  1. I have to agree here too, but it's your car and what's best for some isn't for others. Richard :)
  2. My advice is to stick with 17s or 18s. These cars have a voracious appetite for rear tyres and on a car with such performance potential you do not want cheap tyres - anything less than a premium grade best quality tyre is foolish IMO. 17s look fine, 18s will look better and there will be very little compromise in ride quality. Plus tyres are more readily available in these sizes whilst keeping the prices reasonable. Richard :)
  3. Maybe not mate, but a DR offence stays on your licence for 10 years...... Richard :x:
  4. IIRC, there was a thread about this some time ago. Apparently you melt the plastic with a soldering iron in a sort of "X" across the orange lens. I do believe Funky Si did this mod last year....... Richard :smw:
  5. Hear Hear, Mark. If the Yanks don't like foreign cars then they should stick to the shit-boxes of their own domestic market. Oh but no, they realized their cars were shit a long time ago, so they import the finest from Japan and Europe; then want to legislate so that foreign manufacturers ruin their own cars just for the US market  Surely not many Veyrons will find their way to the US anyway; not only that but if the safety features are good enough for the EC market - where we drive harder and faster on more congested roads - why can the US not accept it?? Most yanks are so fat now anyway that they have their own supplementary restraint system...... :x: Richard :D
  6. I remember Jezza saying on (Old) Top Gear some years ago that instead of airbags there should be a big spike behind the steering wheel........ Richard ;)
  7. Not my thing, I'm afraid. Now a stock looking MkI Capri with a Cossie engine would be pretty cool......... Richard ;)
  8. 2.67134% - said the same thing for me too  Richard :D
  9. Doesn't JeffTT do this for £14-£1500 inclusive? Richard
  10. Really?...... ....on a K plate? I thought 1992+ were series II; I guess you live and learn..... Richard ;)
  11. I'm 36 and on a classic policy (6000 miles pa) with Carole Nash I pay around £260-270 FC, can't quite remember exactly........ When I ran it as a daily driver 2 years ago I still paid £400 FC with full NCB on a regular policy (with Bell Direct) Richard :smw:
  12. If you're not racing, but just want to make a quick getaway from the lights then the following works....... .......use half throttle for the first few metres, just to ensure you have decent traction. Sure, the odd boy racer will around a nose or a car length ahead by 15mph; once you've reached 15-20, nail it an everything else is a blur in the rear view mirror. Sure, you won't achieve maximum 0-100 times like Retro620ti ;) but it's still quick enough to see off most things......... ............and your gear box will live a little longer :nelson: Save Retro's technique for the drag strip/track days :D Richard :smw: PS uprate that 'box oil cooler if yours is an import; UK cars are usually fine as they have the bigger 'cooler as standard.
  13. In principle I agree with Hunnipie but only because we shouldn't have to resort to violence. (But in principle, communism works. In principle! quote Homer J Simpson) However most of these scrotes and chavs have absolutely no respect for other people's property or the law. They commit crime and wanton acts of destruction simply because the system allows them to get away with it. Unfortunately because of a PC liberalized society so preoccupied with the human rights of the criminal fraternity, things have just gotten worse. What these fekkers need is a harsh lesson in respect. The schools no longer administer corporal punnishment and their parents just don't give a shit - if their father is still around that is...... Plus the police can't even administer a "light" kicking in the cells anymore. There's no borstall (like in Scum  ) and when the w#nkers are caught, they are sent on holiday to the Carribean at our expense. So whilst I do not wish to condone a vigilante attack, I think sometimes such an act is necessary. Glad you got the little b@stard DG. Good news you got the cash out of him and hopefully taught him a harsh and overdue lesson. Richard :smw:
  14. 99 spec is the best rear spoiler IMO  The previous one that had the funny side bits almost touching the rear window were pants (sorry to those who have it ;) ) Go for it Si - failing that the only other option for your car would be a tailgate skin, keeping the smooth look. Richard :smw:
  15. Smooth  I do like that...... .....wasn't too sure on the metal flake paint but it has grown on me as well. Richard :hyper:
  16. This is THE most sensible answer on this thread IMO. I have driven both versions of the twin turbo and can honestly say there is very little between them. The 300zx TT is a great car what ever version you buy. I have no preference between the 2 myself and simply chose the best ZX available at the time I was looking - which just happened to be an auto. I would initially have preferred a manual (prior to driving them), for driver involvement etc etc but I am not disappointed with my choice. I do have a low mileage UK spec though hence no problems with the 'box. Whereas imports are prone to failure as the poor oil cooling leads to oberheating on the UK's roads. Best thing is to drive both versions and make your choice. Richard :smw:
  17. I don't find it costly running 2 cars either. I can insure both the ZX and the SLK for the combined price of just over £500 FC. Plus the SLK averages 28mpg and it's not exactly slow compared to most cars. The only cost I consider an extra is 2 lots of road tax... Richard :smw:
  18. Have to agree with that - my zx has never let me down (both when it was used daily and now just a couple of times a week). Yet when I take it on hols and drive around 1000-1500 miles in a week it just seems to get better and better....... Richard
  19. Very similar to the 420G - all nice cars even if a bit "Kray Twins" style... Richard ;)
  20. By the way, has anyone noticed that beer contains female hormones? After 10 pints it makes us men talk shit and unable to drive :hyper: Richard :D
  21. Have to add...... ...a mate of mine had a sex change a couple of years back. Once he had the op and become a she, I asked him (well her) if it was painful, you know having it sliced, folded etc etc. Anyway the reply was.... ...."Well it wasn't too bad having the op to become a woman, it's quite easy and painless having the old knob sliced tucked in and turned into a vag. The only difficulty encountered was having my mouth enlarged and half my brain removed......." Richard ;)
  22. I did use my ZX TT everyday for a while but when I changed jobs and started driving 50 miles a day I bought a Rav4. I wanted to keep the mileage low. Plus the Rav proved useful in the snow...... I've now moved nearer to work so long trecks across the Chilterns should it snow aren't a problem. But I still wanted a newer car for everyday use anyway so I have another car and the ZX just gets used 2-3 times a week. Richard :)
  23. I certainly do not want to pay any more tax, direct or indirect either  To put it into perspective, my annual PAYE and employees National Insurance (EXCLUDING the extra 12.8% NI that my employers have to cough up for the privilege of having we work there....) amounts to more than my wife's gross annual salary. She earns £18K FFS :wack: . On top of that there's VAT, fuel duty, etc etc. Now I read that I'm going to have to pay more council tax to cover Labour's immigration feck-up AND to top up council workers' pension funds so they can still retire at 55; while Blair makes the rest of us work on until 68..... :xxx: GET HIM OUT Richard :headvswal
  24. Personally I wouldn't, Indy. I bought a Scorpio back in 1993. It was only 8 months old with, as you'd expect, very few miles under the belt. I had it for about 2 maybe 3 months and it was without doubt the worst car I have ever had. Bloody thing spent more time back with Ford being repaired, than I ever spent driving it. I liked the idea of owning one back then (why, I don't know - young and foolish I guess  ) so I did it. Pile of poo - stick with the Vauxhall IMO. Richard :)
