  1. Sure did - beginning of October it was. 24 days minimum paid holiday now, inclusive of bank holidays, rising to 28 days next October. Richard
  2. Congratulations mate :hyper: Richard
  3. Just fit HIDs to the dipped beam - mains are a waste of time as the HID kit will mean you hardly use main beam. Fit better H1 bulbs to the mains for super-bright night driving. Something like the new OSram +90% or Phillips +80% from here: http://www.powerbulbs.com/product_detail.asp?prod=114 Richard :smw:
  4. Make sure you have very good tyres on the car. I have an Auto TT and with Goodyear GSD3 or Dunlop SP 9000 tyres all round (255/40/17 rear & 235/45/17 front) I have had no trouble with the back end coming unstuck in the wet, even booting it to overtake on a fast A-road. Poor tyres turn the ZX into a death trap IMO - when I bought the car, it had new Avons on it and it slid everywhere. Getting shot of them was the best improvement I have done on my ZX to date! You do have to treat powerful, torquey RWD cars with respect in the wet, as everyone has warned. Watch that throttle use when the front wheels are not pointing straight ahead!! Richard :smw:
  5. I think Saikoracer was referring to Stella's registration number mate......... :nelson: Richard :D
  6. My thoughts too. Richard
  7. Auto ZX twin turbo and snow......? Don't bother.... :nono: As soon as you reach even the slightest incline the wheels will spin like hell and you just won't go anywhere. Also the slightest touch of the accelerator can send the back end out in snow. Leave it at home! Normal wet winter weather is fine though - as said above, just make sure you have good quality tyres on the car. In fact anyone who puts cheapo tyres on a ZX is asking for trouble at any time of year. Richard
  8. You have swapped round your rev counter and speedo, I see...........
  9. True....... ......manual cars that have probably been wrapped round trees, leaving more autos on the road  Perhaps there are more manuals out there (I don't know for sure), but I guess they don't come up for sale too often  Richard :D
  10. I have to agree........ .................Plus the rear lights are shite as well, eh Si!! Richard ;)
  11. T5s were great cars - fekking quick and built like tanks! I'd chose the T5 ;)
  12. I think the insurance still pays out for 3rd party damage, but not her own as you say. 3rd party cover remains a minimum legal requirement, which she technically has in place....... .............but if she has voided her insurance cover by drink driving then I guess the insurers would be in their rights to recover all claims they meet from her later? I hope this is the case and you get it sorted quickly and easily mate. I assume you have legal assistance even with your 3rd party cover? Richard
  13. I know - but I have not seen any other ZX that looks OK with those lights. Must be the photo's exposure.......... ;) Richard :slap:
  14. Blue Flame do a nice one - virtually identical to the Mongoose. It's around £350-£400 for a cat-back in stainless steel; less restrictive and nicer sounding than the OEM one. Check out their ads on Ebay. Richard
  15. As above..... ....I went to see him at Wycombe Swan last night. He was fekking hilarious :hyper: My head and sides were aching badly when I left as I had been laughing soooo much. Go see him! :nana2: Richard
  16. You stole my thoughts, Athene!! Richard :p
  17. That is a valid point...... ......on my way up to the Lakes last month, the only cars to tailgate me (until the road in front of me cleared and I had the space to let the turbos do their stuff ;) ) were actually Audi A4s and A3s. All BMW drivers on the day just got out of my way  Richard
  18. What he said...... VAG diesels are among the best out there also. BM will be quick but the Quattro Audi will handle superbly and you won't be bothered by the winter snow up north ;) You know it makes sense..... Richard :D
  19. I love that black one too. I must say though, that on that particular car, the alzetta lights actually look good. It is the only ZX I've seen where I can honestly say it! Richard
  20. For all the reasons above...... .......if it is a choice between the 2 then stick with the grey. Classy and subtle. The orange is far too lairy for the ZX IMO, although some of the pictures posted of orange ZXs do look pretty good. However the orange will date too quickly; it is only "fashionable" because of the new Lambos and the Focus "Asbo" being available in thise colours. If you must go "orange" how about the metallic gold from the 350Z? Not sure it will really suit the 300 though...... Richard
  21. My exact thoughts too  And agreeing with Si - Soarer all the way. S14 is a nice car but just doesn't quite "do it" for me. Richard
  22. Some wise and all too true words there mate! Richard ;)
  23. And the space it would take up - especially in a ZX where any space is at a premium..... Richard ;)
  24. Nooooooo! Put them up at least one week into December - I will not allow Julia to put up the decorations any earlier than 10 December this year........ :nono: Richard ;)
