  1. Same from me too. If you are looking for a good one, there are a few up for sale on here at the moment. You're more likely to find one that has been properly looked after, rather than the cheap ebay rubbish! Good luck with your search. Richard

Welcome to the club  You'll find us a pretty friendly and helpfull lot (honest!). Richard :D
  3. Apart from a healthily appetite for petrol and rear tyres, I don't find the ZX expensive to run, either as a daily driver or a toy driven only a couple of times per week. Plus I must have bought wisely 3 years ago because mine has (so far) proved very reliable, however if it breaks I will get it fixed - I won't worry about it. But I guess having a well paid job and a only a small mortgage helps........ :) Richard :smw:
  4. I'm not too good with heights so no way would I go on that..... ......mind you I took a hot air balloon ride a couple of weeks ago, we went up to 3200 feet and I was fine with that. In fact it was pretty awesome and I'd definitely do it again  Richard :)

    Me too..... :)

So does that make you a hairdreser or a bit gay...............? :x:
  7. True, but that is the grade most readily available synthetic oils seem to come in.......... :) Check out the shelves in premium branded petrol stations, sure you also see the occasional 5w30 now but the "30" is too thin when hot for a 300zx. Richard :smw:
  8. As above, along with personal preference/experience and level of tune. With a stock engine a "60" viscosity (as in 10w60) is unnecessary. NIssan specified 10w40 semi-synthetic; so to improve on that a 10w40 or 5w40 fully synthetic is a suitable upgrade. I use Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 and have no problems at all. negligible oil consumption and "textbook" oil pressure when hot. That's on a stock 85k mile twin turbo. Highly tuned engines will genrate more heat so the "40" bit will be too low. In those extremes (Like MAc1) a 10w60 is best choice - Like Greg said, Castrol or Millers are among the best available. Richard :)
  9. Sure have! I borrowed a fully loaded 350slk for a long weekend last year. Very nice car  The chap who supplies our fleet cars at work got hold of a demo model for me. That "scarf" thingy was just excellent when driving in November with the roof down...... Loved the built in phone and the front fog light that comes on whith the indicator on the same side at night, to light you way round the corner  Richard :)
  10. Yup! It is pretty good - go, you'll love it! Richard :)
  11. I overtook a Focus driving tosser on a national speed limit road one recent weekend, he was on the phone driving and at 25mph with his car loaded up with a ladder and some more crap.:xxx: Anyway, just as I passed him I saw another car coming the other way. I checked my left mirror and the twat had begun to accelerate. Although I was in the Rav-4 I still managed to safely complete the manouver. However he didn't like being overtaken by a 4x4 and hooted/flashed me etc several times. Like a responsible driver I just ignored the twat, but when he proceeded to drive as close as possible, hooting etc I got a bit pissed off. I just hit the brakes very hard - I know it was a bit dumb but it had the right effect..... ......just before coming to a halt I dropped to 2nd and floored it, upon looking behind I saw the twat half way into the next carriageway with the ladder sticking through his windscreen :x: Richard
  12. Ditto - none in my UK 300zx but I have them in my SLK. They heat up immediately and provide instant warmth when driving with the top down in winter. Plus you can put them on "half" heat so on those mornings when you wake up with a stiff back, the drive to work melts away that pain  Richard :) PS I think late spec UK cars with leather had heated seats.......
  13. Rock rules  To my earlier selection I'd like to add "All Along the Watchtower" by Jimi Hendrix....... .....I'm sure I can thing of dozens more - I'll just stick with the contents of my CD changer  Richard :smw:
  14. Some great pics there everyone  All of my best are taken on 35mm and not on CD, so I can't post any :( Richard :smw:
  15. Yes it's fine - as long as you are within the speed range for the gear you change down to. Also watch this in the wet so you don't upset traction. Richard :)
  16. Yup - got them on all my cars now. Got to be better at combatting fake MOTs etc. Richard :)
  17. Good choice  I'd like to add: Fool for your lovin - Whitesnake Rock & Roll Children - Dio Summer of '69 - Bryan Adams Give In To Me - Michael Jackson 18 & Life - Skid Row Richard
  18. Glad you got it back mate! As for the winter, what do you think 300bhp rear wheel drive is like in the snow...... don't bother! My old Mk3 Supra wouldn't move in 2 inches of snow - it just sat there wheel spinning  Hence I've not taken my ZX out in the snow; I bought a 4x4 2 years for trecking across the Chilterns when it snows. Richard :) PS, as I'm an old git I am part of the forum campaign to abolish TXT SPK on here........ :x:

Whilst the police officer should be setting an example to the rest of us, I think it is far worse when some jumped up celebrity (like Beckham etc :x: ) gets off with speeding. Afterall, this copper was supposed to be an experienced driver. Whereas a celebrity just happens to have a fast car. At the end of the day, he did wrong and unless he has sirens on and was attenting an emergency (which he wasn't) then he must face the consequences. I also know that many of us have "tested" our cars on public roads and gone undetected. Whilst I see no harm in doing 150mph on an empty, straight motorway in clear dry conditions in a car more than capable of handling the speed, it is still illegal. We may do it once or twice but we know the consequences should we get caught, therefore if a copper (or celebrity) does the same thing then he must face the same punishment as you or I. Richard :)

I have read some suffer problems with the intercooler being crap as it sits on top of the engine? Richard :)
  21. No probs mate! Mine's a UK spec to and I've had no auto box problems in over 3 years (25k miles) since I've owned the car. I did use it as a daily driver for a fair while - hard driving 50 miles per day too. You can manually change gears too, but as these cars are so quick you have to change up fairly swiftly, otherwise it is slower than leaving it in drive (ie you it the limiter and it won't go any more). Max speed in first comes up quicker than you can imagine......... Richard :)
  22. Just a thought.... ......but what about those companies like Dentmaster who also specialise in dash repairs. Some cover up holes from car phone kits etc - it may be worth contacting one for a quote to repair your damage. Afterall if it costs you less then £100, it's got to be better than you removing and replacing the whole thing? Richard :)
  23. Exactly what he said mate! In the UK, the 300zx was available between 1990 and 1994. All were the same mechanically and tests in Autocar, WhatCar etc etc ALL showed 0-60 in 5.6/0-100 in 14. Auto is very similar to manual, despite Nissan advertising. The auto box was designed to ensure both cars performed similarly; it is said that whilst the manual may be a couple of 10ths quicker to 60, the auto is quicker to 100. I drove both when looking for a ZX and TBH there was nothing between them. Richard :)
  24. Who cares? I mean who's going to see it??? Black is probably the best option though......... :wack:
