  1. They look Spot on, I may well have to do the same. Have you tried fitting the sills with the el strip in the position it's in? my overhang looks about the same but wasn't sure if it would fit ok, and wasn't sure about cutting the strips length ways.
  2. Don't think mine will be out the body shop by then
  3. I'll more than likely be game for this, maybe only for the actual event though. will probably have to stop with some friends' in Leicester. Are we taking bets that it rains?
  4. Even if it's just used on windows, it would probably be cool.
  5. Got a couple more photo's of the front bumper in primer, it's looking very nice. Will probably be another week before I can start with the rebuild.
  6. Mine have the slight mirror finish too, one does look a little worse than the other. I wouldn't know where to start to refurb them, and I figured I'd have more chance of growing tits on a fish than getting a new pair so was just going to live with it. Mine are basically finished, Wish I'd thought of chrome plating, where would you go to get that done, I opted for rigorous polishing (still not enough to get some marks out, and may have put a couple more in from been a little hasty with the windy gun) and then I lacquered them after to try and protect the metal, but it dulled the shine a little which was quite disappointing. Should hopefully get them fitted while the cars in the body shop. I'll update with some photo's eventually.
  7. welcome to the club, another north east member  our summer meets will hopefully be booming. I'm another to disagree on the coilovers, I've got some miester r's also and they are sublime, the setup options are plenty so a soft ride is possible with them. I highly recommend them, especially if there's another group buy and you can get them brand new for around £500.
  8. Unfortunatly I've got guvi jobs to scope out. But next time I'll be game.
  9. Hey you stole my post, I was going to say the exact same thing, Ian arranged to meet so I could collect a rear Perspex strip. Absolutely thrilled with it Ian can't wait to get it fitted. Was a pleasure to meet you Ian, and thanks again bud.
  10. I think mine will still be in the body shop, but I may pop along anyway.
  11. Yeah dude that's what I'm prepared for, I just think He's a little optimistic. I'll keep the thread updated with the progress I'm guessing it's going to be a couple of weeks.
  12. Forgot about the first photo until I posted it. That's the bit where the bottom bolt was on the bumper. He's going to cut all that out and weld a new bit over the hole too, that's gotten worse since the last time I saw it on a lift. Think I need to raise the back up and soften the suspension a bit, the wheels been rubbing on the guard for the fuel cap pipe too.
  13. Here's a couple more photo's from today. The sill does feel pretty solid, still sounds hollow. but it's hard to tell how far the filler goes up from the old repair. So that was Dean's (the paint guy) worry about welding it. but he said he'll see what it looks like after he's ground it back. If it needs welding then it'll just cost a little more. Either way he seemed pretty confident he'll be able to sort it. He'd made a start on the bumper, he's gunna get it primed up before making a start on the shell.
  14. Yeah that's what I thought, I'll post up some more photo's later on after I've spoke to the paint guy. Cheers bud.
  15. Nightmare, So how much do you think I'd be cutting out? Do you think I'd have to go into the door frame? I don't think the other side looked too bad, I figured it was just because of the dodgy repair.
  16. Yeah the rear quarter has been repaired before, I remember LeeJude telling me he stoved it into a bollard I think. It's always looked a little off at certain angles, There was bubbles of rust just above the skirt, it was one of the deciding factors in me getting a full shoot. I'm not sure the paint guy actually had a proper look at it, he was busy rebuilding a galaxy. I know he can weld, he was talking about welding up the rear wiper before he noticed the insulation, so I don't think he's avoiding it, but i'll have a talk with him later. Guessing you don't rate the rust treatment paste either Si?
  17. So even if the rust hasn't broke through and there's still solid metal underneath you still think I should steer clear of fiber glass? I thought if there's a hole then yeah fare enough but if it was just surface rust it would be OK. I'm nipping back up the unit today so I'll get some better photos of the rust.
  18. Yeah that's not a bad idea, I'll have a look at that.
  19. On which part the sill or the bumper? I thought as long as the rust was cut away and the metal treated with something like this http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_188249_langId_-1_categoryId_165594 Then it should be ok.
  20. Got the car stripped out yesterday, surprisingly it didn't take that long, the rear bumper was a bit of a chew on but managed in the end. There's some rust at the bottom of the sill on the near side, no holes though yet, although with a solid enough jab it may have gone through, the spray guy said he would grind it back and take all the rust out, and then use fibre glass to build it back up. Is this the best way to do this. also lost a good bit of metal on the rear bumper support at the bottom of the wheel arch. The bolt holding the bumper on at the bottom ended up with a rounded head, I only got the bumper off by pulling bits of rust off around the bolt, I was thinking of just cutting the rust out and then not replacing it. didn't think it would effect the bumper all that much. Any thoughts?
  21. So after much deliberation between the Impul front and the Stillen front, I have decided to stick with the Stillen, And the car is going in the body shop tomorrow  The sprayer owes me some heavy discount for wiring his compressor and spray booth so I'm getting the full car sprayed. I've got a slight bit of rust coming through on a rear arch, and some more above the skirt on the opposite side, So he's going to sort all that out too. And hopefully remove the rear wiper I have to give him a hand stripping and prepping it though so i'll take some photo's of the progress. :hyper:
  22. They look class, reckon we could get a group buy going? Saves me digging a pit in my garage. What would you do if you needed the wheel off though?
  23. That looks good dude, did you not have to shave any of lip off?
  24. Looking like this is going to be a very tasty motor when it's all finished
  25. Nigel will probably be game too, not sure if his is on the road over winter though.
