Standard Radio/CD install
Yes just got the mail, read you post and replied before seeing that (lol) Ok as we do not have the car to go with that cd/radio combination we have no reference, however as I said not all lost a patch lead can be made up to power the cd, looking at the two pics you have they look quite different, the one you have looks to only need power etc as the audio and switch control is via the white din lead which plugs into the radio, will have a look see if I can get you the information you need. Hi Sudesh, Not sure on the lead question as it was removed from a breaker some time ago, however when I tested it before sending out I made a lead up and used small ( speaker type) crimps to connect it, if you take a look on the top of the cd there is a wiring diagram that gives you the pin outs. 300zx tt restoration project..
As Kim said, the you have access to traders here who can help with new parts, tuning parts and used parts ( ourselves ) who along with DTA are both Midlands based, if your planning a detailed long term restoration you will not find a better place for help than here. I would strongly recommend you becoming a subscribed member which will not only open up more of the forum for you but will be the best £20 you can spend on your zed, as far as a manual Nissan did produce one that is in the main for mechanical repairs and although hard to get hold of do turn up on ebay from time to time mostly in cd form but the book is preferable. Aircon pipe
The shielding is to protect the pipe from the heat of the manifold/ turbo and is definately required. Jeff TT

indicator relay
There are two locations used dependant upon if your zed is manual or auto, either way the flasher is fixed to either the accelerator pedal box or the brake pedal box, easiest way to identify it is with the ignition on and the indicator on ( flashing) you can follow the noise with a torch. Jeff TT

There is more than one possible cause for this, however given what you have been doing to the engine its a fair bet an air leak been drawn in upsetting the mixture just as you come off the throttle, running rich when off the loud pedal completely like say down hill is not possible as the injectors switch off in this mode, like most fuel injection systems as the ecu see`s a closed throttle switch and high revs at the same time. An air leak in the exhaust can also cause this but to a lesser degree, there is always a small amount of fuel in the exhaust as no engine can burn 100% of the fuel any air introduced to the exhaust will then add to the unburnt fuel and the hot exhaust so hence popping. You need to go back to basics, start from the air flow meter and work through all visable jubille clips etc, that are holding air and turbo pipes in place. You will as some time require a boost leak test as mentioned by others, a simple way of slightly pressurising the intake and turbo ducts to show up any leaks, these leaks draw air in on overrun and loose boost when you put your foot down, seems the most likely answer to the problem. Two recon boxes burnt out in a few weeks
Yes they can be but it really is a specialist job, the two halfs are seam welded, you have to use a grinder to split them along the weld, once apart they can be rebuilt and then rewelded together. Of course they need balancing then on a suitable machine, any mistakes here will cause massive vibration so as I said its a specialist job really. Jeff TT

Auto Box Shifter - Cable linkage or direct to gearbox???
Do you mean how the selector is connected to the gearbox? if so it is a mechanical lever linkage that connects the selector to the gearbox. Jeff

Two recon boxes burnt out in a few weeks
Main cause of multi failure is contamination, when an uto box lets go it fills the torque convertor, the fluid cooler and cooerl pipelines with alloy / steel particles. The torque convertor should never be reused for this reason and cooler lines need fully cleaning out, the original cooler that is fitted into the radiatoris rubbish and should never be reused an aftermarket cooler should be used. Loud nosies, banging etc. from an autobox means that shaft bearings are seizing and the shaft is turning in the housings a common cause of this is overheated fluid or the aformentioned contamination. hicas/antilock lights illuminated
Alternator not charging, you where running on battery only, well until the charge ran too low. Charge your battery and then you can start the car and do some tests, you need to check what the voltage is at the battery with the engine running at idle without any load and then with load on ( lights and blower fan) Voltage should be between 13.1 and 14.1 less than 13 is bad, a loose belt would squeel, check the "engine cont" fuse in the black relay/fuse box on the passenger side inner wing under the bonnet, and check for loose battery conections If the output is low or non then it could be a replacement alternator time.:mad: Jeff TT

Whilst doing some unrelated checks I noticed the exhaust was touching the petrol tank on the zed pictured below, now it did not look too bad at first but even so a bit of hanger adjusting and there was a nice safe gap, however as you can see on the closer shot the tank where the exhaust box was rubbing was quite concerning and certainly would of been if left for much longer. Worth checking out any odd knocking sounds under the car sooner rather than later. Jeff TT
