NZR - What estate car?
Volvo T5 is my recommendation too mate. Police use them with no problems and they rack up serious miles at all kinds of speeds. Richard :)

Stuck on M6 Amb temp went 60Deg!
Why is 95 degrees so bad for a ZX engine? I'm not questioning anyone's judgement here, I just want to know. The temp guage on my SLK is marked in degrees (up to 120) rather than just a red bit, yet in the hot weather it can regularly hit 100 without any problems??? ZX stock guage sits well below 1/2 way - although after a hard drive, when I turn the engine off for 10 minutes then switch the ignition back on (without starting) it shows 3/4. However when I start the engine it drops back to below 1/2 almost immediately........ Richard :)

Tyre advice
I have to disagree with the ability of Avon ZZ3s mate - what do you compare them to? When I bought my ZX it had brand new ZZ3s all round and the grip was merely adequate in the dry but awful in the wet. I replaced them with Goodyear F1s which were in a totally different class. In fact I replaced the Goodyears 6 months ago when they were worn out and I have to say, with 2mm of tread the F1s were still gripping in all conditions, way better than the Avons did new. Richard :)

Peak District
When I spent a weekend there a couple of years ago I visited: Heights of Abraham at Matlock Bath Pooles Cavern (Buxton IIRC?) Blue John Cavern (Castleton) - Castleton itself was quite nice too Peak Cavern (Castleton) The Peak Railway at Darley Dale Arkwrights Mill at Cromford Also enjoyed an authentic bakewell pudding (Don't say tart!) in Bakewell. I thought it was a pretty nice place to visit. Stayed in an excellent hotel too - The Peacock at Rowsley (midway between Matlock and Bakewell). HTH Richard :)

300zx vs r32 gtr vs vr-4 vs mk3 vs old rx7 supra video!
Have to disagree there mate. I am also a big fan of the Mk3 Supra - I had 2 3.0 turbos before my 300zx. I also drove a j-spec 2.5tt and thought it no better than my 2nd one (a j-spec 3.0 turbo targa). Both were pretty stock, although the j-spec one only had 1 cat hence was a little livelier than my previous UK spec Supra. However the 300zx is obviously in a different league, way above the venerable Mk3. It is (slightly) lighter and has more power & torque. It is sufficiently quicker to 60 but from there to 100+ my (stock apart from exhaust) 300zx would completely stuff either of my Supras. And the overtaking capabilities of the ZX completely outclassed the Supras. It took me ages to find a worthy replacement for my last Supra but in all honesty the 300zx filled the void and more. NZR anyone in banking, finance, accountancy?
All down to money laundering regs mate. Personally I think it is the government trying to spy on everyone - the money laundering regs appear fine in principle (In principle, communism works. In principle - Homer Simpson  ) but in reality it is using a sledge hammer to crack a nut. The real villains have found ways to avoid detection long ago  Transferring large sums between bank accounts will probably be OK, banks etc are more concerned with irregular transactions or large dealings in cash. Richard :)

Absolutly Gutted!
At least it has gone to a good home though mate. :( Yours was indeed a fine spec'd ZX and I do feel for you seeing it go. I couldn't bear to part with mine, hence the reason for keeping it....... ......although a nice mint SWB TT manual with leather may tempt me to replace the one I already have. Good luck with the RX - it does indeed look good. Richard

Been done to death, but need to confim.
What he said. If economy is an issue don't buy ANY car that comes in 3 litre turbo format........or any performance car for that matter  On a serious note for answering your question, I have a fairly stock UK TT auto. A fill up (when the light comes on) costs £60 or so, from that I get around 230 miles before the light comes on again during normal mixed driving. On a long m-way run at 90-100 mph I usually see 280 miles from the same amount of fuel. But a couple of days blasting round country B roads returned little more than 150 miles on one occasion. From previous calculations I probably average 20 mpg, perhaps 26 mph on a decent m-way run. That has dropped to 12 mpg with said B-road thrashing. Then I didn't buy a 300zx with any thought for the fuel costs - I simply expected to have to feed it (very) often - and just sit back and enjoy the drive :x: Richard :)

maybe geting a old 5 series soon
I must say I have to agree with this comment.......... Richard :wack:

Using T-cut
Ditto - I would only use on dull, faded or oxidised paint to bring back the shine. It's very hard work as well! Personally if you have just a few swirls or scratches use T-cut on those areas. Use a colour coded polish (eg Turtle Wax Colour Magic) over the whole car. This masks slight imperfections rather than removes them but it also protects the paint as well. If you're feeling particularly energetic use a top coat sealer afterwards to seal in the shine. Even doing the whole car twice with those will be less effort than T-cut. Richard

Dilema....350Z or treat the 300ZX
Buy the 350z. But with the price of the 300zx at present, I'd still keep it as a weekend car. Throwing £10k at at any 14 year old car worth £4k is (I know I'm going to get slated for this....) a complete waste. When you do sell it later, you'll still only get £4k or less. I did think of buying a 350z last year after driving one. However when I got back in my 300 to drive home, I (personally) just didn't think it would give me £25k worth of driving pleasure over my ZX. I decided to buy a 6 year old Merc SLK as a daily driver and keep the 300zx for proper driving. Richard

Doctor Who!
I actually thought he same. Chris Eccleston was excellent and a tough act to follow but David Tennant has done brilliantly  Until the latest episodes I always preferred Tom Baker, but now I think I've been converted........ BTW anyone been to the Doctor Who museum thingy in Llangollen? Well worth it, even if you are not a fan it's still dead good  Richard :)

another reason to avoid nissan
If they've fekked it up then they must pay to put it right IMO. Just make a fuss and they will give in  Not all Nissan garages are bad BTW - Dan Perkins in Slough are very good. They have a technician called Indy who is a 300zx specialist. Although I don't have repair/servicing done there (because of their prices) I do have my MOT and any diagnostic/tuning adjustments done. I believe a couple of members near-ish to me go there and have always received good service. Gio for example... Richard :)

Stopped using Optimax
Having a Uk car that is stock, save for filter and exhaust I normally use regular 95ron unleaded. Afterall the car was originally set up to run on the stuff. I occasionally use Optimax or BP Ultimate but TBH I don't really notice any difference either, save for slightly better economy on a long run. But then I find Shell in general gives better MPG than other brands, both in my ZX and Merc SLK. However during very hot weather (say 28 degrees plus) I have very occasionally experienced safety boost - probably down to detting. Optimax did cure the problem there, but under most circumstances there is no safety boost probem so regular u/l works fine for me. Richard

what do you all think?
Looks good mate...... ......so good it really shows how ugly the other two cars next to it are  Richard

Always wondered what a tailgate skin would look like with a spoiler on top...
Ditto - that in a fine combination and really enhances the look from a standard ZX  Richard

Looked at another one today
Good call on walking away there mate. BTW some good advice - NEVER buy a ZX from a dealer in Birmingham. :x: You've been warned! As Dave (Royal) says - there are a few good ones for sale here at the mo - like his for instance. Much better than taking a risk on a bad one IMO. Good hunting Richard
