Maybe Pete, but it looks like an American survey and remember they think the pinnacle of automotive excellence is a pick-up truck....... :p

Richard ;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Designed by Isao Sono and Toshio Yamashita

Japan has been making really good cars for a long time, but few have measured up to world standards for styling. Of those, Nissan’s crocodile-faced 300ZX is arguably the best, and it has been almost universally admired by designers from other companies for its refinement, elegant surface development, and painstaking detail design. Of several variants, the best is the plain two-seat coupe with a fixed roof--a symphony of pure lines with no extraneous breaks. The rare long-wheelbase model is a practical two-plus-two, but, like the convertibles, it lost the magic appearance.

??????????? is it the same car?????????????

Right then! Thats it! Slicktops Rule. Im off to bed!

Got a long drive tomorro ending up at Kelvedon Hatch

So just behave over in Romford! :D

It's a US publication. I bought that magazine when I was in Minneapolis and it was listed in there.

The reason the 2+2 was shunned was because the TT was never available in it over there, same goes for the convertible. So, both of those models where just conventional coupes and cabriolets.

If you go over on the US forums, they love the ideas of the 2+2 TTs as quite a lot of them prefer the more elegant shape to them and many of the SWB owners actually prefer the appearance of the 2+2, but never went for it because of limited numbers and the fact that the 2+2 TT was never sold there.

Look at some of the other stuff that's in the list though. They have a kind of 'traditional' (read old) look to them. Not what I would call beautiful cars in many cases. And as for that ugly Corvette ....

That can't be right.

SWB look soo much better!

Saloons? You're not these 'types' that calls a Citroen Xantia a saloon car are you?

Personally, I'd not have the SWB (van) ;). As much as I like it, the LWB looks far more in proportion. :)

Although I obviously own a Zed and love them to bits I think that this is ridiculous, one of the 25 best looking cars ever made........do me a favour!!! It's an awesome car no doubt, but it's not one of the best looking cars of all time - I voted no!!! and now I await a barrage of abuse from die-hard Zed enthusiasts.

If it didn't have the Nissan badge, I'm sure people would feel differently about it. It's the same with people struggling to come to terms with the fact that Skoda are now rather good. Nissan make miserable and hateful looking cars. The thing is now cheaper than a high mileage Mondeo, they are not as cherished as more expensive marques and there are some horrifically badly modified ones out there as well as some in appalling condition which give people a totally different perspective on them.

If it were badged as a Masserati, or even a Lotus, I'm sure with its heritage backed kickstart, it would give more of a heads up.

All down to personal opinion afterall.

I, like many zed owners...wanted a 300zx ever since they came out.....alongside the ferrari & Lambo's on my walls as a teenager...I also has zed posters.

Tis true the 300ZX turns head like no other car. I love its predatory look, see it in your rear mirror and you know there is a car that means business :smash:

I've always thought the Z32 was one of the best looking cars ever.

It's all down to taste I guess.

I think the E-Type Jag is ugly and badly proportioned - yet most people would say it's one of the most beautiful cars of all time.

... though i also think the Citroen CX and XM are attractive too :mac1:

Obviously its all a matter of personal taste. BUT, you say "do me a favour" as if you're trying to say SURELY there are 25 cars better looking than the zed, purely because thousands of cars have been made and not because you have your own top 25 in your head.

Everyone who sees my car always say that they can't believe its a j reg as the body shape has aged so well. True classics stand the test of time and so far the zed is doing nicely in my and many other peoples opinion.

ive always wanted a zed, my picture to the left is actually my first zed, brought from toys r us in 1989, a char-g radio controlled thing. i finally purchased one in beautiful original condition and made me feel the way i did when i saw my first zed in the early 90s. the shape of the zed always amazed me and i like legrath had posters of it on my wall, and i think it has aged really well, especially in relation to other cars of that period. it really is timeless inside and out and deserves recognition in this top 25 list!

Yeah, but it would be even less reliable than it is LOL!
