Mmmm

It's about the same

Looking forward to driving my Zed :hyper:

I'm going to London at the weekend (Camden to be exact)

I live in Warwick, is it best to go down the M40, Oxford,High Wycombe or M1 Northampton, Watford?

As when I do route plans it brings up both...

The difference in miles is negligible

Which one is more fun to drive on?

Any roadworks I need to be aware of?

Thanks :D

m40 all the way.

come down all the way until you get to hanger lane on the a40 then the north circular should dump you out at kensal green or something which is close to camden.

M1 has nightmare traffic because of the widenning. 50 average speed camara zone all the way through it which isnt much fun in a zed. That is if you can get up to 50 thorugh it...

M40 is a great road and apart from around oxford doesnt have much traffic. A friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend etc clocked his highest speed on that road.

Thanks for that Sweetie! :hyper:

I don't think your friend of a friend of a friend etc.... needs to worry about me breaking any records!

Excellent, so looking forward to giving the Zed a good blast .... that's why I bought the car in the first place for :D :D :D

M40 every time at the moment due to roadworks on M1

As you go over the Greenford Roundabout wave or toot

You should get a good run but as always depends on time

Target flyover can be a pain as A40 goes into two lanes just before then opens back to three straight after and the Hanger Lane giratory can be also be a pain depending again on times

There is also a nasty little Speed camera between the Target and the Greenford turn off remember 50mph there. Also there is another one between the M25 and the Target as the 50MPH starts not long after the M25

As Giant Slayer said......

I live in Northampton and have travelled many a time to London, used to go M1 all the time but not for about the last 3 yrs!!! as the M40 is by far the quicker and better route ;)

James

yeah the M1 is absolutely fubar'd from junc 11 down to past 8 its not pretty at the best of times. stick with the m40 you should be fine.

Even without roadworks I prefer the M40 over the M1 any time!!

Of course I live closer to the M40, but even when driving to Yorkshire I take the M40/M42 route specifically to miss the M1 south of Leicester. M40 is less congested and generally a much nicer motorway IMO.

Richard ;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

sorry cant help as i only know the best way to get OUT of london and very quick at that

That's the best thing about London IMO - the roads out of it ;)

I lived there for long enough so I feel I have earned the right to hate the place......

Stay on the A 40 after hanger lane, it becomes the A501. 2 turnings after regents park (on the left) turn onto Hampstead road. It goes to Camden High street. So its litterally 1 turning off the M40 and your there :D

Thanks James :D that sounds nice and easy, perfect for where I'm going

Give us a toot as you go buy hanger lane. I will be there working away.

I will keep an eye out for you. What sort of time are you driving in?

Sorry Darrell

Had no idea what time I was going past Hangar Lane, not that organised ;)

I had a great drive down, singing my head off and playing

with a Porsche part of the way, we kept zooming past each other :D

I heard a new octave on my exhausts  :D :D :D

You were all correct there was no traffic at all until I got to A40

Mark, my zed was fine parked in Camden

I had a great time got home at 1.30am this morning, got there easily enough drive home was only 1hr 40 mins

Getting out of Camden was a bit of a laugh as got lost round one way system, ended up on Holloway Road, going up the A1 towards M1..... noooo, luckily saw a sign for North Circular, as I know that bit and got back to A40/M40

Though it was -2

I have no heater at the mo, will be sorted very soon though

Thanks everyone for the help it made the journey so much fun!
