  1. Nice !!!
  2. Anything to oblige ! :D :D :D
  3. Are you allowed to post a digital pic of those then ? :p
  4. After a quick look last night in the dim light of the garage there only seemed to be one bracket attaching them - the bracket attached to the car about half way up the rear side of the front wheel arches. The bracket then went vertically downwards clipping over the flaps. I'll have a better look & try to get you a digital picture over the weekend in the light, if nobody else has replied by then.
  5. Look on the bright side and think how much fun you could be having with a convertible! Mate of mine had a 944 and it spent the whole winter with a wet interior and fully misted rear window. :p Makes you wonder if the handling would be even better with a hardtop though, if targas allow it to flex that much !
  6. No arguments about Strosek; they nearly got to make kits for Nissan after all, but Stillen wind tested their spoilers too ! Plus, Strosek designed their wing to go with their extended wheel arches (although Luke Borg sells a low level version of it!) Have you not read about the Stillen SMZ ? It was even featured in the Z club of GB's magazine a couple of years back under the title of 'Epitome Awesome' ! They took a shipment of the last 300's to be made and kitted 'em up in association with Nissan. They wouldn't have got away with no testing. And mine not only works a treat but doesn't crack in the sun and leak like the OE wing !
  7. It could also marginally increase your fuel consumption, but then I guess if you're that worried about fuel then you'd be driving a Robin Reliant rather than a Z, eh ? ;)
  8. It's a few months ago now, but then I've only just joined this site, but I went head to head with an RT10 Viper for the best part of 5 miles in the summer. I had a (rather large) witness on board too ! I have to admit he was in front, having announced his presence by pulling out from behind the car following me and roaring past but I reacted fast enough to match his speed very shortly after he passed. He then failed to even open space between us for the next 4 or 5 miles, even with having to slow for several roundabouts. We never actually got a standing start; which is probably just as well as he's got no lag at all, just an 8 litre engine powering massive tyres. He was a decent enough sort, and even waved when I finally indicated to part ways at a roundabout. Awesome car though ! Incidentally, what's this I hear about a new law they've just introduced about being able to confiscate your car on the spot if they suspect you've been racing ? Is that legit ?
  9. As people here say it works then I'll definitely go for it next time I get the front end resprayed ! Just not at the mo ! If you're looking to buy enough to make it viable then it might be worth speaking to Frank at FG's in Nottingham as he's always got several Z's in the bodyshop and could probably flog them like sweets ! He's on 0115 9860690
  10. Mulling over whether to go for an EVC or the traction control but leaning towards the traction control; both should give me a quicker 0-60 but the traction control might make sure I get there in one piece ! :D
  11. I didn't plan to  HM Customs & Excise had other ideas though ! Still, at least it saved me having to decide what to spend my spare money on ! :p
  12. Stillen do look great; and they are the only ones I've heard of that claim to do wind tunnel tests, but I don't know of any uk dealers that supply them. I got mine direct from Stillen, for about £180 + about £40 postage I think, but then got REALLY stung by customs and excise for another £130 !!!! Another warning if you want to buy Stillen. What they (Yanks) call a coupe is the 2 seater so if you do buy one from them make sure you state it's 2+2. My type 3 wing is only listed to fit 2 seaters but it just requires some modding where the strakes meet the shoulders of your z; then it fits great ! :D Worth having a look at zcentre.co.uk as Luke's got pictures of loads of spoilers that he sells.
  13. Hiteq in Wigan; they know about as much about Zs as anyone. 01942 721778
  14. If you've got to fork out £1500 for a recon then you might as well get your own box sorted. I had exactly the same problem a couple of years ago. It turned out to be a failed clutch (the one between 2nd and 3rd gears). I had my box overhauled and had all the clutches replaced with uprated ones (to handle extra power). It cost around £1800 I think ! Judges transmissions did the work - 0181 5543347
  15. You could take the z into the local Nissan dealer for a routine service - it usually takes them so long to complete the work you'll be driving round in their courtesy car until the weather's nice and warm again ! :D
  16. The only breakdown I've had in 4 and a half years was caused by one of the clutches in the auto box breaking, stopping it changing up out of 2nd on the motorway. That cost nearly £2k but that's mainly because I took the opportunity to upgrade. Other than that it's been very reliable, (and I used it as my main transport for 3 years!) but we all know they're anything but cheap to run !
  17. Stillen at least claim to do wind tunnel tests to ensure their spoilers are functional. I've certainly got more downforce since I put their type 3 wing put on; we're going round corners quicker anyway !! :D As for looking nice..... :D

Might be worth asking at some local Jap import garages though ! Some bring in extra sets of wheels (second hand usually but still in good nic!) and swap them about on the cars to jaz them up a bit. You even get sets that aren't sold in the uk. 18's might be a bit hopeful though ! They won't be as cheap as wheels in the admag etc, but you'll still probably save half the price or more ! ;)
  19. Sorry you've had a bad experience mate - I can only vouch for mine! Frank first worked on my car about 3 and a half years ago, repairing some naff workmanship from a Nissan maindealer getting a crease out of my front wing where some t@sser had pulled into my side out a junction. It still looks like new ! He's fitted both front and rear spoilers for me, front about 2 years ago and rear this summer. Both went on fine. My rear wing is the Stillen type 3, which is only designed for 2 seaters, not 2+2's and needed extensive modification to fit. Another z owner who'd had one said that when fitted wrong it causes buffetting at high speeds but mine works fine, looks fantastic, and gives me quite a bit of extra down-force ! I hope you have better luck elsewhere !
  20. FG's gets my vote too! Frank's fitted various bits for me and his work is top rate. He also delivered on time, or before, on each occasion. He only ever seems to have Z's in, with only 1 or 2 exceptions, so he knows them inside out. He's on Holme Street in Nottingham, just off Meadow Lane. You can see his work on the bodyshop link of Zcentre.co.uk His number's 0115 9860690
  21. lame question, but do you remember what the episode was, in case I see it advertised again. You don't see many on the box after all !
  22. 4 and a half years, of which I used it as my main car for 3 years. I had to have new clutches in the auto box, which cost a lot 'cause I got strengthened ones put in. It also chewed through 3 sets of disks (mainly on track) before I upgraded to AP 6 pots. Other than that the only problem I've had is worn turbos, which are now masked for a while by the TurboTechnics back-pressure simulation kit. Spent a fortune in servicing though  It doesn't go out much now (especially in this weather!!)
  23. Having been a Lancia fanatic for years, (and having it rust away), the rustproffing was one of the reasons I went for a Z. The rustproofing's great and if you get a Jap spec then they've never seen salt as they don't use it out there. One thing about the metallics though - only use a bodyshop that really knows it's job! A main dealer sprayed a scratched wing for me, & matched the colour exactly but the wing stood out like a sore thumb in strong sunlight. After months of arguing I went to FG's in Nottingham. Seems the paint has to sprayed from the right angle else the metallic chips don't look right ! Sorted now though and like SRRAE it's matched my 10 year old paint seamlessly ! :D
  24. If you're stuck try Luke at Zcentre.co.uk ! He normally keeps plenty of import bulbs in stock !
  25. Yeah, I think you'll find Luke's merchandise at the Zcentre to be fairly competitive, and don't forget you pay through the nose in Import duty if you buy from the States. They stung me for 150 notes when I imported a Stillen rear wing !
