What did you do to your zed today?
We all love pictures so... Red snout badge :) And a not so great pic of a washer jet!

They look like the chaps, mate :)

What did you do to your zed today?
I absolutely refuse to take a picture or a video of my washer jets in "action"....!! Take my word for it... they put the OEM ones to complete shame...

What did you do to your zed today?
Volvo part number is 30655605 - I think they're off a V70. You have to put them in sideways as the locking tabs on the Nissan ones are front and back of the washer underside, whereas the Volvo ones are on the sides. Once they're located in the bonnet apertures, you just turn them to the position you want them to be in. Best. Mod. Ever...? :D

What did you do to your zed today?
I've done a few things today :) Cleaned all the roof inners and door shuts as they were absolutely filthy! She should look much more respectable now when the roof's off. Had a bit of a clean up under the bonnet in readiness for Lee Dent's on Tuesday. Again, pretty filthy originally but somewhat prettier now. Changed my nose badge to the nice red one I bought recently :) And the best thing I did today, by a country mile, is to change the washer jets!! I replaced them with a pair off a Volvo which give a "fan" pattern over the whole screen, rather than the two poxy "jets" off each original washer. Makes a world of difference to clearing the screen! I'd highly recommend anyone to make the same change! And finally, I gave her a damn good wash as I couldn't really turn up at Lee's in a spectacularly filthy Zed, could I...??!

What did you do to your zed today?
What did I do to my Zed tonight? Me and Fran went into Stockton for a bite to eat. Which, of course, involved a bit of a Zed-blast there and back! :D I do thoroughly enjoy driving that car, I have to admit... :) :)

It's acceptable, but you're NOT going to get a 500bhp+ rust-free Zed for the peanuts you're prepared to spend. And before you try and convince anyone that that's NOT what you're after, you did once famously tell Ian Greenfield that a 400-odd bhp example still wouldn't be fast enough for you... ;)
-
UK 300zx
But when someone finds what seems to be a nice example, you tell us that it's not worth the asking price as you can get far better cars for the money!
-
UK 300zx
But your "wants" are unrealistic on your current budget!! That's what everyone keeps trying to tell you... And I keep trying to tell you that an open-topped sports/GT car is going to have a higher price NOW than it did during the winter. But you don't want to accept that at all! The majority of people on here know far more about Z32s than you do. I know far more about them than you do, and I certainly don't profess to know everything. So when people are telling you that what you want is going to be nigh-on impossible to find on your current budget, you'd do well to listen to them.

You say your Skyline will be more fun than a standard Zed, right? When the sun's shining, are you able to take the roof off and enjoy the acres and acres of blue skies over your head in your Skyline...? No? Maybe the Zed is "more fun" for a different reason then... ;)
-
UK 300zx
*sigh* So you're bored of the Skyline anyway, but can't afford a good Z32. Impreza it is for then! :thumbup1: I honestly think this car isn't for you. You want to own a highly modified, highly maintained example, but only want to pay peanuts for it because "there are better cars out there for the money." My advice? Get yourself one of those "better cars" and pack in insulting the people on here who have a passion for these cars that extends beyond whether it's the fastest thing on the road or not!

How could a standard Zed possibly be "less fun" than a knackered Skyline...?? You've said you have a max budget of £4.5k. Go and have a look at it and, if it's good, offer him £4.5k in cold hard cash. If all you want is some sort of cheap road rocket, you're looking at the wrong car entirely.

