  1. Well thats very generous of you - call it a deal. Travel each way is about 400 miles so thats about 200 quids worth of fuel. 14 hrs driving plus expenses (lunch etc) I'll call that 150, So thats 350, less 10% forum discount.. lets make it a round figure of 300 quid.
  2. I'll be up that way and coming back to Leicester at the end of this month - if you can wait that long? What parts have you got to collect?
  3. IF only we had the funds and skills when we were kids, that setup makes scaletrix look totally pants! Your kids must be well chuffed! :cool3:
  4. Are you talking about the female staff here? I have to sit on the fence with this one. I can see the schools point - some kids are sent to school on a diet of pure shite. I see it a lot round my area, people feed their kids on stuff from the freezer (normally heated in a deep fat fryer) or snacks like crisps and sweets. I think its got a lot to do with the parents, but unfortunately its a proven fact that kids from poorer backgrounds have a less nutritional diet. The schools are trying to make children (and parents) think about what they eat. It was the same when I was at school, but obesity wasn't such a problem then. Computers were less mainstream and kids played more outside, I think. Nowadays, I see way too many little fat kids, who in turn are going to spawn their own little fat kids and at the end of the day its MY tax that's gonna pay for this almighty **** up. The schools cannot treat one group of kids differently to another, so are forced to treat everyone the same rather than targeting the problem kids. If it was me, I'd probably be a bit pissed off too - but on the other hand, action does need to be taken. I don't know what the levels of obesity are at your kids school, but I know I've noticed how many little chubby red-faced kids there are these days. The way I look at it - if it saves me money in the long run and (less importantly) means we have a healthier nation, then it must be a good thing. Assuming it works, that is. I should also state that I spent 12 months installing exercise equipment in school playgrounds and saw first hand the level of obesity in hundreds of schools all over the country.
  5. Well, best of luck with the new project - I'm sure it will be a success. I've seen more ridiculous ideas in my time, like a guy who shoe-horned a BMW V12 into a 3 series compact. Fast as fook, but cornered like an oil tanker! Why not stick a w-a-n-k-e-l in instead?
  6. Don't get why you would want to put a heavy V6 over the front axle of a 200sx? Other than for masochistic pleasure. :confused1:
  7. My parents live just outside of Aberfeldy, which is a very pretty area. Anywhere north of Perth on the A9 and it starts to get more spectacular. Then of course you have the Cairngorms which are very impressive. The west coast is simply stunning, but the driving can be a little difficult on single lane roads. I think you're spoilt for choice really bud - maybe look at some of the tourist sites and see what tickles your fancy. When I take a trip up at the end of this month, my plan is to drive all the way up Glen Shee - I went snowboarding there last winter and thought to myself that the Zed needs to do this road. SO it will - about 10.30 in the evening, just as the sun is below the horizon with the roof tops off and the exhaust playing my favourite tune! :cool2:
  8. I couldn't say for certain, but I don't think you can go wrong with a lock out kit.. The bushes look like they're made of nylon and not rubber, so should last a while. Other than that, it isn't a moving part - so unless its really poor quality it should be fine. Looks ok in the pics!
  9. http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_17&products_id=43&osCsid=1e9d0ec3f1e75d9bc64442a0dfafb4e1 Should be less than 700 quid all in..
  10. Not sure where you would get them, but probably drift works or sumo would be able to supply. If you have an older model zed you'll also need a new fuel rail too - might be as simple to get them from Z1
  11. Turn it down buddy.. Z1 supply injectors quite cheaply, but you'll have to pay postage and import duty - so if its just injectors you want, you'll probably find them as cheap in the UK. Your standard injectors are 370cc, so you probably want 5-600cc's to handle that extra boost. Be careful with that pinking - its the sound of your pistons melting!!
  12. I'll be honest mate, I thought owning a zed would be a lot cheaper than it actually is. I bought my car for 3.5k and was expecting to have to spend a few hundred making it mechanically sound. And, to be fair, for a while that's how it worked out. But then disaster struck. I think, if you find a good one and have reasonable luck, then it will only cost the same as any other performance car. If you are handy with spanners it will cost even less. The age of these cars means very often they will require work and some parts changing. There are cars out there in your budget that will be maintained to a high standard - but any car with 150mph+ performance needs to be kept in good condition. Do not expect to get away with bills similar to a super mini etc. The biggest cost by far, if you're using it every day will be petrol. These cars average anything from 200-300 miles on 75quid. I couldn't afford to use my zed as daily transport..
  13. Just had a go mate, but the picture is too small and there are not enough pixels for me to work with. Result looked like a childrens drawing book, post a bigger pick up..
  14. Which tubs are these then? New to you, new new or old but new. Hope that makes sense!
  15. If you're struggling to get there - get someone else to check it for you - if its a good en you can always make some travel arrangements, but it will save you time travelling to see lemons. ANyway... what do you think girlfriends are for? She can drive the pug back home!
  16. With the amount of different motors parked outside your house I'd be surprised if the rozzers WERE'NT monitoring you for suspect activity! Looks like a tidy motor though - upmarket too! Just soul destroying to drive I imagine (VW's understeered resolutely last time I drove one). But, its a sensible car, which is what you need. As you say you've always got Zedward Jnr for the odd blast! Good luck with the new motor (are you on first name terms with the DVLA yet?)
  17. Sorry to hear what the little fookers did to your motor. Why is it you're never about when these low life scum are about? It would be worth them doing it just so you could catch em :gun_bandana: Nice one for the product review however - I bet there's a lot of people here who have got the odd scratch they have tried to polish out but couldn't. From how you described it, it must be awesome stuff!
  18. yeah - good advice Drive a few before you buy and don't limit yourself to cars which are in your local area. You may need to travel for the best cars. Also, members on here will be more than happy to help you look at a car if its in their local area - all you have to do is ask. If you buy a good en, you'll be smiling from ear to ear. If you buy a wrong un, your bank manager will be the one who's smiling!
  19. Hi mate, Welcome to the club - you'll find plenty of friendly advice on here and some pretty good cars for sale at the moment too, in the for sale section. What are you after? TT? N/A? SWB, LWB? Also - you might need more than just a bit of courage! Cold hard cash always helps too!
  20. I've completely lost track of which Zed you are running now Jim! So I had a look in your rides section - is it the silver one? Ian has the blue one now.. right? Or have you still got that red one? :confused1:
  21. G reg.. Money spent on wheels and interior, but not on engine (or no eveidence provided at least). Greddy boost controller.. Best of luck with that! Tick tock, tick tock :whistling:
  22. Its the Corvette Engine... dumb ass!
  23. Ooo, is it an LS by any chance? Maybe an LS7, perhaps? :gunsmilie: Still can't believe you're pulling the plug on your current engine - but that's your decision bud. Let's hope you have a little better luck with your next idea and get a good return on your present lump.. LS FTW!
  24. I agree, seems an arse-about-face way of doing things. They've spent a fortune on other bits then completely neglected the really important bits. With another 3-4 grand thrown at it, it would be running a pretty steady 500+ setup without having to run stock components beyond their limits. Lets wait for the next thread titled - smoking badly, any ideas??
  25. They're running race fuel.. 116 octane - so they have probably advanced the timing as far as humanly possible and wound the turbos up full chat, knowing they will not get det (or less likely too). You couldn't do this on standard pump fuel. Also, as already mentioned - this does not mean the engine won't go bang in 100 miles or less. Take the fuel out of the equation and the results are far more believable.
