indian_zx Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 (edited) well shortly im putting up my Zed for sale. its sad but i really need to secure a future for myself and having a Zed is certainly not going to help me, im turning 27 and still havent bought a property yet and if i dont get saving now its going to be too late, of course something recently has happened that made me change my ways as when i bought it i was in a better position and splitting up with the mrs just doesnt help!! there are a few things that needs to get done and i had some major plans for this Z. the good thing is i had a compression test done by a Z specialist and it has come up well. pics are in my previous thread. http://300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=149617 im ideally looking for a swap for another vehicle that wont be as costly to run as the zed and still look good. I will put up the Z in the for sale section soon. :-( Edited May 26, 2011 by indian_zx Quote

leo-r32gts Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Sounds like you've got your sensible head on, so all credit for that. Its always a tough decision when you need to make a sacrifice, but from the sounds of it, this is one which will pay dividends in the future. Look at it positively, once you've got your 4 bedroomed house with triple garage, you'll be needing something to fill up that spare slot in the garage! Good luck with the sale mate, make sure you get that black paintwork nice and glossy! Quote
big_jim Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Wont be many of us left at this rate!! Do what your heads telling you mate. You can always buy another zed when yoy can. Quote
Guest HollowPoint Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I say completely different to these lot. lol I'm 28 turning 29 and the missus is 36 soon, we don't own a home, and have faced the simply reality that we are never going to most likely. We earn well, but we have outgoings and would rather live a comfortable life and pay someone rent, with the ability to just move out if things go wrong with the house, or our lives change, than own something we can't drive, costs WAY more to run than a car and is WAY more likely to go wrong, break, etc. My parents lost thousands in property because of the stupid market fluctuations, on the other hand, Roses parents made thousands. Now though, her mother is desperately chasing that home ownership thing again, even though it will empty the last of her savings and she has no reason to own one whatsoever. I just don't understand why someone would want to be tied to something so heavily, that costs them so much, that could end up bankrupting or ruining their lives. When houses were £16 - £50K yeah fine, but you couldn't even buy a potting shed for £50K now. If you choose to sell good luck with it, but I say keep the car, enjoy your life and forget about owning a home, it isn't worth it. Quote
Stephen Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 i dunno in reality, i dunno about where you are but here apart from the intial deposit paying a mortage makes finiacial sense. around half teh cost monthly. a simply 2 bed terrice house without any bills paid is around a grand a month here. in some the crap areas. 4 of my mates where living in a house with no off road parking no lounge and so out of date it was practically a mussem i would have a guess it was last decortated in 1970 something. their neighbours where awful and the area crap. that was costing them 1200 a month before any other outgoings. Guest HollowPoint Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 fair point for you then. I live in a 7 bedroom house that if I was buying it would cost me over £1K a month and because I rent it, costs me a lot less. That being said, it was the same deal where I lived before here, 3 bedroom semi, with driveway for ONE car, a mile from the town center, rough as **** and cost me £450 a month, to buy it would have cost me £600 a month or more. Stephen Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 funny isnt it how this things vary so much, me and my gf are moving into my parents house next summer, theyre moving to france for a year. obviously we will be renting it at less than market value, but after that year well were stuffed lol Quote
vodkashots Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I'm with a housing association with option of rent to buy, but in all honesty it's luck of the draw with location, it's a single bedroom flat, area looks like crap but the people are great, will eventually use it to house swap for a bigger place, then may take them up on the offer of rent to buy. But at the moment it's £66 a week and £15 council tax, so cheap as chips. A key point that makes me stay in housing association. Might be an idea for you Quote
cheshire300zx Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I don't no how people go on these days, I've bought a house, but oldest lad goes to uni next summer I've got to pay out 14-15k per year! 40-50k in all due to the course he's doing. It's crap I can't even buy him a car the insurance on a 1.1 corsa I got prices of 3-5k! One price was22k I got a text asking if I wanted to take it out! Quote
Stephen Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 try looking at less abused makes, my mrs has alittle kia picanto its great on feul and tax and cheaop to insure she is in her second year of driving at 21 and last year when she passed it was under 1k. the 106 she had for 6 months proir to taht was nearly double. Guest HollowPoint Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Good point, the less boy racery the car is, the more likely you are to get a decent price. Corsas are known to be chav-mobiles. Quote
