Ouch ! best part of £20k, although the car itself cost half of that when I bought it nearly 5 years ago. Couple of grand in maintainance on top of that too !

I've got the same problem with my paypal screen; I can't make it convert to GBP ! If you find out how to make it convert could you pass it on to me please ? Cheers !

Thankfully not mine - it's mainly just petrol stations; although you do get the occasional false alarm in city centres. Maybe it's a totty warning ? :D

I've switched off all the radar bands that don't get used in the UK on my Bel so I don't get warned about crossings etc but I never miss a petrol station ! :rolleyes: No chance of running out of fuel eh ? :D

Interesting - where do you find you get laser signals ? Even my Bel hasn't given me any laser warnings. Maybe Notts gestapo just don't use laser cameras ? Most of our temporary traps seem to involve mobile digital camera units, sometimes hidden in the back of unmarked vans. :mad:

Er, I think that sorta makes sense as my speed conversion chip involved converting the eight pulses from the box to 5, or something like that apparently! Suggests the box was outputting km pulses, not miles I guess ?

I think you might find it'll limit your speed to 115mph too ! I bought a chip to adjust my clocks and remove the speed limiter but I'm told putting uk clocks in would have had the same effect. 115mph sucks ! :mad:

Bel do make excellent detectors (I've got the 990 which is the version of the 550 that also works in the States and it's saved my licence several times!) The only downside is that they don't pick up the passive speed traps like the new digital ones here in Nottingham and the Truvelo's (which look like Gatso's but point towards you and have two metal strips buried in the road). Your best combination would be a Bel and a GPS system like Road Angel, which stores the location of all known speed traps. Unfortunately either one on it's own leaves you open. I've also got a Laser Echo laser jammer on board but that's never yet activated in 3 years so I'm thinking that was a waste of money !

Oh yeah, I agree with that completely Gio (as supercars go they're fantastic; I even used mine as my main transport for nearly 3 years!), but most people buy them as their first supercar; and the servicing etc comes as quite a shock after your average Ford. :rolleyes:

Had mine for nearly 5 years and it's only ever let me down once with a clutch failure (and even then it was still driveable!). It's the general running costs you need to consider mainly - they are expensive to maintain; servicing and parts can be very pricey, especially when you consider how much technology comes with the car ! Oh, and you might spend a bit on fuel too ! :D

Do you have the standard spoiler on the back ? If so, is it cracked ? Mine leaked trhough there until I ripped the OE spoiler off. :rolleyes:

Another stab in the dark but it could even be your immobiliser. Do you have an overide facility (dallas prom etc) to see if it's that before you start looking for something more expensive ?

You can find the colour code on the vin plates under the bonnet something like 2 letters and three numbers as I recall, but I can't help with the leather colour I'm afraid as mine's cream ! :p

Lancia Integrale Evolutions are loads of fun, although being a similar age to Zs, and Italian, you may have the same reliability problems. Scooby or a Mitsubishi Evo maybe ? :rolleyes:

Tut tut ! Mate o mine drives an Impreza WRX and he is blisteringly fast off the mark but I've yet to meet anything on the road that outdoes our mid-range (even the viper couldn't manage it !). Go hunt yourself a Scooby to salvage your Z's pride !!! :D

Tenner guess might be a bit off but I know they didn't cost a fortune ! It was 3 or 4 years ago but I remember being really pleasantly surprised; hence buying the red one too ! I'll check tonight to see if I kept the receipt.

I had both the black 300ZX key and the red 'service' one duplicated at my local Nissan dealer a couple of years back, for about a tenner I seem to recall. Never had any problems with either ! Mister Minit keys don't quite have the same kudos on your key ring eh ? :rolleyes:
