Having had absolutely no luck with the 300zx i am considering letting the guy who is using it for filming at the moment sell it for me.....apparently its quite famous now and should recoup some of the fortune I have spent on it due to its new found fame....its been in the paper and will be on film 2006 etc.

I am considering buying an M3 on an 02 plate and wondered if anyone had any experience of the car in terms of performance and importantly reliability!!!!

Your opinions are always valued.

Rob

PS.I really wanted to make the zed thing work but I trusted the wrong garages with the work and over a year later the car will be fixed and I've lost interest

Maybe I should reveal who did the work? On a lighter note who fancies a race when I get an M3!!!!! How do they perform in comparison?

im not surprised urpissed off with zed life!

how much is m3 like that cost?

id quite like the z3 M, looks a little beast

Fantastic car, but I'd sooner go for an 840/850 and stick a supercharger on it. Much nicer looking and rare car.

840's are starting to look a little dated i think

Newer shape m3's look awesome, specially the laguna seca blue model.

Saying that, a friend bought one for his mrs (yes, he's loaded!), he

also has an escort cosworth (tweaked), according to him, the m3 is

not that fast, nice, just not as quick as he'd expected.

No more than a Z32 IMHO

About £18k....that £8k more than I've already spent on the zed and about the same as it would have cost if the film crew hadn't fixed her problems for the lend!!!

Erm hello? This is a 300ZX site? If I had a ban button you'd all be toast now

They're still gorgeous mate......however I remember watching a feature on top gear about the cost of replacement parts....namely the gearbox.

You know what I'm saying!!! Not doing the old car thing again :nono:

Ermmm.... Non Z related discussion section I believe :p

i looked at one a few months ago and the thing wouldn't even start!

walked away from that sharpish!

the garage said they would phone when they found the problem...i said don't bother!

I actually looked at an 840 before buying the Z32. It was on one of my top 3. That, the Z32 and a Z28 Camaro.

I chose to buy the Z and leave a few pennies in the bank for a rainy day...like you, I've had a fair few rainy days, but I've gone too far with it now. Owes me too much and I am looking forward to getting stuck in and making one of the cleanest examples I can.

What are you talking about? If it's the 8-series, then I bet you bottom dollar there are far more shagged and minging/barried up Z32s than there are 840/850s.

I was thinking along those lines as well, you know really making a special job of it, and I have to say that all my mates love the car and want me to keep it and do it up properly.

the defining factor now is that I'm starting my own business and will need to give clients a lift so the zed just aint suitable I'm afraid.

 again

it was the 840

i don't doubt there are more fooked z32's

but looking for my first drive of one i was quite disappointed not to even see it running

i know its terrible!

u think it would drive the prices of decent examples up but no

i would rather see mine rot in a field than sell for peanuts

Ok, so I like the E46 M3. Does look nice. But have you also considered an M5? I find the 3-series as a whole a little 'common' if you catch my meaning.

not sure about a 4 door car though.........

You said you wanted something to take clients round in. A 2 door M3 isn't really going to be much less practical than a Zed though.

Trust me I know the feeling lol. Only difference is I took my car apart then had all the parts nicked so now i can't even put it back together :( Still got faith in the good old Z32 tho ;) :)

You have a point, but its more the image of the car than the door issue I was concerned about when it comes to clients!!! My zed is EXTREMELY LOUD!!
