wheel fitment
You can pretty much get an original set of alloys for 50 notes, usually. May be worth looking in the 'for sale' section or popping up a 'wanted' note.

new Wimpey Eggbox
Good luck Pete! 8 week turnaround? The plumber should have selected which washers he will use by then.. B&Q might have even got the new kitchen units in that time too. But the window companies are pretty quick, it has to be said. I know they're not all like that, but there's so many fecking useless ones out there. I still haven't recovered from the serious dose of bullshit I recieved when I did my house 4 yrs ago! Anyway, hope it works out for you bud!

New Toyota....
I'd still rather have the new Lamborghini Aventador... Don't think the new Toyota is trying to compete with GT-R, i would say it was more in line with a BMW 3 Series, or Nissan Silvia etc. I think the emphasis of it is supposed to be the handling rather than whether it can do 0-60 in 3 secs in the wet. Not one for the top trump brigade then. Good to see more affordable sports cars though, we'll have to wait and see how affordable it is.

hero or zero
If you go all the way through the posts, he shows off other scars he's got. He's been in way too much agro for some 'good lad' just trying to help folks. I'm also well suspicious of young guys with really nice cars. Where do they get their money from? He doesn't look like an investment banker.. The fact there is a punch bag, pride of place in his room/bedsit makes me even less convinced this guy is a good en. Its easy to jump to conclusions, based on a very small amount of info though. If it wasn't for the women who could collaborate his story then I'd just say it was a stack of schit, which he will ultimately cover himself in. I'll be interested to see how this one pans out..

Saab update, if you haven't all lost the will to live yet, like I have
I wish! Drugs are for mugs - make sure you tell your kids!! There's just this part of me which wants to release my inner psychopath - I try to ignore it most of the time, then find myself trying to get to sleep while thinking of inhumane ways to torture people who have wronged me. I think its just a release method - but quite effective. Give it a try, it might help you to relieve some of your stress??

New Toyota....
Doesn't look too bad to me, but there are quite a few styling cues which have blatantly been robbed from other cars.. What really interests me is the idea of using a flat 4 for low centre of gravity and the expected kerb weight of about 1000kg. Even with 250 brake its gonna shift. Should handle well too. Its about time toyota pulled their finger out and made a proper FR sports car. All those AE-86's in Japan must have done a million miles by now. I just hope they don't over tyre the dam thing like every other car on the market these days. When will people realise that tyre profile and progressive break away can actually be good things? But then again, most things are style over substance these days - so I won't hold my breath.

I'd say get your car sorted or scrapped, whichever is most cost effective and then just wait a little while until the garage have forgotten about it, then start a campaign of dark, sadistic, totally over-the-top reactions - which culminates with the smug arfur daily type exploding with a 34lb firework planted in his rectum. That's always one of my favourites! Each to their own though..

hero or zero
How come we don't have threads like this in our forum?? C'mon you lot - toughen up! Sounds to me like it's all a bit fishy. He drives an Evo too, so that's a bad start. Sure there's more to this story than first glance would suggest. I'm off to look for a heroin in distress (with my Samuri sword in my pocket)!

HKS turbos
Paul, The 2530's are quite a big turbo aren't they? I remember you saying they were the equivelant of the Garrett GT675's? Thought you had the PE one's must have been someone else - I get confused easily  Big C, Do you know if the tubs you have will fit? I.E: the manifold and downpipe stud patterns are the same etc? The original 300zx tubbies were pretty small to start with (well, not massive, put it that way), so unless you've managed to find a pair of Suzuki Cappacino turbo's, I''m pretty sure they'd be a worthy replacement. Couldn't you stick 'em on and see how it goes?

Uk or jap rear
Love it when these threads basically turn into a 'vote for your own zed' thread! I voted for JDM spec bumpers, er, because that's what I have - so it must be the best?

