leo-r32gts Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 We all know the Zed is a potent beast - but how many have kept your foot in all the way until it runs out of puff in 5th? Please do not tell me where or when you tried this - I shall assume it was on a private road / airfield / race track - or in Germany. Irrespective of where or when - what's the fastest you have been in your Zed AND what's the fastest you've been in any car?? The fastest I've been in my Zed is 145 (ish). The fastest I've ever been was flat-out, at an indicated 165mph, in my mates R33 GTS. Quote
bantambunny Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 My old NA touched 140mph and the TT 145mph but still some revs left but ran out of room :) That NA was blisteringly quick past 100mph Quote
Yowser Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 170mph (gps verified) - 300zx TT Manual. 140'ish mph - 300zx NA Manual Neither speeds were flat out. Quote
LeoE Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 165mpg (GPS verified) - 300zx TT Manual Still had more to go, but I didn't have the room Quote
stuartclarke Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 155mph on the clocks - 300zx tt auto Need to find a longer road Quote
Coolq Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 mine tops out about 120.... TT manual stage 3 mods, no matter what i do, 120 is as far as the speedo goes... Quote
brightFAME Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 as above 380 horsies under the bonnet but the speedo stops at 180kmph i can only assume the car does the same... Quote

Providing your gearing is not hugely affected by larger wheels then a good rule of thumb is 25mph per 1000 rpm in fifth. Your rev gauge is another speedo in disguise! Quote

Hand on my heart (i know many of you think im going to be bullsh1ting!) ive had 169 in my current zed at 6500rpm via my TOM TOM satnav. its a standard ( i think) exept for exhaust. recently had a dyno test which came at 299hp and 301 tourque. Why would we think your bullshitting ? Perfectly reasonable top speed for a stock Z....should even be able to get a bit more out of it. Quote

Baz Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Looking forward to trying my TT Z when its all built. My old R32 GTR was doing 172mph as shown on the tomtom and still felt like it had loads more to give, but the airstrip run out. Hate it when that happens. :p Quote
daZvert Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 163mph in my TT and plenty more to go, but had to slow for a corner :/ Quote

I always make that mistake. First time I let my mate drive my car, I can remember thinking JESUS CHRIST that's quick. Plus my mate weighs about 18 stone, so he's a fair bit of ballast to lug around! So nobody hit the limiter in top then? Or does the engine run out of puff before it gets there? Quote
Yowser Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Jun did pretty well for 300zx top speed - 262 mph :) Quote
leo-r32gts Posted May 25, 2011 Author Posted May 25, 2011 only had about 130mph out of my z but im running in a new engine so i didnt want to go anymore just yet. fastest i have driven a car is 186 proven with tomtom in my friends sierra cossi:). it had more but he was sitting next to me and was shitting it. lmao Woot! Mikey is in the 300 club!! That must have been immense - and from a Cossie too, it must of been like sitting in the space shuttle on re-entry (i imagine).. :scared: Cannot comprehend how fast that must seem - 3 miles a minute - RESPECT Quote
mick1 Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I have had 165 showing on the Alpina Clock, and was still pulling Quote
jonpob Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 130mph in my na had to lift off back end hopping could see it doing 140-150 at push had plenty left, mates mates skyline 200mph had another gear !!!! 1000bhp at rear wheels frightening Quote
jonpob Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 il see if i can get some pics of the car he went to japan and bought it for seventy five grand or something like that Quote
EvoluZion3 Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I hit a mere 138 on the 2 mile straight at Bruntingthorpe proving grounds for the J-Tuner magazine shoot a few years ago. Still had plenty to go before I ran out of track but I don't think the map was very good for 5th gear, plus the fact my clutch was screwed and I had to keep lifting off in the first two gears just to get traction between the clutch and flywheel!! Quote
keymeister Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 On the track on a nice section which resembled an A road 140 . Backed off as my arsehole was twitching like a rabbits nose . Quote
