  1. The wheels aren't staying, Gary - they won't clear my Brembo brakes. So the 19s off the black one will replace them for the time being, til I can get a new set for her :)
  2. Did that yesterday, JP :) Even with a spacer on, the other side was secure all round... but they're gone now anyway.
  3. I'm now the proud owner of a pair of brown undercrackers! And thank you - she's a very nice looking motor. Some little niggles I need to sort out (typical spoiler rot, for a start!) but the base car's very solid so, once she has new wheel studs, I can get on with the serious business of enjoying her properly!
  4. They're 17s, Taff - 9x17 on the back and 8x17 on the front. But they're not staying on the car as they won't clear the 345mm Brembo discs. Good to know what make they are though :)
  5. I was 1 mile north of Junction 47, Lexx - absolutely couldn't believe it! Gutted that I can't even drive the thing! But yeah, pop over any time, mate. Tom: even looking all forlorn with her hazards blinking away, I thought to myself "that's a nice looking car!" :D But hey, the forged engine in her (oh yes, paperwork to prove it too!) pulls very well indeed! I took the shortshifter out today as I didn't like it so that's one job ticked off the list at least. :)
  6. If I'd known it had them on before I set off, I'd have jacked it up there and then and got shot of them. Still, it could have been much worse so I'm thankful for small mercies. :) Anyhoo, not the best picture but the first chance I've had so: My two Zed driveway! Til the black one finds a new home anyway...
  7. Yesterday saw me head down to Kent to pick up my new Shortie! :D I got on the motorway to come back home about 4pm. At 9pm, I was safely tucked away... on the hard shoulder of the A1(M) near York with a grand total of 1 wheelnut holding my rear passenger wheel on!!! The other 4 studs decided to shear off while I was in the outside lane - there was an almighty bang, the back-end of the car went completely loose so I had no choice but to dive for the shoulder! :( The recovery truck arrived at 11pm and I slowly edged my new tripod onto the flatbed, before we headed off back to mine. Spoke to Mr F this morning and he's ordered me 10 new rear studs, so my new car is currently undrivable. Seems it had cheap slot-on spacers on the back, no spigot rings and the end result was 4 wheelstuds missing. Gotta love Zeds, eh...?!
  8. So I've bought myself a Shortie (more on that later) and I've been doing a couple of bits today. One of those bits was to change the clocks over. I dismantled the dash, did what was needed and then put it all back together again. When I went to turn the lights, nothing happened on the first click (sidelights) and on the second, only the main beam came on! No dash lights, taillights - purely the main beam! I'm guessing there's a short somewhere, but where the hell do I start looking...??
  9. I'm collecting the car tomorrow afternoon and I'm just trying to minimise the faffing about at the time. I think the government have dropped the ball with this, mind - a far simpler (and fairer) way would be to allow the tax to run til the end of the month, then make it the new owner's responsibility to tax from the following month onwards. It can't be long til there's a backlash about how they're getting 2 months' tax payments for every single used car (that's already taxed) that's sold in the UK now!!

I was hoping to get to this tomorrow but sadly, I won't even be arriving in Kent til mid afternoon :(
  11. That's what I was thinking, Paul. Just seems to be such a weird setup on the government's part (no surprise there!)
  12. I know that the rules have now changed on car tax and that it doesn't transfer to the new owner when they buy a car. My question is this: as DVLA are only notified of a change of ownership when the V5 is sent to them, what's the possibility of being stopped for "no tax" before the V5's been sent away....?
  13. Can someone in the know please delete all gpklewis1978's missing image out of his garage, because the error at the top of the forum is driving me insane...!!! Thanks in advance :)
  14. But Mark's hands are so much softer.... :1eye:
  15. Just to say a public thank you to Mark for helping me out in a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge way this morning when he really didn't have to!! :thumbup1: Very much appreciated, sir - thank you! :)
  16. I'm in need of a LWB tailgate in GL2 black please - this is the non-metallic black as found (I believe) on 91/92 cars at the very least. Preferably as cheap as possible as it's to go on my black Zed in order to sell it. Anyone...? :)
  17. It does seem a little odd... I mean, what made him bring it back now after three weeks of absolute silence? Is he a forum user and saw that he was in the public eye now...? And I'm very curious as to whether the OP actually saw the "friend" when it was returned and, if so, how many pieces the "friend" is now in...!!
  18. Right, what reason did this "friend" give for needing to borrow your car? Did they give any indication of how long they'd need it for? Any ideas where they were going? Are they married or anything like that? Is there a possibility they've used your car so they can't be traced using a car registered to them...? I can't see any reason why you've not only waited three weeks but are prepared to wait longer still!! Whether you're close to them or not, they've now stolen your car and the longer you leave it, the less agreeable your insurers will be if you want to claim...!!
  19. Very sorry to hear this. BUT I'm a little confused... if it's "gone missing" then how is it only "possibly stolen"...?? Surely it's either been pinched or it hasn't? Either way, hope you get it back soon.
  20. It's been reported that Lynda Bellingham (the Oxo mum, for anyone who's not familiar with her) has passed away following a battle with colon cancer. She may not have been a huge star or anything like that, but what makes this incredibly sad for me is that she recently decided to stop all her treatments for cancer in November as she wanted to effectively choose when she died. With that in mind, she wanted to die in January next year as she wanted to have one last Christmas with her loved ones. So very sad that she didn't live to achieve what I think was a very noble and touching last wish. :( RIP Lynda.
  21. I'll be going down the full delete route, I think - it'll save a little bit of weight too, which is always nice. :)
  22. Anyone got any recommendations for the best place to get a Hicas delete kit from? Based on my recent investigations, I think Z Centre's coming up trumps at about £176 delivered. Does anyone know of anywhere that can top that...?
  23. Today I took my Zed for an MOT... ...and she passed!! :D For Sale advert now updated!
  24. Anyone got a pair (or a full set) of the OEM rear spats specifically for the SWB for sale? I have a set for the LWB already, but could do with a pair for a Shortie. Anyone? Anyone...? Bueller...??