HKS turbos
Is there a particular reason you want HKS turbos? Just did a quick forum search for you, as this is quite a common topic, but I can't work out how to copy threads (only been here 18 months, lol). Type in '2540' or '2510' in the forum search, if you put 'turbo' in you'll be there all day. I put in 2540 and found a thread in the advanced tuning section from a few years back which seemed pretty informative. Jaffa, Jaffa32, Paul C all have intimate knowledge of turbos (probably), I think Paul has some Power Enterprise (PE) turbos, but are very similar to HKS ones. Infact, many people on here will have pretty good knowledge of turbos, so if I didn't mention your name, please don't take offence!! I assume you were interested in the 2510's as opposed to the 2540's because you want more spool, less lag?? I wouldn't limit yourself to just HKS tubs, keep an open mind fella - unless you've already got/been offered a pair??

battery losing charge
I killed my battery by leaving the alarm on all the time - if it stood for more than a weak, the battery would be completely flat. It just got worse and worse. Do you use the car regularly? If so, then the battery should be getting ample charge. Check the battery connections are clean and free of grime. My work car wouldn't start the other day because of this.. The battery was fine, just poor connections - but it was exactly the same as having a flat battery, just click, click, click when you turned the key..

My new z:)

My new shortie' TT
I've never driven a truck designed for the Arctic. I guess they must have the huge monster tyres to spread the weight over the snow...? If you meant artic(ulated) truck, then I have driven several of those and can assure you they are much less nimblesome than my Zed! :tt2: I've never attempted to powerslide a truck either, as I'm pretty sure its impossible with the trailer attached (unless you live in Hollywood). On a serious note though, what is the difference in wheel base length? I seem to recall its about 8-9 inches shorter isn't it? I wonder if anyone knows the corner weights of the two versions? With the SWB having the fuel tank inbetween the two axles (compared to the LWB hanging out the back), you would have thought that the weight balance would be pushed further forward? Surely that would only increase its propensity to turn/spin? Looks like I will have to buy one and find out myself. Anyone know if there's a '95 spec TT SWB for sale anywhere?!
-
What Turbo?
Yeah seconded, It might say T28 in size, but it certainly ain't a Garrett unit at that price. Given how quickly a turbo spins and how hot it's operating temperature is, buying cheap turbos will only cost more in the long run. As tempting as the power vs cost ratio may be, I would think more about longevity.

My new shortie' TT
I'm really surprised by the handling comments.. To me, it would have seemed logical that the SWB would be easier to turn than the LWB and therefor more twitchy - especially in the wet. In my experience (although I've never driven a SWB zed) the longer the wheel base of a car, the easier it is to catch and drift. Yet you guys are saying its the opposite? Any ideas why the SWB has this uncanny ability? Really must get myself a drive in one..

New GT R on TG
I didn't see this.. Is it a 'new' GT-R or a facelifted (looks identical to the old one) model? From the specs it sounds exactly like the old one. What's so new about it? Cheers

What Turbo?
you running uprated internals / pistons with those?

zed equals big smiles
The list goes on and on - you never reach the end! Even when the body work is done you'll only find something to do in the interior! But with it running right, the addiction will probably begin to take hold more tightly  Congrats bud, enjoy
-
What Turbo?
Granted. Performance wouldn't be increased, but you would have piece of mind which is just as, if not more, important than performance. I was just trying to be practical - the man said he didn't want to spend mega bucks.

Nissan parts price hike again!!
At this rate the car will be worth 5-6 times more in parts, than as a whole. Looks like Big Jim is in luck! How many Zeds are gonna get it this year??? :whistling:

What Turbo?
T28's are for the 200sx, but there is only one turbo. If you pair them up on the VG then they are a pretty decent upgrade. Several people have been down this route and I think the general consensus was good, great even! Personally, I went down the GT525 route. I didn't want to loose any driveability but was after a little more poke. The problem is they're over a grand new and probably difficult to come by second hand. Its much easier to find T28's or equivelant and at a more reasonable price (for second hand ones). But, do you want to fit second hand turbos? As another option, for about 600 quid you could have your stock turbos upgraded to 360 degree thrust bearing type. Decisions, decisions eh?
