  1. Funny how magazines perform comparison tests, there is a clear winner on results yet the writer then picks the one he happens to like best  WhatCar did a road test between Mk3 Supra Turbo, MAzda RX7 Turbo (not the latest version, but the "middle" one and the Alpine GTA n/a back in 1990. The Supra was the better car in all areas except handling; it was faster, more comfortable, easier to own etc etc. The GTA was worst on most areas. On their "blob" scoring the Supra was tops by a very long way and the GTA bottom. YET the writer still cast his verdict on the GTA :xxx: I do happen to like the GTA turbo, but never even considered it in the running when I bought my 300zx. Richard :smw:
  2. A stock ZX TT in good condition will just out perform a DB7 3.2 six cylinder; the DB7 V12 vantage or the DB9 will stuff it though. But a decent modified ZX running higher boost etc - well that's anyone's guess  Richard :)
  3. Nice one Jay  Good to see you're still around mate! Richard :)
  4. Agree with Fairlady and Lets Drift about the majority of women drivers - it's good to find women who can actualy drive properly. So what if statistics say women are safer drivers because they have less accidents - how many do they cause, though without actually being in the accident....... ....Anyway a couple of my pet hates are people who cannot position themselves correctly at a junction. EG, there's a right turn lane but the twat in front still sits in the carriageway indicating right and not moving into the right turn lane so all those going straight cannot pass. Also when you are queueing to turn right at a busy T junction, I always get behind the twat who will not move half way out when there is no traffic coming from the right; if you do move half way out, chances are someone from your left will slow to let you go. I mean when it's so busy THE ROAD WILL NOT BE CLEAR BOTH SIDES AT ONCE FFS!!!!! Old people, OK I appreciate you may want to drive at 40 on a national speed limit straight road, so I will not get annoyed. I have a 300zx and will overtake you when it is safe. BUT WHEN I DO DON'T FEKKING FLASH ME WHEN I DO OVERTAKE - DO YOU REALLY WANT ME SITTING 2 INCES OFF YOUR TAIL FOR THE NEXT 20 MILES   Sorry, not annoyed, honest!! Richard :wack:
  5. Sounds like the sender unit - they are always going wrong. You can buy a new Nissan sender but they cost upwards of £80, so most go for an aftermarket fitment. I prefer stock looks and don't like a plethora of guages so I paid the £80...... Richard :)
  6. Stick to 255/40/17 mate. 255/45 will have a greater rolling diameter and feck up speedo readings; the other sizes are very rare hence unecessarily expensive. 255/40 are readily available in most brands. Welcome to the forum by the way :) Richard :smw:
  7. My 2p's worth - DON'T buy Avon tyres as they are fekking rubbish :wack: Richard :)
  8. Not exactly - the Diablo is 5% 300zx..... :x: Richard :smw:
  9. Whilst the styling is perhaps a little questionable (still a nice looker in the right colour though) and the straight line performance not quite up to a stock 300zxTT the 350Z is a superb drivers car. Handling, gear change and brakes are spot on - although that is compared to a 15 year old 300zx. Upgrade the old worn parts on a 300 and there will be very little difference I'd say. Having test driven one I was very impressed but I didn't buy one. The driving pleasure gained was not worth the £20k over the top of my 300 TBH. Richard :)
  10. Another post brings the thread back to the top - ie "bumps it up" Geddit? Richard
  11. Exactly - it is only acceptable if there are signes in adjacent lamp posts etc with a picture of a car with 2 wheels on the kurb. Usually there are also white lines on the pavement indicating how far cars are allowed to encroach on the footpath. Richard :)
  12. Same here, but i'd never let Julia loose on a salad in case she burned it....... Richard :wack:
  13. I was thinking of buying one a while back as I love them too - look good and have serious performance (10s 0-100 on some versions) However the broker that supplies the fleet cars for my company told me not to bother as it would spend more time in the work shop than on the road. That's why so many are advertised as having engine overhauls when they have done less than 40k miles. Now the Maserati 3200gt is a different matter........although when it does go wrong it wil cost ££££££s to fix. I just kept my ZX for occasional use and bought a reliable Merc SLK as a daily driver instead. If you want a weekend toy, though then go for the TVR  Richard :)
  14. Hey FAs, can you tell us why you need to skive of work for 3 weeks? Speaking as senior management, I'd be much more sympathetic to a staff member telling me the truth about needing 3 weeks off than if they lied about it. Be careful mate, lies can return to bite you on the arse....... Richard :)
  15. Or Lily Fekking Allen and Fat Boy Slim  Virgin has really sold out to the mainstream by the sound of their radio station of late. What happened to all the rock etc it used to play  Anyway - congrats on getting tickets. There is still plenty of good music to appreciate  Couldn't do the tent thing though - I'd have to cheat and find a hotel nearby....... :wack: Richard :smw:
  16. Shouldn't the recommended reading be anywhere between 15 & 30 psi at idle when warm? Richard :)
  17. MIne's on its way out too. However the occasional smoke is at worst a little annoying. There's no noticable oil consumption or drop in performance so I think i'll leave it as is. Richard :)
  18. Looks a nice late model, that. Probably the newest TT you'll find for sale, I'd say. Richard :smw:
  19. New Superman film is fekking ACE  Go see it Indy. Richard
  20. Don't they use Scoobies as well? I saw a programme on TV about police in Scotland and one copper drove an unmarked WRX. Richard :wack:
  21. The 9000 turbos were very rapid in some guises - mid-range performance of the top end model was in league with 911  Richard
  22. Fave film...... There can be only one  Highlander   Richard :)
  23. "Search" is your friend here..... .....there are many answers to that  However from experience, when doing an oil and filter change, my mechanic is given 4 litres only as it is very easy to overfill the 300zx. The oil takes a fair while to drain back into the sump, thus when checking the dipstick it gives the impression there is not enough in yet. However he puts in just under the 4 litres, leaves it 1/2 hour then when he checks it, hey presto - bang on full  Richard :) BTW it is a UK spec TT auto......
  24. Not always - as long as the NIP is sent to the registered keeper within 14 days. So if you have a company car or your car belongs to a lease company you would never know when the original NIP arrived at their address. Richard :)
  25. Top one....... ......then I bought mine 3-4 years ago so prices were higher then. Although not as high as some original members would have paid. Richard
