  1. Oh, and thanks for the tips gents...... .....I'll give Firebond and Livingstones a try. Plus at the classic car show today, I asked Footman James and Heritage as well. Let's just see what they come up with.... ;) Richard :smw:
  2. It's because I'm 36 and tight fisted, so I expect it cheap........... ;) Plus I have 2 other cars to insureall round the same time :slap: Richard :D
  3. I know it's been done may times, but who are you with? I am currently with Carole Nash, the Chaucer Classic policy last year was £275 FC for up to 5000 miles pa. Their renewal has come in at £375 - quite an increase. I have just called Adrian Flux and Houghtons this morning. The same (Chaucer) policy with them was £420 and £637 respectively....... What's going on  I'm 36 with a clean licence and have only had 1 claim in 19 years  Richard :smw:
  4. And bloody good is was too  ;)
  5. Some of you fellas have pretty warped film collections........ :nono: Bloody hell, I had to switch of when Bambi's mum snuffed it  (Still did not stop me having venison for lunch the next day............sweeeeeet ;) ) Richard :D
  6. I do love the last model 500SL as well. Silver or black for me too, with a decent set of wheels. I'm not too sure about white though, but they do a nice metallic dark blue....... Richard
  7. BTW I voted for 99-spec overall
  8. I agree with this - the 6-pot venoms would look way better without the stock centre panel. The different shape lights just look pants together IMO. Venom 4-pots with the 1-piece rear panel look good too, but I can't say I like the Fiat lights....... ........unless someone does an after-market "clear" version. Richard :)
  9. Too true. Mercs have way more class than BMs ever could......(hence I bought one  ) The 3 series is as common as pigeon poo! Plus when Jaguar tried to imitate BMW by building that wretched X-type, they too cheapened their brand. However Merc go smaller with the B and even A class cars yet still manage to retain their prestige ;) Richard
  10. I agree too. A good quality fully synthetic should be left in for at least 6k miles. Too frequent changes can possibly cause more harm than good, if some of the reading previously on here is correct....... :nono: Richard ;)
  11. Always a non-sarcastic and helpful response from Si  Back to topic, Halfords are a good bet. They sell Bosch ones - can't remember the correct sizes though but one thing is for sure, their guide book doesn't list the 300zx  Just measure the ones on your car (driver's side is bigger) and buy the same again. The fitings will be OK if you get the Bosch ones. Richard ;)
  12. Just what I was thinking..... ....when they catch the fecker, he should be plunged head first into a pile of elephant crap. That'll teach him :smash: Richard :hurl:
  13. I quite like the latest (E46?) M3, but the old E36 is just a pimps/drug dealer's car and I wouldn't even piss on one if it was on fire  However I wouldn't buy an E46 as the 3 series looks to ordinary unless it's the convertible. Now the M5 - like Si says is a different matter. Fast and subtle and with a better image than the "rep mobile" 3 series (afterall, the M3 doesn't look much different to the 318 tdi, does it?). I do like the 8 series, and there are some pretty good examples out there for not a lot of cash now. Although I think they have dated more than a Z32 - the lift up lights are a bit old school nowadays......... ..........8 series is slower than its rivals too (Z32 included) so if I was picking another old school bruiser (other than Z32 ;) ) it would have to be the Porsche 928gts or Merc 500sl. Still love that Monaro though Si - serious depreciation though. I looked at a "normal" version in January as the VXR was a bit out of reach but prices have tumbled since then so I'm glad I didn't bother :nono: Richard :)
  14. Awesome result there Keith  Like it loads - Like you say, shame the centre guauge does not quite match the others but with those looks, I doubt it will notice. I hate loads of aftermarket guages cluttering up the interior of any car, so your dash is THE perfect solution. Like Andy Duff said, there really is a market for that, so think about it...... ........when's the new series of "Dragon's Den"..... ;) Richard :)
  15. Can't beat the 99-spec rear end IMO  Richard
  16. I've done this too with my daily driver and wifes car. 1999 Merc SLK230 and 2002 Rav-4 2.0 nrg, fully comp, came in at £287 and £290 respectively. (Yes, I can't understand why a group 16 car should be cheaper than a group 10???) I've been with Admiral a few years now and they have given a pretty good service. Plus Direct Line wanted over £400 for Julia to insure the Rav this year :smash: Richard
  17. My question here is...... ......did you bolt the JVC unit inside the dash using the stock radio brackets, or did you install the cradle that comes with the new stereo? If you did the former (like I did), there should not be too much of a gap, as the dash covers the edges of the head unit. The first head unit I fitted did have a bit of a gap, however. So I trimmed down the surround that came with it, so that it would fit. Basically, I removed the top side altogether, then cut back the rear of the outer edges until it clipped in place over the centre console. I then smoothed and sprayed it satin black to blend in. I can't show you any pics, as I have a different head unit in now and that fits with no gaps ;) Richard :)
  18. Yup, this too.... ......Mine was the autoleads one from Halfords, not their own brand. It came with the adaptor included. Richard :)
  19. Sure do! Although when I removed my stock head unit, I bought the Halfords adaptor (nissan to ISO) but there was no connection for the electric aerial. I had to splice the aerial power feed from the car's loom into the spare live feed from the head unit. I believe I used the accessory wire... Richard :)
  20. What he said...... Richard :)
  21. That's pretty good - I just viewed my company's 'site using it  I'll wind up out IT chappie with that on Monday..... ......I can see his face now when I say, "Hey, look what's happened to our homeage.....!!" Richard ;)
  22. Amen brother! Thing is, everyone knows this (except for the green lobby, who are certain cars are the devil's work). Yet when the government spouts its crap that emissions and higher speed limits will kill our children, most of the public fall for the spin and accept the legislation  WAKE UP, PEOPLE :slap: Richard ;)
  23. If you ever wanted to, I'm sure here are many here who would bite your arm off....... .......me included ;) Richard :)
  24. Exactly! My slk230 auto has no trouble with a Williams Clio and my ZX will stuff the Merc....... Either adjust your driving style of get your ZX looked at. ;) Richard :)
  25. I think this too - the early "flat" one is better than the "2nd" type. The 99-spec is IMO the best spoiler for a ZX, including all aftermarket opions. Richard :)
