There's still plenty left to do yet. I need to decide whether to have an 89 Spec or 99 Spec front end and have a couple more paintjobs done. Then the exterior's finished, at least!

"You picked a fine time to leave me, Loose Wheel!" - Mondo's new Zed.
Well, it's been a productive day today. I've inspected the bodyshop's work and it's good :) It's nice to have a spoiler that looks good again and a rear bumper that doesn't have a massive chunk of paint missing! I got my new front spacers on and there's no wobble with these! However, I've figured out that the original studs protruded very slightly from the face of the previous 25mm bolt-ons so that will have caused the wobble as the wheel wasn't actually sitting flush against the spacer!! As my alloys have that split-rim look, I thought I should get some nice bolts to finish them off. And I finally got all my spats fitted!! It's a shame the rears are the LWB type, but I still think they look pretty nice :) Anyhoo, here's how she now looks: I'm very happy with how she's taking shape now!! :thumbup1:

Poorly zed
Sad to read this, James... not the start to Zed ownership that anyone wants! :(

Well, mine's bonded on now and doesn't look out of place or anything :) I'll get my decals on tomorrow hopefully too.

Gary: unless it's an issue with their fitment of it, the spoiler seems to be maybe 5mm shallower at the front edge (nearest the rear windscreen) than the original one. I'm gonna have a proper look at the marks on the tailgate tomorrow in the daylight and see what's what. Tony: if I keep the bumper, that mesh is the first thing to be going in the bin! It's 'orrible looking stuff!!

So I've collected her from the bodyshop and they've done a nice job on the spoiler and rear bumper :) The only niggle is that the GRP spoiler seems to be slightly shallower (front to back) than the original so there's a couple of little visible parts on the tailgate where the paint's been damaged by the old one :( Only small, but they're there. If I send the 99 Spec front off for painting, I'll get them to rectify those marks on the bootlid at the same time. :thumbup1: All in all though, I'm happy that I now have a spoiler that isn't knackered and doesn't have a crap flaky blackout strip on it! I'll stick some pics up over the weekend :)

In two minds here... keep? Sell...? At least it turned out to be a genuine one after all! With indicators too! :) Well, off to collect Diesel from the bodyshop shortly so hopefully I'll still be smiling when I get home.....

She'll get finished one day!..........
Is this the one that was hanging up when I came to collect my spoiler?

Christmas Meal
I'll make sure I've got the cash on me, mate :)

Update: Diesel has been dropped off at the bodyshop to have the old spoiler removed, the new fibreglass one sprayed and fitted (along with a new blackout strip) and also the rear bumper is getting resprayed. :) She'll be ready for collection last thing tomorrow afternoon. In other news, I ordered a pair of polybushes from Driftworks to go with my Hicas delete kit. At least, I thought I ordered a pair but, in reality, I only ordered one of the buggers!! Muppet....

SWB Z on the Bay
It's the one you and I discussed when I was looking for one, Si. When I said I'd have to match the glitter paint because I'd change the front bumper straight away.

Another young one
You bought her then, mate! :D Welcome to Zed ownership. Are we going to be jostling for space over on CCUK now...?

Motorbike in Cycle Lane....
Oh mate, that's crap!! :( Especially after you've waited so long and spent so much to get her to that standard! Hope it's an easy claim for you, Tony!

If I were to sell my Zed...
£95k for a kit car...!!!

And speaking of terrible-fitting upholstery...
Even on your pictures, the fit looked terrible.... :(
-
And speaking of terrible-fitting upholstery...
....oh dear!! eBay link I've seen some awful fitting retrims in my time, but this is shocking! The upper bolsters are sooo baggy and the seams don't even look as if they line up with the edge of the foam underneath!! :2guns: :hurl:

If I were to sell my Zed...
...it'd be to help fund this: eBay link!! I've always wanted one of these cars....!! Just beautiful....

For all dog lovers...
Honestly, these two are just pure love... case in point: Rocco's had a bit of an eye infection recently and Marley will lick his eyes clean when he notices they're weeping... They're both from Dogs Trust and Rocco especially seems to have had a grim backstory - he came over from Ireland and they think he spent his life outside with no form of socialisation at all. He was scared of everyone and everything when we got him! But, as I said, he's coming right out of his shell now and he absolutely adores Fran. Marley was handed in to the local council cos his last owner couldn't look after him, so his story's not as bleak. But he still deserves a home where he'll be loved and happy, so that's why he lives with us in the countryside! It's just nice to be able to make a difference for them :)

For all dog lovers...
So do we, Gary: Rocco's on the left - he was a terrified little thing when we got him in June, but he's really coming out of his shell now. And Marley's on the right - he was about three times this size when we got him last year and he's just a proper big softie!!

Hicas delete query
I mean at the rear end, Si. Removing the Hicas rack will leave exposed line ends, won't it...?
-
Hicas delete query
When people have completely removed the Hicas rack from the back end, what do they do with the power steering lines that used to attach to it...? Plug the ends? Remove the lines from the car completely...? Any thoughts, please?
