  1. Dished all the way....... .......but there are some rims out there where (like Mania Pacifics) where spokes to the rim look good. Richard ;)
  2. I won't eat them either...... ......I did like them once but it's just too much toffee now. Plus I've had enough of going to the dentist the next day to have my fillings replaced :slap: Richard ;)
  3. Glad to hear that mate - and I hope it didn't cost you too much ;) Richard
  4. No ;) Red was the "designer's choice" colour after all..... :D I'm not a fan of red cars in general (neither is Julia) but we both agree we have made an exception for the 300zx as it does look good in red. And that was before I bought it before you ask...... Richard :nana2:
  5. If you adjust the tyre profile to keep the wheel's total running circumference the same then it makes no difference. So from stock (UK spec) rear tyres are 245/45/16; for each inch you increase the rim size, you reduce the profile (aspect ratio) by 5% to compensate. Of course you shouldn't increase the tyre width by more than 10mm otherwise you would mess up the ratios. Therefore on 17 in rims the natural size is 245/40/17; 18 in rims 245/35/18 etc. Although keeping to 255/40/17 and 255/35/18 respectively has little effect - only an extra 10mm width; plus the tyres are easier to come by. Moving up to 265 or even 285/35/18 would alter speedo reading and possibly performance, as the profile is increased by x% of the wider tyre making the rolling circumference of the wheel greater. Richard :D
  6. Better than the Rhianna (spelling?) version though......... ;)
  7. Hi Tony, That's a bummer.......still at least you will be back in the road fairly swiftly. I was out in mine this morning - I had a nice little "work-out" on the M40 ;) When I don't drive it for a week or two, I forget just how good the car is. If it stays fine this week, I must try to use it a bit more. Hope yours is fixed soon mate. Richard
  8. That's probably selling for over 3 times its original new price ;) Still it's in amazing condition - it would be nice to find a Magnum or a Droop Snoot in that condition; or perhaps an early Manta..... Richard ;)
  9. I know they pay for it out of their salary - as do teachers etc. But when my father was a teacher, he paid reduced rate national insurance contributions to compensate for the pension deduction. So in all his take home pay would have been virtually the same as any private sector worker on the same gross annual salary. This was also the case for Inland Revenue/Customs/DSS employees too. I had assumed it would be the same for the police but I didn't know what changes have been implemented in recent years. Richard
  10. Me too ;) .......................And the uniforms :slap:
  11. That's the best thing about London IMO - the roads out of it ;) I lived there for long enough so I feel I have earned the right to hate the place...... Richard :D
  12. Private sector worker are not guaranteed a pay increase every year in the same way the public sector are, nor do the private sector have a gold plated pension to look forward to. In the past, this was more or less compensated for by private sector workers receiving higher pay than civil servants. Although if recent surveys are to be believed, the public sector has narrowed the gap significantly over the last few years. However what is the average salary for a PC nowadays - at a guess is it around £26-£30k? If so that is no way enough for the work they sometimes have to do. I wouldn't like to do the unsociable hours; risk getting shot or stabbed each time I go to work; or clean up some poor dead unfortunate who has been pasted to the road in an RTA. Richard
  13. Even without roadworks I prefer the M40 over the M1 any time!! Of course I live closer to the M40, but even when driving to Yorkshire I take the M40/M42 route specifically to miss the M1 south of Leicester. M40 is less congested and generally a much nicer motorway IMO. Richard ;)
  14. No wonder you go to the Firecrest - walking distance......well just! I'll keep an eye out for you! Richard :smw:
  15. It looks a quality job, but I think that the all red look would better suit a black car. Didn't Zelda (Sgt C's old ZX) have an all red interior? That looked very good........ Richard ;)
  16. I did think about it but I had to get home to avoid an accident!! ;) The Old London Road runs parallel with the A413 and into Great Missenden High Street. From the Shell garage, go under the railway bridge towards Aylesbury, then turn left by The Chiltern Private Hospital (SP Little Missenden and Kingshill); go past the hospital on your left then about 300 yards in front you'll see a left hand turning. The Nag's Head is on that corner, go just past the turning, without taking it, then turn left into their car park. Where abouts are you staying? Richard
  17. Wise words there. I hope you sort it Stella. ATB mate, Richard
  18. I actually went to school with Tony Mortimer; Sir George Monoux Senior High in Walthamstow! - I didn't know him that well though. I watched the documentary about their attempted come back some weeks ago. Apparently they are all broke except for Tony. Brian does bugger all now and the other 2 have gone back into the building trade. Richard ;)
  19. Sorry to see that mate...... .....poor little cat; I hope he recovers from that quickly. I also hope someone catches up with the f#cker who did it and....well you can guess :mac1: That just makes me mad - even if someone doesn't like animals there is no reason to do that  Richard
  20. I agree with that..... ......the leather trim looks well done though but I also think the paint job maybe suspect. It's also a UK spec car - check out the headlamp washer switch ;) - so I doubt the mileage is correct judging by the state of that steering wheel. Richard :D
  21. That's where I got mine from! Richard ;)
  22. Hi Tony, The car in front of me was turning right into the garage, so I had to wait behind him. I just glanced over and saw your car! I was in my SLK though, not the ZX. I regularly use that garage myself as I live 2 miles up the road in Prestwood. You must be staying pretty close so I'll keep a look out for you, as I sometimes use the Firecrest. If you like good beef/steaks then I'd recommend the Nags Head on the Old London Road...... Richard
  23. I saw a nice green ZX in the Shell garage on the A413 near Great Missenden this morning. It may be TonyB as it looked remarkably like the one I saw in Sainsburys, Aylesbury back in September....... Richard :smw:
  24. Note to the committee.... .....you are all mad! that's like making Reggie Kray (RIP) minister for justice  Richard ;) PS good luck Andy :D
