17" and 18" wheels
What he said........ .........for 17s the ideal sizes are 235/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear. 245/45/17 as you have now are not quite right ;) Richard

my car for sale..not 1 bite
Autotrader is surely the best place. Exchange and Mart are now doing a deal for £5. You take a pic on your phone and text it to a specified number. You include the reg number, mileage and price in your text and they do the rest - they get the car details from the reg number. Easy.......probably I may give it a go with my daily driver if the dealers offer peanuts for a p/x against my new car................... Richard ;)

BP Ultimate V's Shell V Power...Which one??
I've not noticed any difference....... ......then again having a stock-ish UK car I use regular unleaded anyway :p Although I use V-power or BP Ultimate in very hot weather; that's the only time I can feel any difference over the normal stuff. I still cannot notice any difference between either brand performance wise but I do get more miles from a tank of Shell. Richard

Sierra Cosworth
That's in good condition..... ......but way too much money for an old Sierra ;) Now a Mk1 RS2000 or a Mk1 3.1 litre Capri is a different matter - proper old School cool..... Richard :D

Private plate help
The donor vehicle has to be taxed and MOT'd at the time of the transfer (or request to place the plate on a retention certificate). If the receiving vehicle is not taxed, you must tax it at the same time as allocating the number plate to it. So it will also need an MOT in order to be taxed. Richard

Sierra Cosworth
They have a cult following and sure, can be tuned to stratospheric levels......... ..........but at the end of the day it's still a Sierra ;) I would not have one; then I would not have an Imprezza or Evo either. 4-door saloons, no matter how fast, do not do it for me. Except perhaps the latest M5. But then again it's a BMW :nono: Richard :D

Which Bumper
Agreed....... .......well the current one is fecked after the bash, so I'd simply replace it with the same! You have the best front end for a red ZX mate.......and I'm not at all biased! Richard

leather or velour
I prefer full leather seats on any car of mine. I have never had had a problem with leather seats in the summer being too hot - the a/c keeps me cool enough! They can be chilly in winter but if you have heated seats then no problem! I do like that alcantara trim but I would leave it to the door cards and centre console personally. My MD has a Merc R-Class with half leather/half alcantara trim. Whilst it is nice, full leather is much nicer IMO. Richard ;)

alloys and tyres - original UK 300zx - need help and advice
Tyre profile will make no difference on speed bumps, except maybe a little comfort. Lower profile tyres are generally used to compensate for larger rim sizes so if you went for 17s or 18s then adjusting the tyre profile keeps the overall diamter/circumference of the wheel & tyre (and the ride height) the same. Personally if you want to stay stock, then I think the UK set up looks best as it is. Don't bother fitting the wider rims to the front; plus any wider than 235 on the front and the car will tramline over poor road surfaces and won't feel so sharp. Richard

Removing a wheel clamp
What he said........ .........if it were private "cowboy" clampers then I'd do it (without damaging it of course) but not to the DVLA. He should just pay the tax and the fine. End of story. :nono: Richard

Anyone been to Olu Deniz in Turkey?
I went to that very place back in the early 1990s before it really took of as a holiday destination. My then GF and I had a great time (although all the comments from Sarah about their treatment of women are true). That said, the locals were friendly (then ;) ) and most shop keepers would invite you in for Turkish delight and apple tea...........or a large raki [sp?]. I do remember one night in Fethyie after a meal and plenty of wine, going into a silver-ware shop. The owner poured us both a raki and during the conversation, asked us to "take a parcel to his girlfriend in England." Needless to say, I sobered up very quickly, promised to return for the parcel next Friday and we hurried out of the place never to return!! It was hot as feck too - over 50 degrees sometimes  The food was good and very cheap, but even 4-5 star accommodation was more basic than I was used to. That was a long time ago so may have changed beyond recognition now...... Richard :smw:

What Double Cab Pickup?
That's the one I'd pick as well. In a Top Gear (or was it 5th gear?) comparison a couple of years ago it trounced the Mistubishi...... Richard :smw:

The only 2 worthy of note are the Honda S2000 or Porsche Boxster S in my opinion. Both may be better driver's cars than the SLK but neither have the class..........or that metal folding roof. Or the "airscarf" Plus an SLK350 is a lot faster than the Honda.....in fact with a 0-62.5 of 5.5 for an auto (manual Mercs are always slower) it will give my ZX a run for its money ;) I do agree with your opinion on the 500SL though; it's just that buying a daily driver for £26k I'd prefer a 2 year old car over a 6 year old car. Plus the SLK will cost me less on repairs and insurance etc than a 5.0 V8; although fuel is not an issue as my company picks up the bill on my Allstar card :D Richard

I take it back...... ......Just been on Auto Trader and seen a couple of 52 reg cars for £25,995  Great value but I still think I'd probably prefer a newer car for the money. Worth a look though  Richard

Where from? I am looking at replacing my SLK230 with a new-ish SLK350. A 2005 SLK350 is still £26k with low miles; but I have not seen any SL500s for that money otherwise I'd have one....... Richard

Can you imagine how you'd feel if.......
Also not uncommon in Cornwall......... .....I remember being in the Mason's Arms PH, Camelford one New Year's Eve. I was standing next to a local, when the lights all went out just before midnight. The chap said he'd better go and find his wife and sister. Half an hour later we were all outside for the fireworks and I saw the same chap. I ask him if he had found his wife and sister.... ......"Arrrrrrrrrh," he replied "Arrrrrrrrh, here she be!!" and he promptly introduced me to just one person!! More "interbred" than the Hovis family! Richard

Can you imagine how you'd feel if.......
Come on - look at them!! They have the same features FFS. Although they are not twins (or are they?), if you put a ginger wig and lip-stick on the bloke he'd be a dead ringer for his sis :hurl: How could they not realise..........? Still, if all the Germans did that then Hitler would have got his master race........ :nono:  Richard :D
