Smithy
Anyone with experience of Coilovers, would you know from the list below which coilovers ( with adjustment if need be) will give as near "stock" feel to the ride, IE: not a harsh ride. Top Secret, Aragosta, HKS, Cusco, Tanabe, Bilstein, Ohlins, Tein Please let me know what you have and the type of harshness if any compared to stock. cheers smithy
kirbz
i think most will have alot harder ride over stock, even on the softest settings, ive been in a car with hks which wasnt too bad, ohlins were pretty harsh and the tein flex was pretty harsh as well, if i was doing it again i would buy the tein street coilovers, ive been in a skyline with them and they were superb, on soft it was near stock feel and was pretty harsh on hard with i think 16 settings so a "good all rounder" and i think you can get them from the USA for about £4-500 squids :) Mike
jaffa
all depends on the spring rate, if you spec lower weight springs with the dampers revalved to suit the ride will be smoother. Most coilovers have much harder springs, though I'm very impressed with my Nitron setup (better then than kyb combo) in terms of harshness and body control. To keep things smooth you'll also want to keep as many OEM rubber bushes as possible
JJP
Not Ohlins as I've got them and can safely say although the car handles really well and sticks like shit to the corners  it is a very hard ride and i am now considering a change to something a bit more comfortable :x: so would also be very interested in other peoples views.... GIBSTER-TT
my adjustable teins are alot harder than standered even when set to the softest they can be! but would never change them they have made alot of difference in handling

Guest Coopers-SWB
I have fitted the tein street coilovers. They are a lot harsher than the stock. Theyare however set in the middle of the damping and my old suspension was soft as so it is difficult to compare. I got the teins from america. Cost around £600 after tax etc. A very good upgrade in my opinion however. Darrell

What I mean is when you adjust the hieght you also adjust the spring preload and therefor make it harder, with the flex you can adjust the hieght seperatly to the preload so if you could get a softer sring rate with the adjusterbility of the flex your quids in. Guest andyduff
Adjustable height has nothing to do with pre-load unless the car is jacked up against the shock absorber end stops ;)

Guest andyduff
Try it, measure the length of the spring with the car set at different heights....
