  1. “Size and spacing of characters: special cases 14A.—(1) This regulation applies in relation to any vehicle imported into the United Kingdom which— (a)does not have European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval; and (b)is so constructed that the area available for the fixing of the registration plate precludes the display on the plate of a registration mark in conformity with the requirements of regulation 14. (2) In relation to a vehicle to which this regulation applies— (a)each character in the registration mark must be 64 millimetres high; (b)the width of each character of the mark, other than the letter “I” and the figure “1”, must be 44 millimetres; ©the width of every part of the stroke forming a character in a mark must be 10 millimetres; (d)the spacing between any two characters within a group must be 10 millimetres; (e)the vertical spacing between groups of characters must be 5 millimetres; (f)the width of a margin between the mark and the top and lateral sides of the registration plate must be not less than 5 millimetres; (g)the space between the bottom of the mark and the bottom of the registration plate must be not less than 13 millimetres; but, within that space, the space between the bottom of the mark and the top of the name and postcode of the person by whom the plate was supplied must be not less than 5 millimetres.”(1)
  2. That's not quite right, only if you are unable to fit a standard plate on the car - i.e. there is a recessed section for the plate, or similar. Legislation is here: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2002/2687/contents/made
  3. I've had this before, usually when searching three terms... in both Firefox and Safari (on Mac)... and yes, "car wash" gives a blank screen, but wash works fine too!
  4. It has been done, but the general concensus is it;s not worth it... http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=general&msg_id=1393957
  5. Does sound like turbo failure... not had it on the zed, but my old BM went - DO NOT DRIVE it until you know what's happened though; I got a cloud of smoke, which then settled, decided to drive it to garage and got 6 miles before it completely let go... and that was taking it easy!
  6. Unless something's changed very recently, you can't? Blue badges are only issued to disabled persons - e.g. my uncle is blind and has one, my aunty can't even though she's the only one who can drive. As for the original question, it should mean you're disabled... but could just as easily mean you're a sponger blagging DLA!
  7. Here you go: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CITROEN-3-BUTTON-NEW-LIGHT-SYMBOL-KEY-FOB-REMOTE-CASE-/390276508017?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5ade4ae971
  8. I fixed my girlfriend's C5 key by buying a new case on ebay and swapping the gubbins over... you can buy blades too if you need them; as long as your key still works the car, shouldn't be a problem. Rich
  9. Looking good... I'd take out the pictures with your address on though!! Rich
  10. It's only 15%... maybe slightly conservative!
  11. Admiral do multicar insurance, I'm sure plenty of others will - or may be worth trying a broker?
  12. damn, wrong link http://300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=133833&highlight=electric+power+steering
  13. Lahsx, who I think has disappeared off here now, used a Saxo one - never saw any details of whether it worked though! http://300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=127225&highlight=electric+power+steering+pump
  14. When I got mine (from DTA) he included a set of super white Led bulbs - should be able to get some on ebay, unless Dan still has some knocking about... Rich
  15. I have/ do occasionally still for work (consumer/ trade publishing and events) - still haven't got round to re-subscribing on here, but you can fire me and email richardmichaelstockton[at]gmail[dot]com if you like; it really would depend on volume and timescales though as I realistically would only be able to take on extra work in the evenings. Rich
  16. Unfortunately, there was no further info on how it had been done - I expect the the LCD ribbon had been extended and the circuit board buried under the lower dash panel; just the function buttons to re-locate then, I guess the port could be left on the board for the amount of time it takes to drop the panel. Has anyone actually used one over here?
  17. Looked at this a while back... and found this when trawling the internet - shouldn't be too hard if you;re good with a soldering iron??
  18. But what's the point? All you're doing is moving the position of the intercoolers and making the pipework more complicated? Without gaining extra core volume it seems pretty pointless, and will look like you've got a small & funny shaped FMIC...
  19. Can't see it myself - we're not talking about business travel, this is a regular journey due to not wishing to relocate... I'm certain this would be classed as commuting and therefore none of those would be allowable; subsistence is definitely only allowed if you are working at variable locations. and as for entertainment costs?! Having had an investigation at a previous company, I wouldn't even bother trying that one!
  20. I can't remember the calculations now, but the power requirement against max. speed is exponential due to the aerodynamics; I'd hazards a guess you;d need substantially more power!
  21. I had a similar problem after having a company car for a couple of years - try going back to your original insurer (or maybe through a broker?) they did reinstate mine in the end...
  22. But the only air entering is what is drawn in by the vacuum effect of the piston dropping, so any difference would surely be negligible? I'm not trying to be argumentative btw... just can;t get my head round the idea! Rich
  23. If the engine was running, yes - it's forced induction - but when not running you're simply measuring the peak pressure difference between atmospheric and TDC... unless I'm missing something?
