  1. Didn't you say you couldn't do bodywork or paintwork...?
  2. Exactly. If you're going to go to all that trouble and expense, why do it for a £900 (translated) Zed?
  3. I'm after a spare set of timing covers if anyone has some they fancy parting with...? Don't know if there's a difference between early and late engines or not, but mine's a 1992 one so presumably an early one. Cheers :)
  4. This last bit is surely completely irrelevant? It doesn't matter what sort of cars there are in this country if they're not for sale, because they're not "available" cars.
  5. Presumably most of the ones that are sold with "issues" are being sold because the owners either can't afford the parts to put them right, or are sick of throwing money at them...
  6. You need to up your budget... or look at a different model. That's just my opinion. You seem to want a very nice 300ZX TT, but only have the budget to buy a not-so-great one (in the current climate, at least). The maths just doesn't really work out at all, Dan. :( Put very simply, these are not cheap cars. Yes, some can be cheap to buy outright, but that's very rarely the end of the story - unless they have a good history with them, you'll need to factor in an almost immediate timing belt change as the last thing you want is for that to let go and wreck your engine! So there's another expense pretty much straight away. It seems that most of the "dogs" in the Zed world have now been sold for spares and stripped, which means the cars that are left will be primarily owned by enthusiasts. Which means they'll command a higher price tag than £2.5k, cos they've (in the most part) ended up being very well cared for. If you're very lucky, you'll come across a diamond on eBay or somewhere similar, but they're very few and far between now. The more likely outcome is you'll buy one and find it needs a decent amount of work doing - more expenditure on top of your original purchase cost. I personally think you're on a hiding to nothing with your current budget and wish-list, I'm afraid.....
  7. I figured that as this car is now my "investment" of sorts and I have precisely zero plans to get rid of her, I'd better make sure she's tip-top mechanically before I start attempting to plan things like full resprays and suchlike. The forged rebuild was done in 2010 and, according to the original owner (who I tracked down via Twitter), it was done for reliability rather then power. The spec sheet I have from Ashford Motorsport who did the build is pretty impressive... and expensive!... but a couple of things seem to have grown legs and wandered away from the car, namely the Apexi EBC (although all the pipework is still there) and the aftermarket ECU from a firm called KMS. The only ECU I can find is in the usual place and appears to be an ordinary Nissan one bearing a Zedworld sticker. So unless the KMS one is somehow inside that original box (is that even possible...?), then it's departed the car before I bought her :( To be honest, and I've thought about this quite a lot recently, I don't really want to be chasing big horsepower figures or anything like that. If she could be mapped and achieve somewhere in the 400s, I'd be satisfied with that and be happy in the knowledge that I own a beautiful looking machine that can still hold her own today, 23 years after she trundled off the production line. That'd do for me :) So first things first: make sure all the important stuff (timing belt, pumps, cooling, etc) is taken care of so she's as reliable as she can be. :thumbup1:
  8. Thank you for all the nice comments, guys :) No pictures with this update, but I think it's worth sharing anyway: Lee Dent and I have finally managed to settle on a date that suits us both so Diesel (for that is her name :) ) will be heading down to Shrewsbury early doors on March 24th to have some work done. This includes: Cambelt, tensioners and waterpump changed Plenum and balance bar swap and the relevant deletes done (if they haven't already been done when the forged rebuild was done a few years ago) All pipework replaced New radiator and waterpipes Hardpipes fitted And generally a thorough health check to make sure that everything's as it should be with her. Can't wait! For anyone who's even mildly curious as to why she has been called Diesel... a friend of mine has a little Jackahuahua that sadly has had problems with one of his legs since birth... he's called Diesel... so he's sort of only get three legs... and as my Zed sort of only had three wheels the day I got her...
  9. When did you manage to luck onto one of those then?!!
  10. Thanks guys. I absolutely properly love this car!! :wub::wub:
  11. The view from my living room window this morning: Truly a thing of beauty, in my opinion! :D
  12. Cracking news, this!! :thumbup1:
  13. I'm on a lot of forums.... ;)
  14. Yep, that was the picture I posted too... ;)
  15. Ah. Wondered if that might happen. :( It's a picture of a Celica ST182 with a full Vader kit on it... :thumbup1:
  16. Please don't make your car look like this one (for example): ;)
  17. Will you please just sit down and write some womens' erotic fiction, man...??!! You're blatantly destined for that career path! Do you quote Chaucer to the people you rescue...? In all seriousness though, glad to hear you're enjoying her! :thumbup1:
  18. 1. Iangreenfield Z32 2. Tmogsy Z32 3. Mondo Z32 (provisionally) If it's a 2 day event, is there camping or anything....?
  19. I do quite like the linked car, if I'm honest! Not normally a fan of one motor trying to look like another, but there's just something about that end product that appeals :)
  20. Man's seats, those! :thumbup1: They look in good condition too. Which is good, cos they're awful to strip down and work on!! :surrender:
