Hi Guys,

Any body out there help me with a point of law (maybe) i have a disabled parking permit (Blue Badge), Does that make me Disabled?

Interesting....

Rich

If it means you can park your car in front of a shop you really need to go to, when its pissing down with rain AND you have a blue badge, then yes - you are indeed, disabled.

If you are claiming incapacity benefit and playing football in the park with a can of Special Brew, then no - you are not disabled.

Hope that helps..

No you could be a carer.

Unless something's changed very recently, you can't? Blue badges are only issued to disabled persons - e.g. my uncle is blind and has one, my aunty can't even though she's the only one who can drive.

As for the original question, it should mean you're disabled... but could just as easily mean you're a sponger blagging DLA!

yes Richard your registered as disabled, and with your leg the way it is, you wouldn't be sponging if you decided to claim incapacity benefit. you also get the use of using it to park on double yellows as well (for up to 3 hours).

You also do not have to pay the London congestion charge, as long as you register 10 days before your planned trip to the capital, you also do not have to pay for certain toll roads, again you will have to apply (not sure who too mind you) in advance of your planned trip.

you could have a blue badge as a carer as long as the person your caring for is with you when using the badge, my dad has one for my gran

what medical condition did you put down on the form's to obtain the badge? That alone would establish if your disabled or not

but seriously are you the one pictured on the badge?

did you have to go through vast often very painful examinations?

are you in pain, mentally ill or is your mobility impaired enough to effect your life.

my mum is registered disabled and she is in a lot of pain every day, she has the blue badge and my father is her carer, he parks on the yellows when he has to pick her up from the heath centre chemist etc, but never uses it when he is on his own. he says he is perfectly heathy and dont want to take the spaces as a disabled person may want to use them and they know first hand what its like when some arsehole who isnt dispalying a blue badge parks in a space that they need!

Guys, You crack me up...

but seriously,.. I am the one with the Blue Badge, I Applied saying i have trouble walking, which i do , and told my Doc, whilst he was increasing my pain relief, that he may get a letter asking for his opinion whether i should get one. He said no problem..

The reason i asked is i wasn't sure whether having a badge IS an indication that the owner is a Disabled person. Looks like it is.

some people dont apply for a badge because they dont want to trouble the system, even tho the stupid arses need them

what fooking boils my piss is the ones that have screwed the system and there is sod all wrong with them... my mum had to fight for her badge even tho 5 independent specialists we're on her side 150%
