What do you think of these wheels???
Hi Alex, I personally don't like them - same reason as FunkySi (Jeez - he and I really should stop agreeing with each other.......) anyway I checked his other items and I quite like: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150083387728&ssPageName=MERC_VI_RSCC_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT&refitem=150083387742&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=active_view_item&usedrule1=StoreCatToStoreCat&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget I think they better suit the zx, although they would be better in standard colour.......... Batterys
I just bought one from my local motor factors: http://www.autoparts-online.co.uk/ Didn't cost much either - less than Halfords - plus it fitted perfectly! Richard :) PS it's the same one as the Lambo Diablo, if the shop don't know what a 300zx is ;)

Started to overheat today :-(
Exactly! Do not use ANYTHING but a genuine Nissan item. Someone here did a comparison some time back and the impeller on the "pattern" part was a lot smaller than the Nissan one. Since good cooling is vital on a 300zx it's not worth skimping. Have you had the cambelt changed yet? It's normal to do the lot together as the water pump is only really good for 60k miles....... And whilst you are "in there" replace the stubby little coolant hoses at the front of the engine. Chances are, you'll have the front off to change the pump and these will start to leak in a month :nono: Richard :)

Alloys, which brands to go for and which to avoid???

Be Aware: New Handsfree Law
This actually could be reduced when the anti-smoking laws come in! ;) I received an info pack at work the other day reminding me of my legal responsibilities (on behalf of the company) in enforcing the law. Aparently, company vehicles "that are available for use by more than one person" are also classed as company premises. Therefore I must ensure they too remain smoke-free zones! Since most vehicles on the road during the day are company owned, that's a fair few where the drivers will no longer be allowed to light-up. Richard :D

And why bother building a replica beemer anyway?? Afterall they're as common as pigeon droppings and cheap enough to buy the real thing...... Richard

Beaver
Can't say I'm into the "hairless" variety - it just seems a bit "under-age" to me........... :x: BTW a chap was sitting in a dentist's chair and the dentist asked "Have you been giving your mrs oral sex this morning?" "Whoops" says the chap, "Have I got a couple of pubes in between my teeth?" "No" replies the dentist "You have shit on the end of your nose" Richard

Jade Goody and family
I have to agree with that comment mate - they are on their third term now :xxx: It's down to the sad state this country is in, that thick talentless loudmouths who belong in a zoo, can actually sign up to take part in what is little more than a zoo for (and I use the term losely) humans and emerge rich and famous for it!!!?? Reality TV has made it far too easy for low-lives to with no real talent to "make it" whilst the sub-intelligent masses lap it up like the salivating dogs they are. There are many performers with real talent who are still struggling to succeed. And it's going to get worse, no doubt...... Richard :(

Everyone OK?
Fine here...... ......apart from the bit of tree that cracked my windscreen. B@stard  Not on the Z though - that was safely locked up in the garage. Richard :headvswal

Xenon
If you want to upgrade to HID lights then you will indeed need an H3 conversion kit for the dipped beam. That is the same whether you have a UK car or an import as the bulb pattern is the same (it's just the wires on the stock bulbs that differ between H3 and H3C). Speak to Danny at DTA. Richard :)

Auto Z Twin turbo - Acceleration Improvement
0-60 on a stock auto is still around 5.6 seconds so it is still way quicker than most things, however the 300zx is a superb overtaking car. OK people have spoke about 50-150mph, but in all honesty for 40-90mph a-road overtaking a ZX really comes into its own. Being a realatively heavy car with rwd and no traction control, most modifications will not take 0-60 much below 5 but your 0-100/standing quarter mile times can be improved quite a bit. The increased power/torque has more effect from (say) 50-100 than 0-60. Richard

Do women make your cars messy?

Do women make your cars messy?
OK, this is not a sexist rant more an observation! I am quite particular about the interior of my car being clean. In this weather I am not so bothered about the outside but as I sit inside it, I give it a hoover once a week and ensure it has a nice air freshner too. BUT, the second my wife gets in the car she leaves footprints on the carpet. She also has this fekking quilted coat filled with small feathers (like a duvet!) that moults and leaves the feathers on the seat/dash etc. Honestly, I drive my car everyday yet I manage to keep it tidy but she is in it for 5 minutes and it needs another hoover  It's not only Julia either - if I go out to lunch with the girl I work with she too leaves muck on the carpets. None of the blokes at work do that!! I have just spent almost an hour hoovering and polishing the Rav inside (which Julia uses during the week) because of the state she leaves it. I clean each car as often, but the other 2 only take 15 mins to clean because I don't make a mess. Is it just me that thinks girls leave cars in a mess???? Richard :slap:

Wtf
As above, really! I did take a brief look at the link from this thread. After a page or so I gave up :wack: Richard

redundancy
Good advice there! If you were thinking of moving on anyway and would have no probs getting another job then take it. As your wife earns a decent wedge and you are nearly mortgage free then the pressure is kinda off really, isn't it. Pocket the £25k and find something else. All the best, whatever you do...... Richard :)

Teflon/Anti-water Coating
Yup, sure does - use it on your headlights too as it stops the muddy water accumulating on the glass in this weather and reducing the light output  Richard :)

Do Not Order From Mytyres!!!
I personally use http://www.etyres.co.uk They also come out to your home or work and fit the things for you - unlike Mytyres who are supply only - saves you the bother of taking your car and tyres to a fitter, who will charge you for the pleasure, thus reducing any saving you make. Never had an issue with Etyres and would highly recommend them to anyone! Richard

biggest power from engines
It may last a bit longer on a new engine, but basically we are talking engines that have been run for 12+ years now too.......... .........so exactly what Chris said  Richard :)

fuel
usually around 225 miles mixed a/b-road driving, some urban and a little hard overtaking. On a long m-way run at around 90-100 I can get 260-280 miles. That's from a full tank, until the light comes on telling me to re-fill again. Oh yes, mine's a UK spec TT auto...... Richard :)
