£20k what to buy?????
PMSL :p I wasn't keen on the CLK either - they can't be that good as their depreciation is much higher than the SLK. They look nice but I know where you are coming from comparing it to your C70....... I have the old shape SLK now and I have been happy with it but I realy like the new one now. They are more "sport" than "luxury" trim but nicely finished nonetheless. Richard ;)

£20k what to buy?????
Only £18k for a year old T5 version?? That's damn good value - I like the new C70 Coupe/Cabrio. I have been looking at an SLK350 but they are still over £25k for a low mileage 3 year old...... Richard

Z32 TT 96 Should I buy it?? Help
That's what I thought too. 1996 will be one of the very last European cars and 68000kms is extremely low for an 11 year old car. If I found a similar example of a UK spec TT manual here, I'd certainly consider it. I think that is the kind of price an excellent condition 300zx should fetch Richard

Number Plate Position and Maf failure?
Especially after a few years on our roads........ :(

Some well price alloys...
They do look good - but I think they would look better on a more stock-looking ZX than the one in those pics. By the way, Leigh, that's a fine looking ZX in your sig - is that one you have for sale? Richard :)

car got stolen need advice
Never accept their first offer mate! Look an Auto Trader's 'site and pull off some adverts for cars similar to yours. There are planet of average looking 300zxs on there for around £3k+ so a nice one "should" fetch more. Also provide the insurers with evidence of any work you have done to the car that would improve its overall condition, thus increase the value. Finally tell them you consider the car to be worth £3-4k and will not accept ridiculous offers. They will come back with an improved offer, I'm sure. Best of luck, Richard :)

Fitted HID's... lights still poor...
Hi Chewie, I'd suggest cleaning the lenses (both the inside of the glass and the front of the projector beam lenses) and then having the lights properly aligned. IMO, the main reason some people have poor headlights (whether HID or not) is down to dirty lenses and badly adjusted beam patterns. Richard :)

Fuel costs - mpg
30+ mpg from a twin turbo...... .......how do you drive??? The most I've ever managed is 300 miles between refills - an average of 23mpg-ish on long motorway runs. Although, granted, that is at 90-100mph. In common with most people here I see around 230 miles between fill-ups. Be realistic guys and don't give new members false hopes about how "economical" a 300zx is. Unless you drive everywhere at 56mph you are NOT going to get much more than 22mpg..... Richard

buying my first z
Not really correct there..... ......OK so a good, clean low mileage UK car will command a premuim but only as far as someone will pay for it. And as for the spec, the 300zx is one Japanese car where the UK cars and imports do not differ greatly - in fact with most UK cars having leather and remote locking with alarm from the factory I'd say the UK versions have the advantage. Generally though, more J-spec cars are in better condition as they don't salt their roads in winter. J-spec cars tend to have lower miles too, but don't count on that being genuine - whereas UK cars may have service history etc etc to corroborate mileage. The best advice though is to look at several cars and pick the best of those you see, regardless of origin auto or manual. Richard

is this a good deal by t-mobile for upgrade?
I'd say no because T-mobile are crap........ .......poor coverage compared to Orange or O2 and, from the experience of friends on T-mobile, poor customer service. Richard

Which Diesel Car???
My sales reps have VW Passat saloons BTW. After sacking one last year I collected his car from Darlington (a 55 plate TDi HiLine 130bhp saloon) and drove it oner 250 miles to my house at 90-100 down the A1/M1 and it returned 50mpg+ Richard :)

Which Diesel Car???
Easy one mate...... ......you had a VW Golf before - IMO VW are among the best diesels around. So I reckon a VW Passat Hi-Line estate TDi 130bhp will fit the bill perfectly. Richard :)

Dumb tax office - advice needed
You have supplied the form they asked for so just tell the tax office that's all you can do. I mean the tax year 2000/01 was 6 years ago in April this year so I think you've done pretty well to get anything from your (then) lender! Why are HMRC going back 6 years anyway - tell them to get stuffed! I used to be a tax manager in an accountancy practice and soooo pissed off dealing with the good old Inland Revenue. They are an "equal opprotunities employer" that means getting any old twat who cannot speak English to man their phones. Plus, and I cannot remember exactly, but wasn't mortgage interest tax relief abolished before 2001? Richard :)

I liked the red one too; it needed 99 spec rear lights and different wheels to finish it off - not mad on the other two though....... And like Si, I totally agree about the doors on the Porsche :( Richard

Insurance!!!!!
If you have use of another car (ie your company car) you should be able to get classic car insurance. Limited miles but no NCB - try Carole Nash or Heritage insurance. I use Heritage, and for FC cover limited to 5k miles p/a and an agreed value of £4000, it comes in at under £300. But I'm 37 and garage the ZX in a low crime area. Richard.

Ebay Z, i like the design!!
I thought that - like everyone else says, the rear is a bit wrong. I'm not too keen on the side bits either but I do like the front end. Pretty much like an Aston, although not in that colour! Richard :)

Be warned
So true

Be warned
I'm all for prosecuting those inconsiderate b@stards who park in disabled bays when they clearly are not. Although those "mother & child" bays are quite handy for us ZX owners because all the normal bays are just too narrow nowadays........... :( And here's another (although rather sexist) observation. In normal (ie not supermarket) car parks, I have noticed that most female drivers park "nose in" whilst most men reverse park in the bays. However in supermarket car parks I have noticed the reverse is true - why do women reverse park in supermarket parking bays; completely daft when you need to put your shopping in the boot!!! And another rather sexist observation - I have noticed that when driving around all car parks, it is mostly women drivers who tear around them at 20+ mph  Slow down!! you never know when someone may be reversing blindly out of a bay....... Richard
