GIBSTER-TT Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Has anyone converted to a electric power steering pump on the Zed? Im in need of some ideas in what pump to use at the best size & price. I know the Saxo and many other Citroens, peogeots and Vauxhalls use them as well as the MR2 and BMW minis. I want to locate the pump where the battery normally sits. Does anybody have any ideas what pump would be best suited to fit in the location? As well as up to the job. I have deleted the hicas completly so im hoping any of the above will be powerful enough. Cheers Dan Quote
Rich666 Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Lahsx, who I think has disappeared off here now, used a Saxo one - never saw any details of whether it worked though! http://300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=127225&highlight=electric+power+steering+pump Quote

John Dixon Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 I used a Mk2 MR2 one, pretty big unit compared to some of the others but seems to work OK. Quote
GIBSTER-TT Posted May 22, 2011 Author Posted May 22, 2011 Great news does it or will it fit in the battery tray location? Thanks Dan Quote
John Dixon Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Great news does it or will it fit in the battery tray location? Thanks Dan Yeah, should do. I've got mine mounted on the outside of the RHS chassis rail behinde the front wing (close to where the intercooler used to be). Its about the same size as a starter motor with no solenoid on it. GIBSTER-TT Posted May 23, 2011 Author Posted May 23, 2011 Since fitting the motor has it made any difference in the steering compared to stock? I wondering if I can fit mine in the same location with a front mount. Thanks for your help Quote
