im about to buy some 18 inch rims how much will they slow down the z?

and will it hi jack the car?

will suspension be affected much?

You have to adjust the size of the tyres so that the rolling radius is still the same.

The only thing this should really affect is the ride as you will be on lower profile tyres.

Which wheels are you getting?

Pictures needed.

not sure if the radious will remain the same. as the originals are 16inch going up 2 inchs with another... say inch for tyres would increase radius but im too lazy to do the math

Well bigger wheels are almost certainly heavier, and with the weight further from the hub. This will increase its resistance in changes to rotational speed i.e. it will have an effect on the acceleration and deceleration. However the 300 has a nice powerful engine so you will notice little difference.

bigger wheels puts more strain on the engine, but theres plenty of power in your car to turn them so go for what you want, and if you feel it being slower just turn up the power with a few more mods ;)

Yes Clarkey is right, except you go for the light weight performance wheels, additional weight will affect take off especially - which is why most people go for lower weight alloy or stock ones when measuring how fast their car is in quater mile etc. that said once the car is rolling, it make very little or no difference that is just IMO

If you adjust the tyre profile to keep the wheel's total running circumference the same then it makes no difference.

So from stock (UK spec) rear tyres are 245/45/16; for each inch you increase the rim size, you reduce the profile (aspect ratio) by 5% to compensate. Of course you shouldn't increase the tyre width by more than 10mm otherwise you would mess up the ratios.

Therefore on 17 in rims the natural size is 245/40/17; 18 in rims 245/35/18 etc. Although keeping to 255/40/17 and 255/35/18 respectively has little effect - only an extra 10mm width; plus the tyres are easier to come by.

Moving up to 265 or even 285/35/18 would alter speedo reading and possibly performance, as the profile is increased by x% of the wider tyre making the rolling circumference of the wheel greater.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

larger wheel, faster top end, just accelerates slower.

WHOAH!!!

Three very important pieces of info missing from this guys advert.

1. WIDTH of rim??

2. Size and profile of tyre

3 .the OFFSET on the wheel

You need to check all 3 out FIRST BEFORE YOU BID.

And what condition/ make tyres. It says "all weather". That usually means nasty hard Jap import tyres that are no f***k*n good to anyone.

Also are they chrome/painted. If chrome then repair is virtually impossible cos it cant be touched in.

I would be very wary of this whole set up.

And cant you find a better loookin wheel??? :x:

yeah them wheels are shite..... il look for some better ones with good tyres anyone selling any???

How wide are the wheels because the fitting boss is right on the outside so all the wheel will be inside....is there enough space ?

ffs - your driving a 300bhp car - are you telling me you are going to notice ??
