  1. 1st one has nasty Mot history, been chasing rust and corrosion since 2007, and year on year ignored advisories shows a lack of love, a shiny paint job is not always what it seems sadly. Jeff
  2. Most times the switches are the issue.
  3. Sounds like you should concider fitting lowered springs, progressive one`s give reasonable ride comfort when cruising along whilst been able to firm up in the twisty bits. Chassis Dynamics 50 mm drop, tricky to get hold of these days though, pics below with 18" wheels https://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/category_results.mhtml?category=hrsprings&car=nissan300zx&manufacturer=hr&sub_category=1&category_sub=loweringsprings Jeff
  4. One thing about road use cars, changing old, worn units for new of any make will have positive effect and can cloud whether the improvement is due to the quality of the new suspension be after market / custom or really because it is just new kit. Taking Gaz point about new standard units, I did the same but fitted progressive lowered springs and found the set up very effective for road use, I fitted scores of standard shocks and springs over the years to customers zeds who were always amazed and pleased with the results, would not take much to get the same answer when fitting after market parts, do not be quick to dismiss the standard set up when new. Jeff
  5. I am minded to agree Joely, the low numbers, meet apathy, just living and making a living in 2018 does leave less time for the owners left, I guess though unless changes are tried the outcome is unknown. Jeff
  6. Ok way back in 2007, but what a day, the parade around Silverstone was epic to see all those zeds together !! sign up for the 2019 one asap !! Jeff
  7. Possibly incompatible protocol?
  8. Oh dear sad news indeed. Jeff
  9. Interesting z on ebay >> https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-300-3-0-ZX-Targa-3dr-UK-TWIN-TURBO/372479490668?hash=item56b981fa6c:g:fwEAAOSwQwRbz8AG £3,499 for a 1994 L.reg Uk car, in red with leather etc., ok, mileage is high 160k but it is a 24 year old car so actually under the 10k per year thing. 10. Have you considered that the engine is still unproven? with all of the issues and problems you have come across with this engine not been correct it really would be worth thinking about stopping and get another correct engine, you have lost so much time messing with the issues, the seller and the garage are all making it worse for you. Call it a day on this engine and get another one that will drop straight in is my advise. Jeff
  11. Crumbs, if that does not potential buyers off I don`t know what would, purchase cost $3,100 "for a 300zx in a marginally good working condition" (no boost ) To get it back working fully $11,300 in parts, + 450 labour hours on the car (which might actually double the price of the car, depending on where you go). Now does that sound like an investment ? HELL NO !! Jeff
  12. https://www.driveawaycarsltd.co.uk/ Ltd company, checkout their balance sheet, something odd, looks like a shell company to me... Jeff
  13. The steering wheel does not look that from a car with just 28k miles on it ??

  15. Hi Jamie and welcome, so, I see your zed has mot and is usable, my advise, do not put it away till next year, use it, get use of it and get used to it. I see the words, "my first zed and Project" and my thoughts are immediately NOOOOO !! way too many of these cars that become projects NEVER get finished, and after much money and time the sale add will read " unfinished project, thousands spent " So my advise would be to use the car now and shake down any issues before getting into that project mentality and just enjoy the ride !! Jeff
  16. Ok that video is not convincing me at all, usually over pressure will shoot the water out like a geezer !! not saying your wrong and it maybe just a small issue that you have caught early. I assume your loosing water out of the expansion vessel ? that could be a bad radiator cap, I would be looking at a few more tests yet to be honest. Jeff
  17. Well the block test method is the least accurate method, and some doggy parts of the motor trade its well know as a money maker as it is can be so convincing to see it change colour, doggy mechanics just breathe into it when the customer is not looking, and they are very sensitive. But if your getting over pressure etc. then it likely you will need the heads crack tested and skimmed to get the best results. Jeff
  18. All finished and topping up >>>
  19. Here is a non turbo I did around four years ago, in this instance the cam had seized ripping the belt teeth off and crashing the valves and pistons. I did have a couple of heads ready to fit so not too bad, a good days work for sure. Jeff - - - Updated - - -
  20. How have you determined the problem, what method? Can be done in the car, not too bad on a non turbo Mmm, tried this stuff twice and did not work either time.
  21. It is a straight forward job, have done it myself but given the amount of parts needed it is way easier if you can buy a whole donor car, maybe an mot failure that said, the cost effectiveness would be based on the condition of your na car and the quality / cost of the donor car.
