  3. ^^^^^^ And that Pete is exactly what would happen .
  4. Youll need a helicoil kit if the thread gets damaged,e bay sell them,m8 x 1,25 will sort it.as long as you get the studs out you should be able to fix the threads as long as you dont go past 6.8mm on the drill bits youll have the correct amount of metal left to recut a new thread with a tap.You must use a good drill bit and make sure its centered and well lubed whilst your drilling.dont use too much pressure as youll overheat the tip and blunt it.Do you have a B & Q near you ? iirc they sell m8 bolts and stuff like that.M8 X 1.25 X 30MM will be good replacements.
  5. Take the one out of your old engine Ian,hammer n chisel out she will come, clean it up the re fit to the new engine
  6. Too true, need hands like a baby, frickin japs didnt consider westerners working on them.
  7. Yeh passenger tubbie is the easier tub to remove but the oil pipe is a a real pita,i doubt it could be done in situ.Drivers tub oil feed is a dream to get at.
  8. usually ring or piston related when that happens im afraid.A compression test may reveal the offending cylinder, worth a try.
  9. passenger side would prolly be impossible, drivers could be done no trouble.its getting to the bracket that holds the pipe to the snail, would be best to remove the turbo, swap the pipe then refit it.
  10. Youll need to trace the wires the emerald needs at the old ecu plug, cut and solder them to the emerald harness.
  11. sounds good to me.put me down for that one.
  12. Alrite alrite, just saying in case you never know :tt2: cant assume on here .You prolly have some silly fault there,if you can get back to the basics it should help.does sound ecu related.does the fan run constantly?
  13. You need to a run a 555 map with those injectors,it will overfuel badly on a stage one 370cc map,the ecu will open the 555,s longer as it will think its running a lower flow rate injector.
  14. Your welcome,love your car,clean straight and a great colour::cool2:
  15. Hell yeah, big coolers need looking at imho,i love seeing Aluminium and lovely tig welds on them, looks the *****x.will set your 99 spec bumper right off :2guns:
  16. The map sensor is useable and so is the wideband 02 sensor, you may need an egt sensor fitting depending on your state of tune.John Dixon is the guy to speak too.The final mapping is done by Dave Walker who is a legend in tuning circles. And the mapping is a fixed price. Jaffa, yours still not up and running fully yet?
  17. Many aftermarket coolers need the ducts chopping to fit them, trouble is the ducts mask them so you cant see them, peeps need to see your aftermarket intercoolers :cool2: imho
  18. Get an emerald system mate.Much easier to get mapped.
  19. My switches failed on my drivers seat and Stu very kindly sent me a set for FREE  Many thanks Stu ,your a top bloke and the reason i dont lose my faith in humanity.
  20. Are you a drug dealer then ? or Bill Gates ? Lol would take you 25 minutes to do pads both sides :cool2:
  21. So thats why you had the day off then mate, soz about the interuption earlier Lol hope you had a good day :happybday:
  22. Im sorry but the mk2 escort could never be called "shit".The most rallied car in history and prolly the most influential rally car of all time. Its still used in vast numbers by clubman and is the historic rally drivers choice of car for a very good reason. It may have been flawed in some ways but no more so than any other 70,s car.
  23. I had a mk 2 1300 sport that i started to restore as a teenager, well i fell off the tracks then and me ole man binned it.Im gutted as they were rare then.the 1600 sport was common in its time but the 1300 was very rare, not rs 1800 rare but still would have made decent money now.it was almost at the paint stage but i never touched it in the end.Had a full SD cage,Rs brakes.modded engine, bucket seats and harnesses.god i wish id completed that car.
  24. Turbo for sure, seen and heard of a few re furbed tubs that only lasted a few years.
