  1. Fill and bleed your radiator, then make sure that the expansion level's on minimum when cold... if your expansion tank's "almost full" there's no room to allow for expansion!! And if you've never touched your coolantt, I'd drain it and flush - you'll be amazed at the crap that comes out!! Rich
  2. won't actually weld, but can be almost as tough to remove...! May be as well to drive to an exhaust place and ask them to remove them - difficult to get any heat or leverage on them without a lift...
  3. how could the ecu sense det? As said, knock sensor is ignored by ecu over 3k as the engine's too noisy...
  4. remember aspect ratio is % of width... having 40s on the front won't make them match the rears in any way... unless they were the same width!
  5. Just need to fit new forged engine, re-fit interior, find and fit half cage & harnesses... then drive like a granny while i run it in doesn't sound like much when I say it like that!!!
  6. That's not a fail!! If it's blowing, fix it with some exhaust paste for the mot and carry on saving for the blueflame...
  7. but filler will sink with time - seen several where you can see it in the paint. Won't help opening and closing the boot either!
  8. been toying with the idea of welding mine up... but thought i might disort the boot!! To be fair, I'm not the best of welders though - so any tips I can pass on to a friend of mine I might convinve to have a crack for me?!
  9. "5 people complained" - meaning the complaints account for a fraction of a % of viewers! IMHO, ofcom are a bunch of ginger beers!!
  10. why not? nothing wrong with it unless/ until it dets...
  11. just tyre scrub - worse on wide rear tyres... if you imagine as the tyre's going round a corner it has to 'rotate' slightly to make the turn as the outside and inside edges have to rotate at the same speed. Vary's between tyre brands - just gone to goodyear's from bridgestones on my company car and it squeals like a pig now! The recent hot weather doesn;t help either! Rich
  12. My dad just got one - can't remember spec/ make etc, BUT I do know that he daved over £100 by finding it cheap on the internet and getting Jessops to price match it plus 10% or whatever their deal is! Worth a go, as you get internet prices with a guarantee from Jessops! Rich
  13. some autos need foot on brake too - but (unless alfa are ripping the piss & laughin at him behind his back) I'd leave well alone... alfa electronics aren't exactly easy/ cheap to fix!!
  14. Is it a reflective silver sticker? with a mileage and some numbers on it? Sounds like it could be the service sticker - the 3 numbers beng the age in yers and months that the service was completed (apparently!) Rich
  15. not london area, but came accorss these guys when I was doing some research a while back... http://www.fibre-lyte.co.uk
  16. Sticky lifter(s) - do a search for ticking and you'll see some info about possibly curing it with an oil change... also worth trying a capful of ATF fluid for a short while before you do the first change - worked on mine! Oil gauge/ sender is almost certainly the problem - I was amazed at the discrepency when I fitted aftermarket! Wouldn't really worry about it too much (as lets face it if you've really been thrashing about with no oil pressur it'll be fubar anyway!!) get an aftermarket gauge to set your mind at rest though! Rich
  17. Anyone remember it?? I fancy watching it again.. anybody got any copies?!?! :) Rich
  18. so are they gonna do another series or a spin off?!?!?! it's all just rumour... hope they do one of them though - Gene's hilarious!!
  19. Keith5700 says they do a sensor for the prop here so I'd say the bottom one was right!! Rich
  20. Short out the plug on the hicas reservoir to stop hicas operating then see if it's the same... almost certainly worn hicas, rather than the steering sensor though!
  21. Well, replacing dampers from a donor car's not ideal given the cost of new ones, but sounds like you have alignment issues... get it up in the air and check for play in the wheels and suspension - assuming you've got original bushes stil on the car, they're gonna be totally shot. The strange drifting on corners sounds like your hicas has play in it - so you'll be needing new arms and it set up properly (or bin it)... Rich
  22. A friend of mine's got a contract as a familliarisation instructor for Bentley - gets to arse about in them quite a lot... lucky bar-steward!
  23. Wasn't Mac1 having one fabricated a while back?
  24. I don't know to be honest - may be worth PM'ing FunkySi... he did some groundwork with a main dealer about part numbers. AFAIK, they should be on all late model SE's, but not sure what year the revision was...
