  1. Air flow meter - it's in limp home mode! Unplug the AFM, clean up, plug in... away you go!! hth Rich
  2. She couldn't find the release lever for it! I borrowed my ex's audi a2 once and needed fuel... couldn't figure it out for ages - ridiculously it was really low down on the inside of the b-pillar!!! Never even thought to look there!
  3. A whois of his website gives the following address: [whois.tucows.com] Registrant: MDKL 52 Robin Hood GDNS, Woolmore St London, E140HN GB Domain name: MDKLMOTORS.COM Administrative Contact: Elgohary, Khaled kal_elgee@hotmail.com 52 Robin Hood GDNS, Woolmore St London, E140HN GB +1.07866262545 Technical Contact: Elgohary, Khaled kal_elgee@hotmail.com 52 Robin Hood GDNS, Woolmore St London, E140HN GB +1.07866262545 And the electoral roll lists the same address, so it is genuine! woo-hoo 1000 posts... and i didn't have to resort to post whoring!! Good luck Rich
  4. I'm loving that - looks like it could be stock, which I like... ideas, ideas... well, nicking ideas, nicking ideas...!
  5. If you phone the issuing office & explain that you are claiming a third party was driving, but they are denying the offence & that you want a copy of the image to verify - and that you are trying to obtain proof of your whereabout at the time of the offence etc in case it comes back on to you they will probably supply a copy... if you mention that you've sought the advice of a solicitor too & they've suggested the above as the guy's denying knowledge, it might add a bit more pressure!!
  6. I use the 200gb version of this... and it's been absolutely fine - good transfer rates with firewire. http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/products/external/pushbutton_backup/
  7. Well, there's a fair chance that it's been re-used several times, and hot oil will run through the tiniest of gaps... easiest to start with the easy things! After that, you're down to good old fashioned crawling around underneath i'm afraid - leaking oil will travel quite a way, so don't necessarily focus your atention on the sump! My crank seal was leaking & the oil found its way everywhere...
  8. Sump plug washer not been replaced on last oil change?
  9. a debt collector can't collect a debt wothout a court order, so it;s fair to say that ebay just pass on their debt to collection agencies who will attempt to collect them without any attendence (i.e. by letters only). They are legally entitled to send collection officers, but very rarely do as it costs money and they have no legal rights - so you tell them to **** off and they have to! Stick to your guns - tell the collection agency that you dispute the debt as ebay breached their contract and go to court... there's no way they will take it further for £50... you'l just get your ebay account suspended. Ebay will no way risk a precedent on these kind of unpaid monies - they are clearly obliged to settle them through their associated company - paypal. Really is nothing to worry about unless they take it to county court!
  10. no point really - a google search brings up loads of info... including adverts from Halfords for a locking wheel nut remover!!!
  11. machine mart, or possibly screw-fix sell a locking wheel nut removal tool... or if you send a picture to the manufacturer, they'll possibly sell you a new key - i know McGuard will anyway...
  12. Anybody know a good match for SFS (or Samco - they're fairly similar) blue silicone?? Had a quick look in Halfords today, but they were shutting & didn't have time to go through the books... all the off-the-shelf ones i've thought were close aren't 'purple' enough! No look here, I'll have to try and get one made up i guess... Cheers Rich
  13. I've got exploded diagrams at home - but am currently away... anyone know what the distance between the caliper mounts are on the fronts?? I'm thinking 100mm... Cheers Rich
  14. Think Danny - DTA above - can sort you out with some new bulbs which will closer resemble the colour of your headlights... Don't worry about your age - I was 21 when i got mine!! You'll only get shit if you mod it up, don't service it then sell it as a wreck in 6 months!! Good luck with the car - sounds like you've fund a good'un! Subs is £20/ year - £15 renewal thereafter... well worth it, if only for the amount of tech advice & information it opens up. ATB Rich
  15. 'Motorists are strongly advised not to seek to evade detection by unnecessarily changing lanes as this would generate a greater risk of collision and may lead to other offences being committed which the police may prosecute. So, reading between the lines, what he's saying is "my police force would be much happier if you dis-regarded the highway code and stayed in one lane, regardless of when traffic allowed you to move left... and please don't anticipate people joining the carriageway and move right to allow them to do so safely - since both of these practices severely impact on this revenue stream..." TO55ER!
  16. why's your son have to go in the back... if it's because of the seatbelts, why not convert to late/ uk spec?
  17. Oh, and name and shame section may as well be called "instant libel section'! Nice idea, but not very realistic. I do think seller rating would be good - it provides some feedback without costing money and time.
  18. Well I suggest you re-read my post again! The for sale section is basically a (free) advertising section which the club is the publisher of, and no publisher can be held responsible for adverts placed by third parties. I don't know the details of the fraud you've been the victim of, but if it was a member on here, the police are one simple phone call away - fraud is a crime, and it's the polices responsibility to investigate, not an internet car forum's! If you don't like the fact, then don't buy from the forum - it really is as simple as that. Obviously, once the police have investigated, you can pass the outcome to the committee and they can then ban the user if they see fit. The people who donate their time to the club can't be judge and executioner, basing their decisions on one random person on the internet saying they have been ripped off by/ mis-sold good by/ not happy with quality etc etc from another random person on the internet!
  19. I've bought a fair bit of stuff and never had any problems tbh - tend to avoid buying from new members, or drive to meet them if necessary. Feedback sounds like a good idea - although I can't really see that 'the club' can get overly involved in these private transactions... if you got ripped off by someone advertising in the autotrader, the publisher's not going to help you! Caveat emptor imho - you can search for posts by a user to see what they're like & and if it's too cheap, it's probably for a reason! Rich
  20. it needs to match the gauge - should really have come with it! What make's the gauge? Should be able to order a replacement from a stockist...
  21. Your mate's wrong! The range of the oem oil pressure sender is unlikely to match your aftermarket one, so you need to put the aftermarket sender into the sandwich plate. If the threads don't match you may struggle, but you can get adapters... Rich
  22. I ran a stripped out car on the track, and tbh it wasn't a major problem, although the back was a little looser. A roll cage will stiffen things up slightly, but it's really a safety thing - I spun off a pretty fast (90odd) bend, through the gravel and into a wall - all felt fine until my mate told me how close I was to flipping it... rollcage is definitley being fitted before I go on another trackday. It's even more important with bucket seats and a harness as they prevent your head from tilting down from the roof if you roll, so your neck will take a full impact if you land on the roof. I know it sounds far-fetched, but it's much easier to roll a car than you (or at least I) thought. Rich
  23. the guy on the bike definitley ****ed up his start! Should have got away at first, then been overtaken...
  24. Is Jimmer on here?? That sounds like exactly what I want to happen after I've put my engine back in...!
