  1. Worth a try - specially if it prevents that noise ever happening in public :) Ta !
  2. Cheers for that Splashout ! I left the battery on charge overnight though and sure enough the problem's cured, as Vijay suggested in an old mail. Seems the solenoid needs the battery on full charge to run. My fault for not using the car for a month and not keeping it topped up :o If it happens again with a charged battery though I'll try Lucas. Cheers mate ! konrad
  3. ok - cheers mate ! Just done a search and it looks like my noise could be the solenoid on the starter. Apparently it makes just the same electrical clicking when there's not enough power from the battery to turn it over; it had been sat in the garage for about a month after all
  4. Does it sound like the starter motor noise from any other car; sorta like a grinding noise, or does it sound like some strange manic woodpecker ? Just asking 'cause mine went woodpecker   yesterday when I went to take it out of the garage; having not been moved in a month or so. Didn't have time to investigate so I left it there and took the runner out. Ta ! konrad
  5. Mac, you still short of the 25 ? Might tag along to fill out the bottom of the list !
  6. Frank at FGs told me about an additive they can mix up with your paint for the front end which means it never quite sets off and stays slightly rubbery so small stones just bounce off. Not cheap though !
  7. May be up for that - although my Zed doesn't develop massive horse like some of you others. Where is SE based ?
  8. FG certainly get's my seal of approval too ! :)
  9. Have you tried covering the other pipes over ? Also, does it stay inflated or do you have to keep the engine running ? Cheers
  10. They flog em in Halfords for £45 Been tempted myself for ages but wanted someone to be guinea pig first ;)
  11. Hi Ajay, I'm currently with the AA under another group diso**** but I'll happily transfer across to 300ZX forum group forum if it helps the figures. konrad
  12. Sorry if this is telling you to go suck eggs... but have you spoken to Luke at the Zcentre ? He keeps most bulbs in stock, Jap included.

Power mode does indeed let it rev higher before changing up, and allows the box to change down 2 gears if required when you boot it hard. Hold keeps the box in as high a gear as possible for fuel economy. It's almost impossible to kick it down 2 gears and is therefore the ideal setting for nervous drivers or for wet slippery roads. You're unlikely to get any surprises in the middle of a corner ;) . It also makes the car pull away in 2nd gear, rather than 1st, and is therefore handy for icy roads. The setting in the middle is for normal driving (A/T). It will allow you to change down 2 gears but changes up earlier than sport; so better fuel economy I guess. Best to keep it in A/T for normal driving, Hold in crap weather and Sport when you feel the need for speed :D The overdrive button is really only there to let you switch it off in heavy traffic (you'll find it keeps changing up and down at certain speeds - switching the O/D off stops that, holding it in the lower gear!)

I agree completely Mac, having had a fiberglass one on for a couple of years now and forever having to touch in chips in the bumper itself which should only be stonechips in the paintwork. I thought that the Strosek kit, as supplied by them rather than copies, were polypropylene though, rather than fiberglass ? Could be wrong but John Shaw, with the full original Strosek kit, was always calling the fiberglass copies.

Take it that means there's no way to make an original Strosek look like that then ? Was sorta hoping that the Strosek was chunky enough to cut the extra bits away without having to remould it :(
  16. How nice was that white 300 pickup conversion, 5 from the top  :D
  17. Snap !
  18. I'm not getting any e-mailed messages from the forum at all mate ! :( Not changed any of my settings so I guess it's just black-balling ;) konrad
  19. Luke at the Zcentre - 0115 9676356 Keeps the import bulbs in stock :) konrad
  20. I've had both of those types of clicking in the past and I reckon they're different ! I had the click you've got for months Matty, and the jumps in engine idle speed that went with it; Bob Ford at Arriva Peterboro fixed it - cleaning the (AIV ??) I think - the small metal mesh cube thing at the top of the engine (You can tell I'm real technical eh ? ;) ). It cured it for a few months then came back so Bob changed it and I haven't heard it since. konrad
  21. Cheers Jay ! Just the answer I was looking for ! :D
  22. Anyone got any experience of using these, specifically the 'Defi' ones ( see http://www.defi-shop.com/product/vsd/bt/bt_top.htm ) Quite interested in a combination of the Sports VSD & Boost & Timer units. I've wanted a boost gauge for a while but have waited in the hope of finding one of these as I don't really want extra pods on the dash or pillars. Are they bright enough to use in strong daylight ? Seem quite good value at £101 & £114 for the 2 mentioned above. Ta ! konrad :)
  23. Can't see it mate - can you try re-attaching it ? Ta !

They had a (well cheap) group buy on the Supra forum a while back so at the risk of getting flamed it might pay to ask them ? ;) http://www.mkivsupra.net
  25. It's hearsay only but I've heard that spacers can cause wheel bearings to wear quicker :( If you can convince me otherwise though I'd love to get some 'cause I've only got about a mil clearance over my AP calipers. Either that or I'll have to stump up for 18s eventually
