  1. Seems perfectly legitimate.. they've completely revised the intake and exhaust system AND they're running race fuel. I think that fuel alone must be good for an extra 10-15%. still impressive though
  2. My shame is DECAF coffee.. Can't handle the real stuff - it makes me  Its rrrrreally frustrating when you smell other peoples coffee but can't have one yourself. I used to drink 20 cups a day, which is probably why I have a problem now.. Decaf just isn't the same, no matter how good it is - its like alchohol free beer (pointless).
  3. Is it for T25's or your T28's??
  4. I fixed mine (for 60 quid) and 2 months later the same thing happened! Got it fixed again, copied my data and part exchanged it with Game for a slim line. I wouldn't bother mate, not even for 30 quid..
  5. Thats interesting... Any easy way to check which diff I've got? If anything, my speedo is reads slightly under 25mph per 1000 in fifth. I think 4000 rpm equates to just shy of 100mph (about 96, i think). My car has 17 inch wheels fitted (235/45/17), so I would have thought these were very close to the standard wheel circumference? Could this suggest my car has an N/A diff, or is it more likely to be a calibration error? Cheers
  6. Hey Jaffa, My mate is selling his E46 M3 at the moment. He has had a load of new parts recently and its major 2 service.. Its also just had both front and rear bumpers sprayed - because he's a nut job and couldn't bare to live with stonechips or where someone had nudged the rear bumper in a car park. Its wanted for nothing and my mate is religious about maintaining his cars - he also has a 250bhp Caterham and an immaculate R33GTS - just to give you an idea about his obsession with cars. I know he wants more for his M3 than 12k, but so far he's had zero interest. Its a buyers market for M3's (there sooo common, lol). I will get some details for you. Its a dark grey SMG on a 53 plate I think, I'll find out where its advertised so you can have a look. He said exactly the same about the SMG 'box by the way, but I think you learn how to drive around it.. Found the advert: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2852093.htm Shame you're in Brighton...
  7. I'm guessing there wasn't much left to go - depending where your rev limit is set. I'd say this was as close as anyone has got so far. Is it right to think an auto would have the legs over a manual when it comes to absolute V max (power permitting)?
  8. I wouldn't take the risk mate - if that pump fails and you don't notice your rad is boiling, then its goodnight engine. DOn't think the water pump is expensive to change either.. Metal on metal screeching means something is getting hot and worn..
  9. Awesome! What do you lift with the other hand!!
  10. I had to replace the rear shocks on my car. I only noticed it on broken road surfaces under acceleration. Which ever wheel was worst affected, would bounce up and down until it found some smooth tarmac again. The rear end would wander off line slightly too, but as a Hicas arm was also worn its difficult to say which had the greatest influence. It feels rock solid now though. If your car has adjustable coilovers then try adjusting the dampers first, but i'd be surprised if they were set so hard they caused the car to bounce. Unless they are cheapo ebay jobs and the spring rates are way out.. I've had coil overs on other cars and even when in their harshest settings they never 'bounced'.
  11. I think for the purpose of this argument, you are right. If the car fell horizontally it probably would only reach about 120mph. If if fell nose first and maintained this position its speed would be higher due to improved aerodynamics. I am going for a spin later, so I will test my theory properly and I will let you know how I get on. I can forsee one problem however!! yep, how will the speedo work??? Any ideas guys?
  12. Not exactly sure - the gearbox ratios are the same I think, its just the diff which is different. I would guess there's something like a 10% difference between the two. If, hyperthetically, a TT is geared for 180, then a N/A would be about 160. Although, going on whats been said here, I think you're looking at about 140mph all done - possibly more if you start tweaking the engine. If you're running down hill with a tail wind, then you'd probably hit 150! If you drive it off a cliff, you should get upto about 180 if you have enough height..
  13. Whats needed? Plenum water bypass? Hope you get it sorted soon bud
  14. I remember reading about these when I still at school, when you compared it to what else was available at the time, it was a serious performance car (300+ bhp!). Kind of like an Italian Porsche 928. Looks like its been on a serious dose of steroids too - like a bouncer in an Armani suit! If I had one of these in the garage I think I'd have to get an Intergrale Evo to compliment it. Ard as fookin' nails!
  15. Awesome! I'm heading upto Perth and Aberfeldy start of July to see my family, will keep my eyes peeled!
  16. http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1696163.htm Sounds like you saw a Shamal!
  17. What's up with the car Rob??
  18. 6 cylinders good, 4 cylinders bad.. Sounds like a good idea, good luck with the rot!!
  19. speak to someone who does this and has experience of importing cars. They will soon tell you what's what. I've heard many horror stories about importing cars, but someone imported my car and many other good uns on this site too, so it is possible. Maybe with the Yen falling it might be a good time to do it again as well? It will probably be a lot more expensive though, so unless you're after a '99 spec low miler, I'd advise against it..
  20. Sounds like you've got your sensible head on, so all credit for that. Its always a tough decision when you need to make a sacrifice, but from the sounds of it, this is one which will pay dividends in the future. Look at it positively, once you've got your 4 bedroomed house with triple garage, you'll be needing something to fill up that spare slot in the garage! Good luck with the sale mate, make sure you get that black paintwork nice and glossy!
  21. I'm guessing the company will be taking care of the kids' schooling too? Hopefully in an environment with other european kids? I think the middle east could teach Britian a lot about how to bring up kids - from what I've seen. But I've seen relatively little of that tbh. There certainly isn't a problem with yoof culture in the UAE. I think you would be fine - I'm not convinced your kids would enjoy it so much. Approach it with an open mind however, it could also be the best thing to happen to them in terms of their employment prospects / education etc. There would be much less chance of them falling in with a bad crowd.. See what people say who have lived there and experienced it first hand - I'm sure there are some differences between the UAE and Saudi. Dubai is (relatively speaking) quite relaxed about its alcohol laws and things like that, but I doubt Saudi would be quite so. Not that you'll be wanting to go out and get smashed every night, but their attitude towards that is indicative of their general acceptance of western culture. I think Saudi would be a step further back than this - but providing you abide by their rules it shouldn't be a problem. One thing though - its fooking hot as hell! :sweatdrop:
  22. Think Nascars used to use steel wheels - I remember seeing some which were at least 13inches wide!! That'd be fine for the Zed..
  23. What would be the basis of your contract? to live there permanently, or to travel back and forth with the majority of your time spent there? Would you be living in a house, or a hotel etc.. Do your family go with you (if you have any)?
  24. Changed your tune a bit Hollowpoint - probably explains why you think it was a race car first and a road car second!!:lol:
