  1. God knows - there was some stories in the local papers about born and bred cornish(ers?!) cornish people gettin pissy about the english moving there etc, apparently there were threats to torch Jamie Oliver's restaurant and similar - they'd been practicing in an abandoned warehouse!!  here's part of it: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/crime/article2010217.ece
  2. I was down in Cornwall the other week... everyone waved or mouthed thanks when I let them out (and you can imagine how busy the roads were)... one old girl even beeped so that I looked at her then waved a thankyou!
  3. and get it in writing that you have informed them - when I told them, they said they would put a note on my file, but it wouldn't increase my premium until renewal... then when I had a claim, they said I hadn't informed them... tossers!
  4. I'm confused! If you meant the ones I posted, they're stepmaster - I googled round and found some pretty good reviews... think gaugeplace stock them too. They're not Defi though - although defi do produce a gauge called stepmaster! I'm probably going to fit these now as they match the stock dash so well & have blue warning light...
  5. would guess it's these... gauges
  6. no problem - the engine's sitting on my bench, so I didn't have to get wet :D
  7. just been and measured for ya: 5mm socket head, 1mm thread. Overall length 19.5mm. hth Rich
  8. will cost a fortune to have it done professionally! why don't you block the stack, and leave it a week - the bees in there'll be dead, and the ones which were 'out' will have given up trying to get in...
  9. Would you consider selling the turbo kit...? then you could put the money towards some other stuff... you see, I;ve got the opposite problem to you - a forged engine sat in my garage with no tubs!!

not true! For 0845 there will be an agreed call volume before cash back (as the caller is only billed at local rate), but 0870 will give you at least 1.5 p/min - more if you get a good deal... I know from having set them up - I will go to hell!
  11.  now i'm really confused - how do you figure that?
  12. e28's were - later ones weren't.
  13. sorry for the confusion - i was only talking about puttin the gasket in... even i'm not brave/ stupid enough to seperate the shocks without a compressor!
  14. spring compressors?? no need to compress the springs - just get someone to pull the hub down to give you clearance.
  15. most probably!! they're a standard nissan gasket, so should be available from stock at main stealer - part numbers: Front - 54329-33P00 Rear - 55338-35F00 Rich
  16. Wouldn't trust it at all mate - they're only rated for low speeds anyway (can't remember exactly what speed) but you shouldn't risk driving long-term imho. Sure someone local will lend you a spare... I would but you're a bit far away... think I've got about 4 sets knocking around too!!
  17. should have been replaced if they did a full 60k...
  18. no problem - I'm hoping it is something easy... really don't want to run the risk of fookin it up completely, as it's sod's law it'll be the type with security screws!!
  19. it's just a standard fit vauxhall, will have a look at the bonnet switch too as I saw that mentioned. Why do you say it's def not the battery? Saw that explanation on several vx sites...
  20. I know it's not strictly in the right section, but it's a technical question rather than general chat!! Basically, my brother in laws parents have an S Reg Corsa and the alarm's playing up - going off randomly. They're in their 80's and the garage are trying to charge them £400 to replace the unit. I've had a scout around the internet and it seems that the 'powersounder' in the n/s wheelarch has an internal battery which, when it fails, causes the alarm to trigger. There's supposed to be a way of replacing the battery itself, but if you damage the unit the car will auto-immobilse and need to be reset with the vauxhall diagnostic tool. So... does anyone know how to disable/ bypass the alarm, or any other advice? Please PM me rather than post... and believe me, I'm not a TWOC'er trying to steal a Corsa!! Thanks in advance! Rich
  21. cat overheat - usually unburnt fuel getting to exhaust. Check you're getting a spark on all 6...
  22. Why am I working on my birthday?!?! :headvswal :headvswal Cheers guys! :duffer: :duffer: And happy birthday Gio - what a fantastic day you were born on!
  23. smart polo shirt - no mad graphics, just a decent logo which you wouldn't mind walking around in every day!
  24. Sorry, but you are complettely wrong! C = cold... i,e, cold fluid, minimum expansion. H = hot, hot fluid maximum expansion. Expansion can't take place in the radiator as it's a finite size. You're kind of right about the radiator drawing water from the reservoir, but this happens only when the temperature drops. There is absolutely no reason for there to ever be too much water in the coolant system. If your theory were correct, do you think that you can remove the 'reserve tank' completely provided you put the right amount of water in? Cos my bet is that as soon as the water got hot and expanded, you'd have either a burst hose or water pissin through the rad cap as it's exceeded its pressure rating...
  25. Oh right, does the water/ coolant in a zx not expand then? Guess Mr Nissan just put the marks on it for laughs then :headvswal :headvswal