What did you do to your zed today?
No probs :) As for Phutumsch's post: I've literally just booked my train tickets for my return home from Lee's on Tuesday

What did you do to your zed today?
You could've painted the entire caliper and then just ran a flat file across the top of the letters to take them back to the bare alloy ;) Looks much better now though :thumbup1:

To answer your questions, I've highlighted the relevant parts of your quote. Owners who are far more knowledgeable than you are advising you that your search criteria and budget are unrealistic together, so you're telling us all that "far better cars" can be had. I'm assuming that "far better" actually means "faster", right? But all is not lost. I believe I've found you not one but two Zeds that should suit you down to the ground! :D One belongs to FunkySi and the other belongs to JoelyP. Both are seriously well-maintained examples, both are modified, neither will have any rust whatsoever... sound awesome, right? Now, all you have to do is convince the owners that their respective Zeds are worth no more than £4.5k..... Should I sit comfortably here? Or am I ok to get back on with some work while you hit them with your sales pitch...? ;)

Why are you here? Seriously? You've come onto a forum for a marque of car that you'd like to own, asking for advice... then just disregarding said advice at every turn! If you simply want a fast car, buy a Subaru. You can be pretty sure it'll already have been modified to be quicker than standard, they come with rear seats (and rear doors) for your kids and they can be picked up well within your budget. If, however, you want to buy a sports/GT car where you can also have the benefit of open-air motoring when the weather permits, then you honestly need to start accepting that it's gonna come at a premium now the weather's getting better! You want to spend £4.5k on a heavily modified Z32 that needs no work whatsoever. How's that turning out for you so far...? All the Zeds out there that fit your dream description WILL command a higher price than that! That's just a fact. If you don't want to accept that, go and get yourself an Evo or an R33 or whatever else you can pick up for the ridiculous prices that Z32 owners are wanting for their well-maintained, quicker than stock examples. You say you can fix cars so buying a cheap Zed that needs work isn't a problem, yet you have a Skyline that you either can't or won't fix. The very same Skyline that you offered to give to me should you have bent my Zed during a test drive, although I'm not entirely sure why you thought I'd want or accept a broken Skyline in place of my very nice and perfectly working Zed which is clearly worth considerably more than your broken Skyline. Why not fix your Skyline and drive that while you're still hunting day and night for your dream Zed that only costs peanuts...? Maybe I'm just speaking for myself here... I don't know. But PLEASE stop coming on here and insulting the owners who put money and time and love into our cars by telling us that they're not worth what we believe they are!! Face it, the majority of the members on here know far more about Z32s than you currently do. So if they give advice, don't just disregard it flippantly please. Accept that you don't know anywhere near everything and learn from those who know far more than you do. And with that, I've said my piece. Good luck in your search.

There's your problem, summed up in one easy sentence... ;)

hydraulic bonnet strut
I have one of these that I'd like to get fitted at some point. But I don't really want it tucked down the side of the inner wing. There was a photo somewhere on here where one had been fitted on the top of the inner wing (on the battery side) so the strut would lie flat when the bonnet was closed. If anyone can shed any light on that installation, then that'd be great :thumbup1:

Who was it that wanted a Veilside exhaust?
Just wait for the post in "What did you do to your Zed today?" in a week or so for that answer! And no, that doesn't mean it was me.....

What did you do to your zed today?
I've just fitted my chrome interior handles, picked up on eBay for a bargain £10 for the pair!

Polished throttle bodies & linkages
Anybody got a pair of polished / chromed throttle bodies & polished (or at least very clean!) linkages for sale...? And maybe a CAS that's been polished or chromed too...? Cheers :)

How much rust is too much?
My maths is crap first thing on a morning!! As if I honestly forgot about the 25th Anniversary as well!! :headvswal

How much rust is too much?
I honestly think that, with your budget (even heading up to £4k), you're just not going to find what you're looking for. These cars are all between 15 and 21 years old. So, unless you can somehow find one that's been absolutely meticulously cared for but the owner urgently needs cash, they're all going to have some degree of rust! You may as well just accept that. You're not going to find a minter for that money. If I were you, I'd stop thinking that you're going to be able to spend the balance of your budget turning a Zed into a 500+ bhp fire-breathing monster and start accepting that any balance you may have left from the purchase will likely be swallowed up by servicing costs and tidying it up.

How much rust is too much?
Why don't you just fix the Skyline's head gasket and sell it for more than £2.5k...?
