  1. Up to 30 or 40 it could be close, as suggested above. The Clio has a pretty powerful engine for its size and weighs less than a tissue box. But the Clio has a 0-60 time of over 7 seconds compared to 5.6 for the 300zx. I'd have thought the Clio would have a quicker "take-off" speed but after a couple of seconds the zx would have been in front and pulling further away. Perhaps your auto box is tired....? There is also a knack to fast take-offs in an auto. I believe there was a recent thread on "how to do it properly" - I posted on it........ ;) Richard
  2. I must remember the chainsaw one  You never know when you might be tempted to stop the thing by shoving your knackers into the blade...........
  3. I know a great deal of Nissans are built in Sunderland but I didn't know the 350Z was :smash: So Nissan didn't follow on the Z heritage and build them all at the same special Z-car factory as ours.....? Richard :slap:

    Soooo true  Richard :slap:
  5. So what is the biggest (wholly) british car manufacturer left then? I think it may be "Manganese Bronze" Who? I hear some ask... ....they make the London "Black" taxi ;) Then again maybe they've been bought by foreign investors for all I know  Richard
  6. Bleaurgh :hurl: That's just a Micra that grew a bit bigger and fatter
  7. That would be no problem.......... Car is a sack of shite though - why should he hide its Japanese origins "just because he lives in Germany???" OK there is more of a badge snobbery thing over there because the Germans find it hard to accept their cars are NOT the best in the world; the Japanese can better for half the price so it must piss them off  BUT, I'd still rather have a German car than an Italian one, even if the Italians make some fine V12 machines. Richard :nono:
  8. I don't think they are being intentionally mean, Anna.... .....but you have to understand most of us here are men. Men do not like pink cars (although I do have doubts about one or two members  ) so we find it hard to be enthusiastic about one. You have clearly put a lot of effort into this and so long as you are pleased with it, that's all that matters. The world would be a dull place if we all had the same taste. It's not my thing, but it does look a quality job, although I'd lose that black strip above the rear lights. I hope it gives you sufficient pleasure in return for all your efforts. Richard :)
  9. That would be good, Si. The car looked mighty fine then but I know you won't over-do the body mods. I too think stock (ish) is best - the 300zx was one of the best looking cars out of the box, why mess with an automotive work of art? I mean, no-one in their right mind would alter the body-styling of a DB5, would they?? Can't wait to see the finished product! Richard
  10. Hey Si, I've just had a look. Gotta love that 99-spec rear spoiler and smoothed look  Really suits the pearl white to a tee, mate! Richard :)
  11. It's just not my bag, baby...... (Well someone had to say it ;) ) Richard :slap:
  12. That's where I got mine from  Excellent quality/service/price. I have aways used Autostyle for car mats since 1997 and I haven't been disappointed yet. Richard :)
  13. What he said...... ......although I wouldn't necessarily believe the mileage on a lot of J-spec cars as there are sooooo many fresh imports with the "magical" 54k miles :smash: Although in general, J-spec cars have generally covered less miles, but at least with the few good UK spec cars you can verify the mileage ;) Richard
  14. Not to mention Gruntpa64's SWB........
  15. I agree here too  Plus if you ever get a scratch etc later, keeping the original colour is best for any body-shop as they can get the paint code from the VIN-plate ;) Richard :)
  16. That green one with the 99-spec front is mighty fine  Love that cream leather too  Richard ;)
  17. Check this out........ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pP1X-O2eFhE&eurl=
  18. Maybe Pete, but it looks like an American survey and remember they think the pinnacle of automotive excellence is a pick-up truck....... :p Richard ;)

Fully agree there Dave. No wonder there seems to be a backlash against minority religions - particularly Islam - at the moment. I am not prejudice but when I read this kind of thing, I think why the f#ck do I live in a country that allows this to happen. The PC brigaed have gone too far now, when the authorities are scared of saying/doing anything against Moslems for fear of being racist or Islamophobic. Then I read in the papers yeterday that Moslem athletes are going into one because the 2012 Olympics will clash with Ramadan. I read on that 40-60% of Moslems surveyed would like Sharia Law introduced in some instances..... .....if you can't stand the heat, you know what to do. Richard :slap:

just stay away from caffeine mate - that'll raise your BMP and no mistake! Good luck and hope it all works out for you. Richard
  21. The XK8 is a nice car - classy looking but not so exciting to drive. I drove a few earlier this year, thinking of replacing the ZX and to be honest I was disappointed. I've always been a Jag fan but the XK8 feels ponderous and very lardy - they were all sub 50k mile cars going for £15k-ish too, so not shagged ones. I belive the XKR is better but didn't get round to trying one. I kept my ZX and bought an SLK instead; it's more fun to drive than the Jag. If you can stretch to the Supercharged baby, go for it. Otherwise don't even think of a £9k XK8 - it is like buying a £1.5k ZX from Fleabay; very risky :nono: Richard
  22. What Bob said..... .....different authorities have different margins now. You are pretty much OK with the 10% but the +1 etc is a grey area. If you are unsure, get GPS and drive using the indicated speed on that.... Richard
  23. Amen Si - in total agreement there :hyper:
  24. My third car was a Cavalier Mk1 coupe. A 2.0gls in sapphire blue way back when I was 18. That was a great car in its day - plus I fitted the obligatory twin Webber carbs and custom exhause from Peter Maiden Components. I always liked the Manta GTE, but I decided on an Astra GTE the next year instead.....(but as the car was only a few months old at the time, it wasn't a "lax power" chav car then ;) ) Richard :D
  25. Me too..... .....though an article in Japanese Performance a couple of years ago said then, that there were officially more J-sepc cars registered at DVLA than original UK spec ones. Richard
