  1. I have Azev rims and damaged one when I had a tyre blow a few years ago - I dented the outer edge on a cats-eye at 90mph..... .....I just contacted the importers of Azev wheels and bought one with no probs. Richard
  2. I'd have thought this as well. If you are not a trader then it's best to bite the bullet and pay for a regular insurance policy. OK so a 300zx may not be worth much at present; however if you hit someone else and they claim injury etc etc, you could be facing a £100k claim including legal fees. Not really worth risking all for, just to save a few pounds now. Just my opinion...... :nono: Richard
  3. My thoughts too, mate. ATB Richard
  4. Yup, mine came with 3 keys - a titanium one, the black handled one and the red valet key. That's a UK spec and all the UK spec cars I looked at also had one....... ......judging by the results, the titanium key is not rare on the forum!! Richard
  5. I hope she has other tallents, mate............ ;)
  6. Amen Stella - it made me laugh.......and then cry when I got all nostalgic ;) Richard
  7. Me too..... .....I had 2 Mk3 Supra Turbos before I got my 300zx; they were very good cars in their day  My last was an imported targa top in black with the digital dash - it was just like KITT ;) Richard
  8. Bloody wimp :slap: I have not been ill for 7 years FFS. And then I had a cough that would not go away so, after my wife insisted for the 1000th time, I actually went to the doctors. Even though I didn't feel ill. Anyway, the doctor asked me how I felt so I said fine, the cough was just irritating and I'd had it for a month. The doctor told me I had pneumonia and should go home immediately and stay off work for a week. Rubbish - I just took the medicine and retuned to work the next day!! Get over it fellas - you're letting us men down!!!! Richard :D
  9. Nice interior....... .....and it looks like a UK spec car - I cannot see the "power" button near the gear shift of the retractable mirror switch. Then again I may be blind ;) Richard
  10. That's a good post Si. All too often we read "so and so ripped me off" or "don't buy from him/her" etc etc. It's good to read of the positive things that happen here. Richard :hyper:
  11. I doubt that Ivan........ ..........with very few exceptions (RX7 for instance) a high quality fully synthetic oil of the right viscocoty will always be better than semi synth or mineral oil. As for Mobil-1 0w40; a 0w40 oil will offer the SAME protection and be the same viscosity as a 10w40 when hot. The "0w" part just refers to the ability to circulate round the engine quickly when cold - the lower the "w" number the better in the cold AT START-UP! It's the "40" part that determines the thickness when hot - ie the ability to withstand high temperatures. However from my experience with Mobil-1 in my Mk3 Supra some years back, for some reason the oil pressure seemed lower at full temp than with Castrol RS 0w40 or Shell Helix 5w40. In the UK it never gets cold enough to really benefit from a "0w" anyway so a decent 5w40 or 10w40 will be fine for a 300zx that is not seriously modified for extra performance. Richard
  12. Yes, you still can do this..... Richard
  13. How about some samosas or bahjees [spelling] and a chilli dip?
  14. There are plenty going for peanuts on here mate  ; why not buy one to keep temptation in its place, then buy a newer more sensible daiy driver? If I am honest, I did (very briefly) consider putting my ZX up for sale once I take delivery of the SLK. However for what little it would fetch, and for the driving pleasure it provides, it would be criminal not to keep it. I've never had such an attachment to a car as I have to the 300zx....... Richard
  15. Thanks mate! It is a totally different car - the old one is nice but like you say, no real sporting intentions. And that "recirculating ball" steering - what's that about? I originally intended to buy the 280 after a test drive - 3 litres and 231bhp - after all I have the ZX if I want very fast ;) The 280 was a more than capable sports car but then the dealer let me try a 350 I got hooked on the power :D As for using the ZX less - I shouldn't think so, as it's still the best car I've ever owned. It still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it; even when I got back into the ZX immediately after test driving the mercs, it was still apparent what a great job Nissan did 17 years ago  Richard
  16. Either will look good Si.......... ;) But that's not the answer you want, is it :D I think the contrasting look is best - it works on the seats and TBH emphasizing the stitching just adds to the whole quality of a fine leather interior. I can't wait to see the results - as I said on another thread, the leather re-trim will make one of the best Zs here into the best IMO....... Richard
  17. So true........ I had not driven mine for over 2 weeks but just seconds after leaving my garage I remembered just how much I love my ZX........ .......There quickly followed a fast drive along some nice A-roads before hitting an empty M40 for some real high speed action :D Simply superb :hyper: Richard :p
  18. Hey Si, Heh heh, no - I'm going to leave it alone..............for now anyway, as I'll probably be skint after buying it!! :p I like the early ones too - after all I've got one at the mo ;) ; in fact from the profile view I also think the old shape SLK looks better. However engine and drive wise there is no contest :D Although a "last of line" AMG32 kompressor......mmmmmmmm! Richard
  19. I have taken the plunge and decided to replace my daily driver......... .......So I have left a deposit on a 2005 SLK. It's has a 3500cc V6 engine, 272bhp and only 22000 miles; and with a 0-62mph time of 5.5 seconds it will keep up with my 300zx ;) It has loads of extras too - airscarf heating, sports suspension and the 7-speed sports auto with steering wheel paddle change. Plus I love that leather trim colour....... I'm hoping MB will deliver it to my work on Friday - I can't wait :hyper: Now all I have to do is sell the old SLK :nono: Richard
  20. Sorry to see that mate - that type of scum should be burned at the stake  Good point about your home insurance though - buildings will cover the garage and hopefully the bikes will be covered on the contents. Hope you sort it mate. Richard :(
  21. 740i or Lexus are my pick of that bunch. Other suggestions include an Audi A6 or A8 - a lot of car for the money Or if you fancy something a little more rare how about a Saab 9-5 Richard :)
  22. Yup, that's what I'd do...... ......but you must have accidental damage/personal effects cover added to your contents policy to make the claim! Richard :)
  23. Hey Diddy, Ask on here - I joined a few months back and find these guys pretty helpful....... http://www.forums.mercedesclub.org.uk Richard
  24. I love the Manta and 240z as well. I thought the same as you about the Capri but as there are almost none left I have to admit I kind of like them now........ ......but only the Mk1 version - although the last "280 Brooklands" has grown on me a bit :nono: After "Life on Mars" (and seeing the actual car at the Classic Motor Show) I've started to like the Mk3 Cortina - I'd never buy one though  Richard :D
