Timing belt charges
I did mine myself without much hassle... as long as you're very methodical, and understand all the steps before you start it isn't really that difficult a job, just a really annoying one because of the amount of stuff you remove (and the number of times you have to check and re-check the belt before you're happy it's on right!!) any ideas on how to do this
As said above really, if it does come out when you're 'not there' you could bodge together a restraint pole... a loose noose which you can tighten by pushing the knot with a pole. Cruel to be kind, but once you've got it on a rope you could pull it out if it goes into the pipe again.

Traffic Lights and the Law
I would say there's no chance you'll get done - and it's unlikely it'll get to court... especially as you have a witness, although they would probably just drop it on the day! Technically, there is no allowance for you to go through a red light - but it has always been 'assumed' that, provided it is safe to do so, you can go over the line... the 'if safe to do so' referred to above is for amber lights only. AFAIK there has never been a test case, and all of the reports I've read have been in connection with Traffic Light Cameras rather than in person penalty notices! Was it fire or Ambulance going through - don't suppose you got the reg? I'd write to the Chief Constable explaining what has happened, asking how it is in the public interest to prosecute you when you were potentially saving someone's life, the fact that you've got a witness to corroborate and request an explanation as to why, in the current climate, the force's officers are wasting public money on pointless prosecutions like this. No harm in sending a copy to local rag too - and there's a good chance a tabloid may pick it up too... good bit of anti-police reporting! The ultimate decision lies with the CPS, although the Chief Constable could obviously add his weight to the decision... given the negative impact a failed prosecution would cause!

Reverse sump?
Look interesting... no experience of it, but can't see it being an issue provided it's properly baffled/ gated and the pickup located properly... for belt and braces, you could use an accumulator as well?

calling all it cleaver clogs
Depending on usage, it may be a bit excessive to manage access to the degree you are talking about - if you set it to set access times (business hours), set up the router really strictly and have a landing page set up, where they have to accept your terms wouldn't that suffice? I've used open DNS in the past... you can also ban certain keywords (can be annoying though!). If you google 'captive portal' you could set up an access/ login page - but this could just be to enter the code you give them, much like smaller hotels that offer free wi-fi do?

Auto vs Manual balance bars
I believe some people don't bother with the clutch booster - in which case you wouldn't need to...

Auto vs Manual balance bars
Manual needs an extra take off for the clutch...

Speedo repair
It's ages since I messed with mine, but I think I removed the stopper and wound it off... If you can get some small pliers on the spine to absorb the shocks, try tapping it on a bit harder.... nothing much to loose now I suppose!

Speedo repair
You've pulled the needle and shaft out together (as above) then? If so, you'll prob have to get a replacement... You can pull the needle of without removing the shaft, just a bit fiddly.

You can pick up the equipment fairly cheap from Frost... time consuming yes, but not really expensive. I've seen the results on an old Mini shell - looks like new! Rich

Buying a car - advice needed please...
Meant to say - this is after you've checked & driven it, are keen & they're waiting to get their hands on your cash! Shouldn't be a problem if they're honest - tell them you;ve been stung before, and if they're reluctant walk away!

Buying a car - advice needed please...
I'd just ask the seller if it's got any finance on - when they say no, ask them to HPI it (£20.50) and add it to the sale price if there's no problem... not worth paying for a mickey mouse check if you're worried - they'll wriggle out of paying out in the event they get it wrong (which they can/ have done...) at least HPI's got its reputation to think of! new windscreen cost
I remember getting quotes for my old beemer (crazily wasn't covered after getting fully comp business insurance through a crap company online!) Quote went down from £1200-odd to £340 once I explained that my insurance wouldn't cover it... just shows how much they take the piss!!

Is it only 2nd hand now
You'd be lucky to find a RHD one, but LHD will fit - you just need to tuck away the extra length of loom it comes with... You'd be surprised how many new parts are still available! Rich

You need a wideband sensor and gauge for it to be of any real use.

Larger turbos and injector issue Help please...
Upgraded turbos will flow more air, so you would have to reduce the pressure to correct the afr... not really much point in doing it??
