  1. It will be a manufacturer specific fault - I had to buy a Peake reader as a generic one wasn't getting any meaningful codes, as soon as I plugged it in I got a load of parameter faults for start up pressure etc; if you go on the Renault form, there'll prob be someone local who will plug it into the equivalent Renault code reader for you... According to here: http://www.renaultforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=14828 it's basically an engine management light: Failing finding someone on the forums, try a back street garage at lunchtime - they should be able to read the specific codes for beer money while the boss is grabbing lunch ;)
  2. Fingers crossed then... Other possibilities: AFM failing, EGR gunked up, Crankcase breather blocked, boost leak... If you can get it plugged in, especially with a specific reader, it should throw some fault codes to point you in the right direction - I know BMW has specific codes for the EGR valve operation (I do a lot of miles and it keeps coming back!), can't see other makes being different, just not necessarily part of OBDII.
  3. I'd suspect that you've got a leaking/ duff injector - had similar problems on my beemer... a Bosch diesel specialist could tell you pretty quickly if that is the problem, but not cheap to fix...
  4. You'll probably find there won't be much in it - insurance companies will hike the price because of the (perceived) higher costs in repairs... Wouldn't go shouting about it on the internet either!
  5. I had these kind of problems doing suspension on an Audi A2... you should be able to do it with a set of drop neck spanners (offset doesn't matter then as they'll still clear) - try motorfactors... I also cut the long side off an alan key and put it in a suitable socket so I could hold it whilst using the spanner - awkward to do if you;ve only got the short bit to hold on to! Once I'd finished one side, a neighbour kindly lent me an impact gun ;)
  6. I've got 12 domains with namesco on a multi-host package... their tech support is brilliant, there's been no down time for the sites and just a couple of blips with email in about 5 years... I've also got a personal site on Freeola - never needed support, but they're not that cheap by the time you've added on extras.
  7. Want a proxy... I'll do it for 30% ;)
  8. It can be yes, I've done it... bit of a ballache, and it's difficult to get into some of the corners!! I used a wire coathanger so I could bend it into the suitable shape to reach into corners.
  9. Windows runs natively on new (intel) Macs so software shouldn't be an issue, although specific drivers may be... I've seen people getting it to run on other forums (was looking into it for an old macbook I had), but it is a fair bit of pissing around... much easier to get an old beat up pc laptop imho!
  10. Haha, God I'm dumb sometimes.. could a mod remove it please?
  11. Agreed! I wouldn't bother with a diesel at all for a cheap car - I'm even considering going back to petrol myself (now got 160k on a 320d, do 25-30k/ year) after 2 failed injectors and an impending turbo replacement... That said, my missus has a Citroen Picasso which gets abused constantly (little servicing) and has been problem free for about 6 years now, with the exception of a failed p/s pump (I replaced for about £50 - pattern part)... the HDi engine is pretty bulletproof (except cam belts).
  12. Zip file on its way if you want to remove your email... Rich
  13. I've got some jap ones... if you post up your email I can forward them and the font (as per your other thread)... Rich
  14. The Z logo should be glyph; I can email you the font if you need it... NISSAN - TrueType font v1.2 =========================== This is a re-production of Nissan's font (the car company :) This is not the version found at MyFonts.com. This font also contains the Z-car logo (1990-1996 version). To display it, hold down the ALT key and type 0167 on the keypad, the logo should appear when the ALT key is released. Make sure Num Lock is on. About Nissan-Decal.ttf: This version is similar to the font used on the back of 1990+ Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo's. More specifically, the "Twin Turbo" decal.
  15. We bought some of these: http://www.dfs.co.uk/sofas/corner-sofas/kool/5-piece-corner-sofa-as-pictured-/ about 4 years ago and I can honestly say it's been great - being modular, we rotate the chairs around to even out the wear, but it's survived parties, 2 kids jumping all over it daily, numerous wine spills etc etc and when cleaned looks as good as new...
  16. Apparently there's a pin out inside if you open it up... http://www.caraudio.com/forums/head-units/260871-alpine-tda-5635-pinouts-wiring-harness.html
  17. I'd do it with a crappy bathroom steamer like you can buy in Lakeland - I've used one to clean the bay with the engine out & I'd say the jet is weak enough not to be forced into connections... No way with a 'proper' steam cleaner though - they have quite a pressure in them.
  18. More info here: http://www.hoax-slayer.com/motoycle-inside-vw-accident.shtml Whilst it's true it's dangerous to use a phone whilst driving, I think anybody looking at the pictures would agree that 85mph is a massive under-statement of speed!
  19. Tell him he should do a refresher course ;)
  20. Didn't think that child benefit changes were implemented until next year? And even so, if the increase in nett pay between 43 and 52k is well over 4k/ year after PAYE and NI... surely you'd you'd have to have a lot of children if you would lose the same amount? Or am I missing something?
  21. They're potentially on VERY dicey ground - how long has she worked there? I was involved in some big staff lay-offs a few years back, and the amount of hurdles that had to be jumped was immense, and that was without any one having notified us they were pregnant! What do you mean 'paid off'? From what you've said, they're possibly attempting to avoid redundancy payouts... have a look on ACAS if she's been there more than 2 years! Rich
  22. I'll let you off then... I do a pretty hefty amount of motorway miles, and have seen loads of the stupid games... only lost it once though: I was coming up the M1, 2 lanes of lorries and a queue of cars passing them in front... a guy in an RS4 is on my arse like Graham Norton, despite the fact I can't move in anywhere... This went on for ages, eventually the lorries cleared, cars started to move over so I accelerated to pass them, pull in and he pulls in behind me. It carried on for about 5 mins - every time I pulled out he would fly up behind me, so I saw red - next clear stretch of motorway, I pulled out and floored it, he did his usual trick, but failed to notice that I had stood on the brakes! He lost control for a second, narrowly missed the central reservation, dropped back about 200 yds and I last saw him pull into the services... to bin his underwear no doubt! It was a while ago, and I'd like to say I felt guilty... but I didn't really!
  23. Which begs the question "if there was room to undertake, how come you hadn't moved over"?
  24. My Dad's car will only lock on the drive if you reverse it up - very weird interference, never got to the bottom of it! Someone, on here I think, mentioned putting the fob to your chin to boost the signal... sounds like a joke, but I now do it instinctively when I come out of the supermarket - I have a tendency to forget where I parked, it boosts the signal and I look for the lights flashing!! Worth a go!
  25. Check your brake fluid - if it's low, your pads may be extremely worn or you've lost some fluid... the going on/ coming off can happen when the fluid is *just* low enough to trigger the light, but then expands slightly when warm, so I'd say worn pads are the most likely culprit. If that's fine, the switch may be faulty.
