything and everything. In 4 years time, hopefully we will see a better more mature team, until then Im off to watch the rugby

Traders and MOT checking
There is an app for android (maybe iPhone too, but I dont own one) called "Vehicle Smart". It is is really good, you can check number plates and its based on the MOT database so it updates as soon as the tester has done the paperwork. The app normally tells me if the car has passed before the tester comes out with the paperwork! You can save up to 4 cars in your garage and save all kinds of info such as VIN, paint codes, oil type etc which is great if you are forgetful like me! Lastly it will do HPI and outstanding payments on the car checks, but those you have to pay for. I paid the one off fee to open up the pro features, well worth it. I always use the app when looking at cars on the internet and it stops me even contacting some even before the looking stage. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jvelimited.vehiclesmart&hl=en_GB

World Cup
You would have thought we had won the world cup with behavior like this: http://www.kentonline.co.uk/ashford/news/england-fans-stop-traffic-after-win-184868/ There is another video somewhere of a road being blocked in Eastbourne by idiots as well. Football is spoilt by people like that who use "being a fan" as an excuse for bad behaviour. I also feel that the rise in fights and beatings at horse racing venues is linked to certain groups of people who would normally fight at football, but cant because of hightened security and match bans, so they go to the races, drink all day and pick on someone smaller than them and kick them in the head https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/6229309/goodwood-race-sussex-fight-man-kicked-head/ This countries attitude to alcohol needs to change. We dont need to get pissed all the time to have a good time, stag/hen parties, holiday with the lads, etc. How many people suffer because of one person drunk on a plane kicking off. How much of our money is spent in theNHS on sorting out drunk people on a Friday and Saturday night. I have enjoyed watching the world cup so far (its the only football I ever watch) but I wont go out and watch it. I would never taken my kids (when I have them) to a football match, its not worth the risk. Besides rugby is far better, safer and more polite!

Not sure what to do
This is why I have two. Yes its the double the money, double the trouble, double the skinned knuckles and broken wrists trying to do anything in the engine bay, double the fuel bill, strangely not double the insurance. However it means I can work on one and when I jump in the other it makes me grin and remember why I have them and to keep my spirits up when the bank balance is £0, blood pouring from my fingers and the bolt is still rusted stuck... We all have ups and downs in relationships, but we make them work. Stepping away for a few months might help you re-kindle some love and when its all done and you use that right pedal, the roar sounds and the boost makes all the C3s, iGos and the occasional ST driver go backwards, then you will grin and remember why you bought it, why you suffer the pain. I know it does for me...

Losing the love with the Z
Scratch that V8 itch with: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CHEVROLET-CORVETTE-EX-C4-SHOW-CAR/132663187472?hash=item1ee3579810:g:XM4AAOSwc~xbInXW or https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1975-Chevrolet-Corvette-T-top/132651880578?hash=item1ee2ab1082:g:tmYAAOSwUMxaH-Yv then go back to your zed and praise god/allah/budda that you didnt sell it  I would sell both my cars for a Nissan GTR. I would sell both my cars for any Lambo. I really want a Corvette C3 late 70/early 80 hardtop, but wont sell the Zed for it. I want an RX-7, supra (again) and a Celica GT4 (again), but wont sell the Zed for it. At the end of the day its your car, if you want to sell it and buy/try something else then go for it! We can advise you for/against selling up but its your money, you spend it how you see fit

I love having the roof off. I take it off even for the 7 minute drive home from work sometimes! I always have roof off, windows down and dont notice anything really. Maybe as the roof is off I expect it to be louder and windy?

The 300zx Detailing Thread
I did mine with a good wash with Autoglym shampoo, dried with a towel, polished with Autoglym polish, then ceramic polish (£11 - tiny little bottle, spreads on with a tiny sponge then buffed off) and then a very very light layer (Im talking a few sprays on a cloth for the whole car, molecules thick) of WD40. Every level of product used I went around the car several times and at the end buffed and re-buffed to make sure it was all out. That was done the night before the 1st may bank holiday. It took me over 4 hours total I think. I washed the car the other day and didn't need to polish it, the water was beading and running off, it was amazing!

Life on Mars
This.... Space travel is amazing and one (or three as it is a trilogy) of my favourite games is Mass Effect. I do wish I had been born in a time where we can travel to distant systems like we drive to towns now...

The excitement of been a new 300zx owner
Individualism. I like stock cars and am not a fan of bodykits, however I like cars to be different, I like cars to match personalities. I personally like cars to put a massive smile on my face and make my inner child go "WooooooW"! My cars are mostly stock, both have up and over rear spoilers because like the supra, I think it suits them. The red car has a different front bumper because it came with the car, but I don't hate it. At the end of the day we are all different and they are our cars so we can and will do whatever we like to do to them to make each of us go "WoooooW"!

L drivers on motorways !!
Learners need motorway experience how else will they learn than going on the motorway. I agree that the whole test needs updating. Change it more like the Finnish test so it takes two years and you have various stages and levels to pass before getting your full license, you could also make it more like the bike license and limit the engine size for certain ages. Learners on motorways dont worry me, but 17 year olds in VXR corsa/astras who bought the car new on finance and then scream around driving dangerously scare me... With great power comes great responsibility.... Also why not introduce a re-test element. Every 10 years when you have to up date your photo, why not re-sit a test. It would keep standards high and drivers up to date with the latest highway code changes. Not to mention how to deal with the ever increasing traffic. People who passed their test in the 50's or 60's for example would find it very very different now. Driving is a privilege, not a right. too many people forget that I think...

Cash for Crash?!
This I can believe, I feel it is the same with cyclists with cameras. Sometimes it feels like they purposefully put themselves into situations where they can get "good" footage to be uploaded. To quote a few others in this thead: I don't understand the baby on board sticker... Why drive like a **** with your baby/kids/wife on board anyway? How would you feel knowing you were the one killing/maiming them? The other one I don't understand are van drivers driving like idiots while they have their company name splashed all over the van. They are a 20ft moving adverts and yet they will overtake dangerously, cut you up and give you the finger while doing so. There are quite a few companies in and around Eastbourne I have sworn never to use because of they way I have seen/be treated on the road by them...

White UK 300 breaking
Excellent, many thanks. If you decide to not sell the engine as working, could I have the MAF please? maybe a few other bits too
