Thanks Richard. I’ve had the car nearly 15 years now and it’s an awfully long time to own one toy. And in total honestly whilst I still love the car and will doubtless be gutted to see it go I’d like some other cars. In an ideal world I’d keep it and buy another but I don’t have the space and resources for a Jay Leno style collection 😄 I have short listed a few a may even go through a few of them quite quickly. Who knows. Time for something different.

I thought here would be the best place to put this. The journey has to end. I’ve officially decided to sell my car. I haven’t quite decided on when or what exactly il do but it’s time, as a few know I’ve been thinking about this for a while and I’m now decided.

Oddly enough because the Volvo was three years old we’ve been looking recently. So among many things I test drove the 330e Touring, similar set up and really liked it and the X1 Hybrid which was reasonable. The lead times on both were horrific though, I think the 3 series was about January… I really didn’t like the Merc auto box, which even in the C and CLA models is still a Renault one… in the end we went for the 2 series Grand Coupe as they offered a good deal which is a great mid sized car.

The more I look at the Z35 the more it feels like a Z34.5. ?

Delete them, they look naff and are of no real use. My van has them, I do a considerable amount of driving it it and they don’t help they just make the lights wet you’d need a wiper like on some lorries to actually make the damn things useful.

Gearbox = sourced TT flywheel = sourced Flywheel bolts Pressure plate bolts & washers transmission plates. Worst case make one from tin, easy enough. Propshaft = sourced Clutch booster, lines and vacuum canisters Clutch master New pattern ones are cheap. Clutch slave as above. Clutch lines ZCentre one piece. Clutch pedal Find an NA one, then you won’t need the booster etc. Brake pedal Cut the Auto and fit a new pad. Shifter and linkage Shifter brace 2x rubber shifter boots Shifter boot Shifter boot retainer Shift bushes Gearknob Wiring harness Why?

Basically in the cam cover breather, there’s a brush and a restrictor bush. Check they are in there, that restrictor is what pushes the crank case pressure slightly negative. You can also cut that pipe and install a non return valve. This will put the crank case into negative pressure.

Have you checked the fuel pressure? What condition were the plugs in when removed?

Have you done a boost leak test?

Pull the engine. Whilst it might seem easier to do with the engine in, some of those bolts won’t have been undone, well, ever and a few a pig even with the engine out. Plus the fact that you will find other issues. If you’d had it all out recently and knew what was going on down there, then yes you could do it but I assume you haven’t and you don’t so it’s best to do it properly. It’s no where near as big a drag as you’d first think.

Does sound like classic turbo oil seal failure. Check if the exhaust is separated with an X or H pipe, sound like it is. These early Garrets have poor rear oil seals and if the pressure inside the turbo core (crank case pressure) is higher than the pressure in the exhaust the fluid will likely leak. This is why it happens once warm and on idle, sometimes just the aircon being activated is enough to stop/stem it. There’s various reasons for this like poor compression, bad vacuum, exhaust design and even blockages in the turbo drains. Check that the engine vacuum system is working effectively, not only is this functional PCVs but the restrictions in the cam cover tubes. Mine did the same after decat, rebuilt the turbos and they still did it a bit. I then modified the vacuum so that there was more savaging and it’s been golden ever since.

The use of gender to items is because of the attachment to a god of, the cat god is a lady so cats are hers etc etc. The French have retained this linguist quirk but most of us have dropped it as language evolved, I expect there’s an element of the monotheism of early Christian culture. In English culture we’ve retained it for certain things like boats. Also some regional dialects use it, it’s not uncommon to hear “pass us the she” in this part of the country from the older generation when wanting a tool. The PS pump can drip down to the belts and cause slip, have a look but a tighten is likely the solution. I have underdrive pulleys and mine will squeak now and again, usually when there’s an audience.

First time I’ve done this event as a Dad and there was minimal moaning. I think she would of spent the whole day in the playground, which was massive and I’d not visited before. I did end up spending a mortgage payment on sweets but that’s days out! ? Good to see some familiar faces, some who haven’t got Z32s anymore too. The traffic getting back across the Forest to Dorset was not so fun…

What kind of mods do you have? Mines not exactly stock and I’ve not had an issue. Only a few years older than yourself.

Took mine out to get some bit last week. 60 mile round trip, which is the furthest it’s been in a while. The fuel useage was pretty scarey on the way there… haha.
