Later ptu fitting
That appears to be the Wiring harness than Nissan U.S.A manufactured to make it a direct fit into existing loom.

Zed design flaws
The being able to see into boot would be SWB only problem I presume you mean I'd say the Series1 Climate control is a bit of a design flaw. The automatic flow direction is a pita, as it does'nt always (in fact make that rarely) point the airflow where you want it. Series 2 onwards was a great improvement. oh..and tweed...thats a visual design flaw

even supra's are losing value
I agree, the mk3 is vile...but then so is the Z31. I drove a Mk3 last week...in fact thats not strictly true....I was steering a Mk3 that was being towed to the scrap yard...I did'nt like it LOL I dont dislike the Mk4, having working on and driven several variations. They are very comparable, each having its own advantages and disadvantages IMO.... I do prefer a decent zed though.

Gearbox Help
Replacing oil with Redline MT90 is a common tempoary "fix" for crunhing. It could get rid of the crunch for a couple of years, couple of months or not at all...but worth a try. A good 2nd hand box on its own usually £300-£500 Recon your existing box £1000-£1500 ( i think ?) Brand new 96+ box from the U.S £1200'ish There are no straight fit bolt on replacement boxes. The 350z 6speed has been fitted before, but its a lot of hassle for a box with gear ratio's that are not ideal and its weaker than the 300zx box. There are aftermarket options - your looking at £3000-£10000

Nissan clutch..
err..no, not 500 lol...... 370 would be pushing its limits, a new TT clutch may hold for a while but wont last long. More often than not the stock clutches start slipping once you increase boost to 1bar. You might find the lightweight flywheel is fu**ed as well though when you drop the box.

They are a very rare and desirable classic car. I looked into 240's a little while back, from what I could gather you can pick up non-runners as projects for a few grand, and usuable but rough ones for around £5k but you can expect to pay up to £10k restoring it properly. I believe they can be had for around £8/9k upwards for tidy examples ? The biggest issue with them is definatly rot. A lot of people seem to import the shells from california then restore them here and convert to RHD. Slick Pete is the man to speak to on here about them, and Zclub.net ofcourse.

intercoolers
Those intercoolers are barely any bigger than stock. THey do have ali end tanks though and better flow and lower pressure drop. But really if your looking to buy on a budget you want these ones, about same price but 2-3x larger : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-Truck-Parts-Accessories__GODSPEED-90-96-300ZX-Z32-12X7-5X3-5-S-MOUNT-INTERCOOLER_W0QQitemZ350074158804QQadnZCarQ20Q26Q20TruckQ20PartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQadiZ2865QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item350074158804 I cant comment on them as I've not seen any testing yet.

wheel looking in
Hit any kerbs recently ? You have excessive negative camber, and if its on just one side, then its likely that where the upper link arm bolts to the body has been bent from a knock.

Easiest & Quickest way to derestrict

Easiest & Quickest way to derestrict
The needle cuts out ? Do you mean the needle drops to zero, or do you mean at 95 thats when the speed limiter cuts in and engine cuts out momuntarily and wont go any faster ?

the dreaded blue smoke!!
Check for any smoke from the dipstick and oil cap with engine running. Did you do a wet test on the two 130 cylinders ? , just a few drops of oil to see if it rises.

workshop rents
around here a 1000 sq/ft unit would typically cost £400-£500 a month Just compare with local Commercial lettings, there will usually be several online websites covering your area
