  1. Clean the terminal on the knock sensor, check it for continuity with a multimeter,if its ok then re use it.The bakealite is usually cracked on them.
  2. I know someone who,d love his address,he really would love it.Chris took over four grand off him and sold him a second hand engine which was"rebuilt" so say, lasted 700 miles and span a main bearing.the guys even paid a heavy to track Chris down to no avail.
  3. Or ride the old belts using a 27mm socket on the front pully, turn the engine over and pull the belt forward,it will ride off the crank pully. You can refit it the same way.It will need re tensioning though after. This is how the AA change belts so quick on the roadside.
  4. A white zed on here(mad maxes) made 500hp easy on the stock reg so why do you think you need one bud?
  5. will be utter *****x for sure, most maps run around 370hp tops with that spec,id be very surprised if it was 400hp.That figure is achievable with loads of advance but tuners dont tend to market those maps in case of engine damage.
  6. After all the Mot will last longer than the taste :tongue_smilie:
  7. I reckon it did fail but Dave obliged the tester orally to completion and got a ticket on it :scared:
  8. usually rings or pistons matey,if it has overheated it can thin the oil reducing bearing life also.id leave well alone personally.
  9. If im ever approached by people for headgasket jobs i decline. Its always more than headgaskets by the time they have let go.
  10. Either a worn lower u/j or the rack mounts have gone soft, you still got notchy steering? did you check the lower u/j as i suggested?
  11. Imho replacing the headgaskets is usually pointless, best getting a good known second hand engine.Usually if its suffered an overheat and gaskets let go something more serious is usually around the corner.Usually the gaskets get done on a vg30 and all seems fine for a while then the hard starting begins from low compression or the engine starts to smoke.
  12. So your running a £35,000 car (when new) and you cant afford £20 :whistling: Thats shocking.
  13. Kwik Fit,Youll be amazed at what we do,yeh fukin really amazed. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1348989/Ryan-Fleming-8-killed-Kwik-Fit-workers-taking-customers-Porsche-spin.html Kill Kids in customers cars, spot on :cursing:
  14. Thats quite a good list Ian ,should help peeps on here a fair bit, couple or errors though, spare isnt tested so it can be in any condition, and handbrakes dont need to have a certain number clicks,as long as it works and it has reserve travel,in other words you can pull it till it reaches the end of the mechanism.
  15. Big 3 0 eh Gaz ,happy birthday bud :happybday:
  16. That was as funny as cancer i thought, last time i laughed at the crazy frog noise i fell of my dinosaur. You boys on here must be wacked out on goof balls to get shits n giggles from that !!
  17. Rich needs some more practice on his wire eroder by the looks of it.Looks like it was done with etch a sketch
  18. Just saw this, missing bump stop is not a fail either iirc.
  19. Split ball joint rubber is advisory only and cv gaitor should only fail if its the outer one bud.
  20. clutch is worn out plain and simple.
  21. I thought their stuff was stainless
  22. Oil changes wont help, the fault is the syncro is not beefy enough to handle the torque the engine produces at the higher engine speeds.Syncros are brakes basically that slow gears down to engage the sliding dog, this is why oil doesnt help as the cone and baulk ring are designed to disperse oil to help shifting.
  23. This is a common zed complaint and relates to a failure on 4th gear syncro, nissan were aware of this weakness and devised an uprated syncro, baulk ring, dog and fork to repair it.Its not cheap though.Over £400 for those parts alone.Oil level etc will not cure it.
  24. No running in on mine bud like that,no silly rev limits etc.All i ever say is dont redline it or labour it in too high a gear.I tell everyone that and nobody has ever had a failure. Some spirited driving is good for a new engine it helps bed the rings into the bores better.
