Help Please again looking for advice on this car
I don't believe there was ever an official Nismo version of the Z32, so that alone would worry me (as a potential buyer)! I could be wrong, but I've never ever heard of one before...

How many metres of material do I need for a interior retrim - long wheel base???
For the doorcards, rear quarters and all the rest of the (usually) fabric-trimmed panels, you'll need a couple of metres in length - that's assuming that whatever material you use is around 1.4m wide. :)

"You picked a fine time to leave me, Loose Wheel!" - Mondo's new Zed.
Update time :) So, the timing belt, water pump, thermostat, rollers and guides and stuff have all been changed. Apparently my thermostat and coolant looked terrible! Rocker covers have been painted and resealed as they were leaking slightly. Boost solenoid and map sensor have now been removed as someone's kindly cut half the boost controller out of the car before she came into my ownership! :( The fog light has been relocated to the rear panel, doing away with the red nugget that was attached to the number plate surround. Carbon canister's gone, as is all the EGR gubbins. Apparently most of the pipework around the plenum was loose anyway... Stock SMICs have been removed, along with the OEM couplers, and replaced with the Godspeeds and new silicone couplers. My stock 'coolers were bone-dry inside apparently, so that's good :) Aircon may go the distance if it needs regassing. There we have it so far. :) Really can't wait to get her back as I hate being car-less (especially with nice weather outside!) and just because I miss seeing her on the drive... :(

update on the zed
It did, so Jeff had to keep grafting on Zeds. But he's downscaled quite dramatically now, by all accounts.

A business question...
Thanks for your honesty.

Removed the wing today...
How do you suspect it's ended up with a bent floor then? Impact damage from a crash? I'm pretty gutted for you, if I'm honest. Especially if it was supposed to have had repairs done previously and that's what the internal rust still looks like!!! :(

A business question...
I'm lucky (for the most part) that the vast majority of my customers thus far have been content to send their interior parts to me, rather than leaving the whole car. Lack of a garage does concern me as a drive is obviously not as secure, which is just another thing that makes me think I'll need to consider premises in the not-too-distant future... One of the reasons I like working from home is because I can then work "unsociable hours" should I choose to (or should the deadline dictate it!), whereas premises would put a limit on that in some respects. Deep down, I k now that I'll need dedicated premises if I want to expand. The original question was: should the fact that I work from home make people (some people, anyway) automatically assume that my work will be sub-par...?

Damaged Blue Zed on a Trailer on the M62/M60
Didn't someone say there was a blue one rear-ended on the motorway somewhere a few weeks ago...? Could it be the same one...?

A business question...
Good points from all. And SteveE is correct that, if I want to expand properly at some point in the future then premises of some description will be a must. Just wanted to vent and get opinions about how businesses are perceived, that's all. I've only been doing this full time since September so I'm still learning every day! Thanks, gang :)

Centre arm rest swb
Cutting the LWB armrest cover down to fit a SWB is honestly really simple - you don't need to sell the cover you've bought. As Paul says: fit the cover at the front of the armrest then smooth it down and pull it tight across the rest of the length. You'd end up with about a couple of inches overhang at the back. Fold it under the back edge and mark the crease where the cover then starts to fold back on itself (due to the extra length), then cut along that crease. Glue what's left down underneath, put everything back together and enjoy your new armrest :) Simples!

A business question...
I guess what's prompted this bout of introspection is this: I recently had an enquiry off a guy with a Bentley Continental who was looking for the whole cabin to be trimmed. Now, I price my work based on cost of materials and labour, rather than increasing quotes based on how "loaded" I think someone may or may not be. Truth be told, I don't make a huge profit here - my hourly rate equates to waaay below minimum wage! There's certainly no way I could financially stomach premises right now and still be able to afford to cover all my bills! Anyway, this Bentley owner was looking at a quote of over £5k, which is so far below anything else he'd been quoted that it's ridiculous! So we were all set to go, right up to the point when I told him I worked from home... that's when he said, and I quote here, "No offence, but I'd prefer to use a proper trimmer!" :( As you can no doubt imagine, my confidence took a fairly good kicking at that point. I explained to him that my working from home was a good part of the reason that I was able to quote so low (fewer overheads) and that's when he delivered the killing blow: "Yeah, but this is a Bentley - I'm not going to let some amateur loose on it! I'd rather pay more and have it done properly!" All this, even after he'd said that my work was some of the best he'd ever seen. :( I guess I'm just worried that I'm destined to be perceived as "an amateur" as long as I work from home. There's only me doing this work and I'd honestly like it to stay that way - I love being able to see a finished interior and think to myself "I did that. Every last stitch!" I appreciate that this guy is just one solitary enquirer and that his attitude isn't necessarily going to be mirrored by everyone out there with a "posh car" but it's honestly kicked me in the teeth a bit and it's been bothering me for days...

A business question...
I appreciate the sentiment, Gary - thank you. But if you had a "high-end" car (subjectively, of course), would you not prefer to take it to a proper premises, rather than to somebody's house...?
